This guy is a jerk. 6 o'clock in the morning as I was waiting In preop he failed to sign the shoulder he was supposed to do surgery on. The nurses had to go get him and he was livid. he came into preop looking very angry, threw back my gown and hurriedly signed the shoulder he was supposed to have signed before he dressed for surgery. he then said to me, " I don't even know why I am messing with you" then he stomped off. 30 seconds later I was being wheeled off into surgery. I can only assume that he did not care about what he was doing and it has haunted me ever since. The surgery did not take away my pain. if I knew a way to sue him, I certainly would! read more

It's been four years since Dr. Thabit repaired my torn meniscus. I've never encountered a doctor who was as rude and inconsiderate as this guy. He was almost an hour late to each appointment even though I scheduled the first appointment of the day in the hopes of getting in and out on time. During our last appointment, he was on the phone next to the office for over 30 minutes while I waited and listened in the waiting room. When he finally showed up, there was no apology and when I confronted him about his habit of being late, he said "don't start with me mister!" Like it was my fault - that I should not even broach the subject of the doctor making a patient wait for nearly an hour, not once, not twice but three times. How rude of me! Furthermore, he never saw me on the day of my surgery, either before or after the surgery, maybe this is typical but I'm not sure. It would have been nice and this has been the case for other surgeries that I've had done. During one of the follow up appointments I met with an assistant (not sure why he did not see me) she was on the phone with a care giver about her sick child during my entire appointment time with her. All in all it was a bad experience with an arrogant, asshole doctor. But to be fair, my knee is fine and I have a friend who used Thabit and had a totally fine experience. I met Dr Thabit about 10 years ago, after some meniscus tear, torn ACL during a hiking trip in Hawaii...He did fixed me up well and later did my ACL replacement. I had some other complications so I had to schedule other surgeries in between and he provided valuable advise on how to go over the whole thing and very good recomendations on specialist and type of procedures I had to get and in what order. He has also helped me with post op after a leg fracture--yes the same leg of the replaced ACL which by the way did not break! He is emphatic, but yet realistic and wont give you BS as to recovery time, he will tell you thruth and real recovery estimates, has a great sense of humor, and has provided best advice as to other specialist, therapists, and companies that make the braces... read more

Dr. George Thabit of SOAR is absolutely superior in his medical skills in every way possible! He and his medical staff honestly deserve 10 stars! His entire staff is genuinely helpful and very congenial. My first right shoulder surgery by Dr. Thabit at SOAR occurred back in 1995 when I had terrible nerve impingement pain from "tubulosity" - a lose shoulder capsule - that prevented me from bodybuilding at the gym, and restricted other physical functionality. As one of Dr. Thabit's first patients in the practice of arthroscopic laser surgery at that time, I must declare to all readers that Dr. Thabit not only successfully removed my pain and restored my shoulder functionality, my shoulder was far stronger than ever before, and for the past 21 years I have pounded heavy weights at the gym thanks to Dr. George Thabit! He is truly the best in my book! Dr. Thabit, his assistant Cherly and the SOAR team have been my go to knee Doctor for more than 15 years. After a mediocre ACL at Good Samaritan in 1998 my physical therapist recommended SOAR for future work. 2 years later Thabit redid that ACL and I've never looked back. 15 years, 2 ACL's, an Oats procedure, too many aspirations and injections to count I won't trust my knees to anyone else. San Mateo and San Jose staff are friendly and professional. Offices are clean and comfortable and majority of the time I'm seen promptly. Voicemails need to be left for peripheral team but I typically get a call in a reasonable time and if needed speak to a receptionist who will direct. read more

He is super nice, until he gets your money, he doesn't try to even do a good job or even take extra time to remove any scar tissue... I went to Dr. Thabit after tearing my rotator cuff a second time. My local sports doc was not impressed with my first surgery and recommended him as "the best". And he was. Even though my second injury was much worse than the first, my recovery time was much shorter and easier. On the recommendation of a friend, I went to see Dr. Thabit for a sports injury affecting my left knee. Dr. Thabit expertly examined my knee, and quickly concluded that I probably had ACL and meniscus tears. Dr. Thabit realized that even with this diagnosis, he really couldn't help me any further without seeing an MRI of my knee. For this reason, he didn't charge me for the visit which was extremely kind and generous. He truly is a great guy, really funny and easy to talk to and confident about his work. After the visit, he offered to re-examine my knee after he sees my MRI. I will definitely come back to him for more information, and even for surgery on my knee, if it comes to that. read more

I was very pleased with the result of my shoulder surgery (for calicific tendonitus) and the whole process in fact. Dr. Thabit took the time to listen to my concerns and questions, present options and then his opinion. This was my first major surgery and I felt like I was in good hands. All of the staff at SOAR (SJ and RWC) were super helpful from check-in/scheduling, to Art in billing and Debbie helping with the disability claim paperwork. I was very happy with the results of Dr. Thabit's rotator cuff surgery on my shoulder. He gave me various options during a consultation. I gave physical therapy a shot but that didn't do it so after an MRI I was able to schedule surgery quickly and get it repaired. The recovery was fast and I regained all my mobility in a short time. He also did both of my wife's shoulders and she had similar, good results. Office visits can be delayed because he does spend more time with patients than most doctors I know so schedule yours for early in the day :-) I would definitely recommend him to anyone with a shoulder problem. read more

Dr. Thabit is so good at knees he has done both of my husband's knees and as of about a month ago, he has now done both of my knees. My husband had to have an ACL replacement in one of his knees, he now runs without even wearing a brace. I am just barely 30 days out and went back to my spin class this week. The man knows his knees. I also think he has a good personality for a doctor, he is very direct, won't fuss over you, and has a great sense of humor, I always left my appointments smiling. If you are looking for a lot of "hand holding" it might not be a good fit, but if you just want to get in, get out and get on with your life with the best damn knee ever, he's your guy. Be very careful if you go to this Doctor. I don't believe he cares based on my experience. Long story short, he should have never done the surgery he did on my knee and now I need viscosupplementation for the rest of my life! About 15 years ago I went to George Thabit with a history of chondromalacia. That is pain under the knee cap. He convinced me that he would do an arthroscopic surgery where he would clean out the knee with a procedure called a debridement. Also he said he saw a tear on the meniscus from an image of my knee. He said that could be causing my pain under my knee cap. This is the wrong course of action as I would learn later. Shaving off part of the meniscus when the pain is not coming from there does not make sense. The pain was under the knee cap. You will only cause permanent knee pain for no reason as that cushion is now gone. I am living proof. Again this is when there was no complaint of pain from the meniscus area which is the cushion for the upper and lower leg bones. I wished I would not have trusted this man. I should have done more research and been more knowledgeable at the time. I trusted him and I feel he only cared about the money. Right after the surgery i called his office and complained of worse pain than before the surgery It seemed he was expecting this as he immediately sent me to a Rheumatoligist associated with his office. i started the viscosupplemention with the rheumatologist and have needed it ever since. it is quite expensive and requires multiple injections per year. Currently it is not covered much under my insurance. therefore i worry what i will do and how i will get the injections. I don't think this Doctor cared one bit, it was all about getting in there and charging for a procedure. I wish I could go back in time and have been more knowledgeable. Thanks! read more

Dr Thabit takes the hippocratic oath to the extreme. I needed to see a doctor before a business trip and Dr Thabit was available as a last minute replacement to the doctor I had seen. I was very lucky because he figured out my problem, which was much different from my previous diagnosis. To confirm, he had me carry out the necessary tests. Worried that I may need the immediate help of a surgeon, he got me an appointment in one day with an accomplished specialist, that would normally take six to eight weeks. I had Dr. Thabit as my orthopedic surgeon for 2 shoulder surgeries (rotator cuff / bicep tendon tear / bursitis). I would not recommend him at all. He removed two inches of my clavicle and did not tell me. I found out 2 years later after I could not rehabilitate completely. Dr. Thabit has been my orthopedist for about 10 years. I find him courteous, responsive, knowledgable and a whiz at meniscus surgery and cortisone shots. With his help, I have managed to stave off knee replacement surgery for several years. The practice is very large, so sometimes there is a lag in receiving calls back, however if you mention "pain" the callback is very quick. In the past, I had trouble with the billing people, but mentioned my frustration to Dr. Thabit and he and I both walked immediately to that office and the problem was resolved on the spot. Dr. Thabit performed cutting edge cartilage transplant, one of the most difficult knee surgeries. A good surgeon is hard to find ( no offense to anyone) and Dr. Thabit is an example of a great person and a great physician.
