Dr Trachenberg help me to walk. His testing of my gait was accurate. He patiently worked on a pair of orthotics that would work for me. He advised me to buy an orthotic shoe. Trachtenberg has a system. It's not particularly a care-oriented system or a reasonably-priced system. Nor is it a patient-centric system. Actually, a scam is a better way to put it. My time with Georgie was a negative experience. I'm using the bank account related use of the word "negative." Part of it is my own fault for buying into his expensive plan. He will build rapport with you, ask you about who you are, and discuss his Staten Island days on the Verrazano Bridge with you, before he has your cash. It will seem genuine. Every ache or injury according to Georgie is caused by your feet. Because if it didn't, he wouldn't have as many customers to sell to. Who cares if the patient is actually a good fit right? If you had a mental disorder, he would tell you it was probably a foot-related issue. Then this salesman would be selling you French-Canadian made orthotics ($500 that take a month to build) that work only with a specific pair of leather sneakers bought from his partner over in Endicott ($120.) You of course must buy both for the magic to work, and if you don't pay for both, you and your checkbook aren't doing your part to get better. At this point you're risking getting dropped from his program for not playing along. Those aforementioned fees don't include his "state of the art" walking technology consultation. Which is simply a video camera and a walking platform to the layman. But again, smoke and mirrors is this guys modus operandi. So it fits. Georgie-boy doesn't take insurance of any kind, and fees are due up front. My first consultation ran over $200. I paid well over a G before I was referred to Mario Silvestri over in Endicott. Silvestri cooked up some domestic-made insoles, told me to go up a half-size in running shoe (any kind I wanted,) and within weeks I felt instantly better. I have been Dr. Trachtenberg's patient for at least 10 years. I find him very effective in helping me manage my various foot problems. He is compassionate and understanding and explains his recommendations in terms I can understand. I believe that he has enabled me to avoid foot surgery and still manage to walk very well. He thinks creatively to solve my foot challenges. I trust his knowledge and judgment. The office staff is very personable and caring. I always feel welcomed when I arrive for my appointments. Kim, the office manager, is very helpful to me for managing appointments and for advising me on how to fill out insurance forms. She sets a gracious tone to receive patients for their appointments. I came to be a patient of Dr. Trachtenberg as a last opinion. He was my last visit before I was going to amputate my leg below my knee. Dr Trachtenberg your Foot Office is giving you a bad name. They are not friendly or flexible. My 5 year old daughter that is your existing Client and has been charged over $2,000 for your services is getting charged $100 for missing an appointment. My husband scheduled that appointment when she was at her first follow-up appointment. I never knew about this appoint and unfortunately missed it. I can't believe that the first thing your office did was send us a $100 bill. We didn't even get a follow up call to see if Bella was ok. I called your office and was told I had to schedule an appointment to talk to you in person about this issue and pay $100 - Seriously??? I was also told that your time was more valuable than my time. I have never been treated like this before. It went from a good relationship to a very bad issues quickly. All 4 members of my family are patients of Dr. Trachtenberg. He is an excellent doctor that takes great pride in listening to and helping his patients to achieve optimum success. I went to Dr. T over 10 years ago with severe foot pain with his care and expertise I walk pain free with the specialized care I have received and avoided any kind of surgery. My husband and son are patients and they too received specialized care, treatment (orthotics) and walk pain free without surgery. My daughter is also a patient. At age 9 she required surgery for ingrown toe nails on both of her big toes. Dr. T was very kind and attentive. With a very specific treatment plan she recovered completely and the toe nails have NOT grown back. I would highly recommend Dr. T for many reasons; first you are never rushed, the proper amount of time is allotted for all patients, he answers all of your questions and he cares about his patients and wants them to achieve the highest level of success possible. Great experience all way around at Dr. Trachtenberg's office. I've been a patient for about three years now. My husband and I have read the negative reviews, but have not found these to be our experience. Although, I've not missed an appointment and been charged, but I'd be expecting to pay if it was my fault. Everybody, even doctors, have bills to pay. We've found Dr. Trachtenberg's office to be both friendly, and professional. I was losing hope of ever walking again without severe pain. After numerous appointments with three other local Podiatrist over a period of four years previously, none of them could figure out how to answer to the issues that I was experiencing with my feet. I had never heard of Dr. Trachtenberg, and surely didn't know any of his other patients. He's over an hour away from my home. In desperate research, I had found a video of him speaking about foot problems on-line. Dr. Trachtenberg ended up changing my life. My health issues are complicated, but he figured my foot pain out. He visually showed me what my feet were doing as I walked. Even I could see my issues. He explained everything in detail, and came up with the right way to help me. He showed me "that not all shoes are created equally", and what to look for when buying. I found out that just because you pay big bucks for shoes, etc., doesn't mean their all healthy to wear. Yes, I pay them a bit more than insurance pays. Yes, I pay up front and wait for insurance to reimburse their payable amounts. It's been worth it all. My health and ability to walk has been immeasurable. Great that there's a doctor that give you the time of day in our day & age. In our experience, Dr. Trachtenberg's friendliness is a tribute to the kind of doctor & person he is. His way of calculating my walking issues, was very different than I'd ever experienced. It worked!!! People complain about the doctor having "the hand on the door" experience. Just the opposite with his office. They do care. It's great to see that in helping me, it's given Dr. Trachtenberg, and his team, great satisfaction. My feet require the support of orthotics. And, for me, the orthotics didn't fit every shoe. They couldn't. Just like clothes, all shoe companies vary in their sizing and/or quality. So, for me, I've stuck to one style of shoe. It took me some trial & error time to find. The best thing I did initially, was no matter where I bought my shoes, was to take them back to Dr. Trachtenberg for a final fitting with my orthotics. And, not saying that there aren't more shoes out there. But, for me, I found a style that fits my feet, along with my orthotics, just perfectly. I've never done one of these reviews, but in researching another doctor's comments today, I looked up Dr. Trachtenberg's name just for the fun of it. I had to respond. I have been a patient of Dr. Trachtenberg for approximately 20 years. I had so much pain in my knees that I was going up stairs backward, sitting down. After the initial consultation, I thought the gait analysis and orthotics were much too simple to help me, but my husband insisted. Dr. Trachtenberg is a miracle worker! After seeing 3 other doctors and having 5 surgeries, my feet were a mess. My right foot in particular was very uncomfortable. I usually felt like I was walking on a golf ball. Dr. Trachtenberg was recommended to me by a family who had all been helped by him, I have never been so happy! I feel as though I've been given a new foot! He has totally improved my quality of life as I no longer have pain. He is patient and very exacting. For the past 4 years, I, Mark, have been a patient of Dr. Trachtenberg's. I went to him because I had 4 different pains, in my back and hip. Each time I went to the walk-in or E.R. I was simply given a muscle relaxant & pain meds, treating only my symptoms (pain). I saw Dr.Trachtenberg's ad. As a functional MD, he first finds the sources of one's pains which then help him to diagnose the issues and develop a plan for treatment. I paid. for a 1-hour consult. Dr. T. watched me walk, including the swinging of my arms. He examined my feet, to see how each foot had been worn down or calloused. Before leaving, he gave me a paper listing each step (and its cost) that must occur before proceeding with his in-depth, computer-assisted diagnosis and treatment. I agreed to proceed. Step 1: At a nearby chiropractor I got x-rays of my legs, ensuring they are of the same length. They are. Step 2: Total exam by a 2nd chiropractor, making sure there was no other issue that perhaps Dr. T. did not see. Result: No other issues. This chiro. said that he has lost a sizable amount of patients to Dr. T., since Dr. T. diagnoses the cause of their back/other pains as being caused by improper foot/gait issues. After treatment by Dr. Tr., these patients no longer need chiropractic help! Step 3: Back to Dr. Tr. for a full exam. With the help of a video camera, computer w/bio-mechanical software, electrodes on my legs and into my shoes, Dr. Tr. had me walk on a 30' runway, focusing on my gait. Even the swinging of one's arms can help diagnose an issue one may have. Electrodes inside my shoes helped the computer to see how my feet were moving inside of my shoes. Step 4: Dr. Tr. studied all of the recorded data to help him to engineer a set of orthotics for my feet. (His homework) He then had an outside facility create these Rx orthotics which are NOTHING like the ones prescribed for me from a local orthopedic dr. in 1985. Step 5: Using Dr. Tr.'s specs, I ordered 2 pairs of shoes, 1 from him and 1 from local Gearcor. Step 6: Dr. Tr. showed me how to fit the orthotics into the new shoes. He had me walk in them, making sure they felt comfortable. He requested that I come back after having worn these shoes w/orthotics for one month. I did. Step 7: I was asked to fill out a form, asking about the 4 previous pains in my body. I was happy to be able to honestly say that ALL FOUR pains had disappeared! Dr. Trachtenberg's functional medicine expertise (w/ the assistance of technology) totally removed all my pains! Teamwork, sending me to 2 other drs., helped ensure that Dr. Tr. had left no stone unturned in his diagnosis. Step 8: I see Dr. Tr. every 6 mos. so he can assess my progress and see if my orthotics or shoes need to be replaced or upgraded. Besides fixing my issues, Dr. Tr. totally explained to me how my issues probably developed, starting from childhood. He explained how hard my nervous system had to work, as my brain was sending signals to my feet to move a certain way, but because my feet were not able to move in that way, a 2nd signal was going back to my brain having my feet create an alternate movement. He said, "You must be exhausted at day's end." I definitely was, as my job had me standing on a concrete floor for most of the day, plus walking up 84 stairs to a different part of my school building (all in 3 minutes), then back to my classroom each day. As we age, our bodies get to a point where their connected parts just can't take it any more. Dr. Trachtenberg definitely led my body back to proper movement and health! He has chosen to treat foot problems this way rather doing surgery (which is far more expensive and invasive). Dr. T. is an "out of network" dr. He provides 2 copies of the bill. I mail in 1 copy, seeking partial reimbursement from BCBS. Dr. Trachtenberg, to us, is a GEM! He has patients in 48 states! We are blessed to have him in OUR area!
