I've been to multiple barbershops in the auburndale area and the drive to Lakeland is definitely worth it for Gent's. It was recommended by a friend multiple times but I never bothered going. I let myself go for 2 months without a cut or shave and Kyle took care of me. I recommend getting an appointment because it was a pretty busy place and the barbers were booked up. I scheduled a week in advance and got "The Gent". It includes a cut, shave, hot towel, steamer, and face massage. Well worth it for only $30. I've been growing my hair for about 3 years now and had a long mane going. My appointment was with Warner and I thought that I was pretty clear with what I wanted: shave the sides and back and leave it longer on top (an undercut). After he finished shaving the sides, he asked how much I wanted to be left on top. I pulled my hair back into a pony tail and showed him how much I wanted left (approx. 6-7 inches long when pulled back). He finishes up and had left barely enough to pull back into a tail (2 inches when pulled back). At that point there really is no use in complaining because the damage is done, so I put on a fake smile, paid, left a tip (because COVID and all) and left. read more

Walk in no one looks up, it's quite and Tiffany is playing in the background. I greet everyone with a hello and 1 lifts his head and then looks back down. Felt like Roy Munson(Kingpin reference) trying to sell them lane oil! I guess I'm from a different time where men are capable of looking you the eyes and asking how they can help you. Feels like LA in there, hipster vibe they looked upset that downtown got gentrified before they where able to. Lakeland has been a place full of personality and anyone that shows up in town with little to no personality are sentenced to trim the hair of downtown lawyers. Never been to a barbershop with most of the chairs full and no one is talking... how fun is that! Going to a barbershop is an experience that's why they even made a movie about it this place bucks the norm by making you feel like you just slept with one of their moms and they just found out. Went to beaded beasts by PF gym. Greeted me immediately and get this eye contact! They were packed but they said it wouldn't be to long and they are more than happy to get me in a chair in a few minutes. My son explained what he wanted and Lonnie made it happen. My son has never been happier with his cut. My husband decided to get a cut and shave also. Steam, massage and straight razor shave. I came in from out of town because my father had past away due to covid complications. They were completely booked. I called to see if they could fit me in if someone cancelled. Jason came on the phone and fit me in before the funeral. I got there and Jason is one of the most down to earth people i have ever met. He gave me the one the freshest cuts ive ever recieved. Gent's has a great atmosphere, friendly and lively discussion and most importantly they give excellent haircuts and shaves. I have Kyle cut my hair and I have done "The Gent" a few time (this includes a shave and a shot of whiskey!). This is the only place I know of where you can get a classic straight razor shave. A friend told me about this place and I have been going here ever since. It is in a great location in downtown Lakeland. The building is cool and the decor reminds me of an old time barber shop (they even have some antique barber equipment and guns on display). You will feel more manly as soon as you walk in the door and you will leave with an excellent haircut. It is appointment only and you need to plan ahead a week or two. Found this barber shop and it looked like my kind of place. I walked in and they said they were too busy and would not be able to squeeze me in. That's understandable, so I asked to make an appointment and was told I needed to go to their website. As soon as I got home I went to their website and made an appointment. I showed up 15 minutes early for my appointment and was again told they were too busy and could not get to me. There was only one guy there and he was already squeezing someone in.
