Shannon Macleod was so helpful with my estate planning. After losing my husband she set up my will,…read morea trust, healthcare proxy and POA. She is knowledgeable and understanding. She also helped me with my fathers estate. Thank you for all your help! Diane, Babylon, NY

After my elderly mother received terrible advice from an attorney at a very large firm who had…read moredrawn up her will (he was pushing an irrevocable trust that was clearly not in her best interest but would profit the firm considerably, and there were several things wrong with the will as well), we began an online search for a reputable elder and estate planning attorney. Impressed with the reviews left for Shannon Macleod, we made an appointment. After carefully listening to our thoughts and concerns, Shannon explained the options that would fit my mom's needs best in a clear and concise manner. She explained why some options were not the best fit, outlining the pros and cons of each in a way that made it easy for my mother to understand. She was patient and kind, repeating the information and thoroughly answering questions to make sure that my mother understood her options and was comfortable with her decision. My mother finally feels confident that her needs have been met: so very different from the aftermath of her dealings with the former firm, which left her extremely confused as to what she was being talked into doing. I feel better knowing that my mom's assets are protected should she need to access them for care and support as she ages. In addition, the office is warm and welcoming, everything was handled quickly and efficiently, and the cost for services rendered was not only well below what we had anticipated, but was *considerably* less than what the large firm had been billing (for subpar and even erroneous advice).

I started working with Mike after the passing of my mother in 2016. As a helpless, young 23 year old with no knowledge of law or the court system, he actually helped settle her estate quickly, but after that.... It's been radio silence since!!!! I signed a retainer agreement in late 2018 to begin a new lawsuit and paid the retainer fee. Please note, this was PRE-PANDEMIC. I had ZERO communication from Mike after I signed the retainer... then entire year of 2019 flies by after dozens, and I mean DOZENS, of phone calls, emails, texts to Mike's personal line.. he told me once or twice papers were ready to be filed with the court... I would call to follow up, left many messages requesting a call back... No response. No actions. No explanation behind the hold up. Now it's 2021 and the pandemic is in full force, so Mike is able to chalk up the delay to the pandemic and courts being closed. Mind you, this is almost TWO WHOLE YEARS AFTER THE RETAINER WAS SIGNED!!! Pandemic has now calmed down, courts are open, he's obviously taken on more clients and continues to blow me off. I call looking for updates on several more occasions and nothing. Literally ghosted by an attorney at law who is supposed to help you fight for what's right and just. Now, here I am 30 years old and Mike has been dragging my me along for the last seven years and all I want to do is close that previous chapter of my life. I asked Mike in the early spring of 2022 for my $5,000 retainer fee back after asking him if this is how he treats all of his clients to which he said, "No, it's unacceptable and I apologize. What's your address? I'll send you back your retainer agreement." Yet here we are another 3 months later and still nothing. I can't be the only individual with such a horrific and traumatizing experience. I wanted to give Mike the benefit of the doubt, but here I am still grasping for straws with this guy. The most unprofessional, unreliable, least empathetic professional I've ever dealt with. Save your money, your time, your sanity and go elsewhere for an attorney. You'll regret it like me if you don't. I would give zero stars if I could for how upsetting and drawn out of an experience this has been with Michael Cox.
