They are my "go to" when it comes to finding a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of busy life, and to visit my extended family that lives in the area too. My parents recently had a 2 night getaway and stayed at EZ cabin near Helen. Upon arrival you are greeted by a nasty old bus and then dead trees surround the cabin and one has actually fallen on the cabin. It looked like they removed it off the roof and just tarped the area. The piece of tree that had fallen was placed near the walkway and was partially in the walkway. Not a very good first impression. The inside of the cabin is pretty basic and the decor is pretty dated. The hot tub smelled strongly of chlorine and eventually gave us headaches. Overall, not super impressed. read more

Initially going to give a 1-star rating, here's why I changed it to 3-stars: I reserved this cabin1 month in advanced and put $100 deposit to make sure we got it. This trip was a couples(4 couples)trip for Valentine's Day Weekend, Friday-Sunday(2/12-2/14). My phone conversations w/the cabin reps. were always pleasant and friendly especially considering the amount of times I kept calling to get my many questions answered. We all had looked at the cabin pictures on the website to determine what cabin suited our needs. We decided upon the cabin, Highline, which consisted of 4 beds/4 baths so every couple had their own bedroom and bathroom and nobody had to share rooms. Fast-forward to our arrival: We get there and to our dismay, they had ROACHES!!! Roaches, no, not water bugs(the kind that come from trees and outdoors)! Roaches that come from NASTINESS!!! We immediately called the office and they had a cabin w/a cancellation and told us to check it out, see if we liked it and call them back. We looked at it, didn't like it b/c we would have had to share bathrooms and some of the bedrooms had bunk beds and twin beds. So we decided to keep our Highline Cabin. Needless to say our trip was disappointing b/c of the unexpected roach problem. Anyway to make a long story short, I contacted them again at our checkout and told them again about the problem and was told to call back on Monday when the office opened. When I talked to someone on Monday, and told them that we needed to be compensated for the roach infestation, they finally agreed and credited my account! YAAY!! So for this, they get 3 stars instead of 1! If you're inquiring about this property, make sure you call and get info. on the cabin that you want to make sure they properly exterminate so you won't have the problem we encountered. Overall experience: If there weren't roaches, we would have had a GREAT TIME and the rating would've been 5 Stars!! Note to business: Please exterminate after families leave, b/c people can be nasty and bring in roaches from home! read more

Very bad experience in our rental, Mauldin Creek Cabin, and it doesn't appear to be an isolated one based on what I'm reading on other Yelp reviews. Smelled moldy upon arrival like it had been shut up for quite a while. At least it was nice outside so we opened windows and doors, but the screens all had holes and overall damage to them so weren't terribly effective in keeping bugs out. Bought lots of candles and bug spray, but didn't see the FIRST roach until after returning from grocery store. Otherwise would have bought roach spray and traps because they are crawling ALL OVER this place! Baby ones to fully grown German cockroaches and the spider webs are all over the interior and exterior as well. And these aren't normal little webs. These are HUGE cobwebs with dead things in them that just weren't cleaned by the cleaning crew before our arrival or within several months because these didn't develop overnight. Of course, it's the woods in the mountains, but I would think they could have at least cleaned a little better and completed some kind of pest control? I began to make jokes that this cabin is simply being prepped for Halloween coming up with all the bugs and cobwebs in place, but I wish I would have checked out Yelp before reserving! I never would have rented anything from Georgia Mountain Rentals and caution anyone to think twice before doing so! read more

I really don't like giving bad reviews. I read every possible review I could of Prokopf Haus before we arrived and I saw no mention of bed bugs. This rental had a pretty significant infestation of bed bugs in one of the upstairs bedrooms as discovered by two of my friends on May 5, 2018 at about 3:30am. They moved their belongings out of the room and were forced to sleep on the floor and in the bathtub because when they pulled out the sofa bed, there were dead bugs there as well. I have no idea how the cleaning person didn't see the bugs unless they just didn't change the sheets which is disgusting and unacceptable. These were textbook signs of bedbugs - actual bugs (alive and dead), and little brown spots dotting the mattress seams. There was no one answering the phones at the property rental office at that hour, so we were forced to stay there the whole night. The reason I'm giving two stars is because the property manager did give us a full refund and moved us to a much nicer and more expensive property for free (Creek Retreat). The downside was that it was not close to town like Prokopf Haus, so we had to stay in for the night as none of us could drive after a full day of wine touring. When I returned home, I had to leave my luggage and belongings outside in the heat wrapped in garbage bags for two days because I wasn't taking any chances on bringing that funkiness into my home. I'm not writing this review to be ugly to Georgia Mountain Rentals. I'm writing it to be helpful to someone else who is considering staying in this particular cabin. We first booked a cabin (woodland waltz) with this company in 2014, and had such a great experience that we knew we'd book with them again the next time we returned to Georgia. So, fast forward to January 2018, we booked a stay at the Buckhead lodge. When we arrived at the cabin, we found the basement's carpet(where the pool table is) was soaked and there was no running water. Turns out a pipe had burst between the time housekeeping was there and our arrival, apparently due to the freezing temperatures. So, we called the office and Sherry was very helpful and apologetic (although it's obviously not their fault) and Jim (the owner) came rushing over to see if it was something he could fix immediately. The repair would need to wait for the following day, so they upgraded us to one of their luxury cabins (the River Haus), which was GORGEOUS. Now, to further demonstrate just how amazing their customer service is, when we arrived at the River Haus there was a delicious Chicken Pot Pie from Betty's waiting for us in the oven (I had, in passing, mentioned to the office that we had driven 13 hours with several small children to get there and were starving)--this was SUCH a thoughtful gesture, that we were actually in shock. Anyway, they offered us the luxury cabin for the remainder of our stay but we chose to go back to Buckhead once the pipe was fixed because we really wanted that gorgeous Mountain View and some wilderness and solitude. There were no other issues with the pipes. Regarding cleanliness, both times we've stayed the cabins have been very clean. No complaints. Don't think twice and just book with Georgia Mountain Rentals! read more

I have rented the same house on the same week every year for the last 8 years. I have always had a standing reservation for that house which we always got signed up for in January. Every year. Until this year, which would've been the 9th year. Georgia mountain rentals forgot about our rental and rented our house out to someone else. Their only solution was to give us a menial discount on a place that is 3x the price of our old place and to say whoops, our bad. Ridiculous. read more

We were contacted for the second time to ask us if we would give them another shot. I appreciate the effort and we are going back in November. Stayed for 3 nights at Deer Tracks cabin. Nice 1 bedroom cabin. Everything was clean and working, We had a problem with the hot tub flashing a code and not heating. Called the office and Isaac walked us through trying to fix the problem. Not able to resolve the issue over the phone he said that he'd come out to look at it. He was there and had it fixed in 15 minutes. Nice service. The cabin could use some new, more comfortable living area furniture. The bed needs to be replaced. Some of the light fixtures need tightening up. Nothing major. It was nice to have both an outdoor hot tub and an indoor double Jacuzzi tub for two. The decorations were nice. Could have used some type of window shade for the upper windows in the bedroom to keep the afternoon light of the bed. Found the staff at GA Mountain Rentals to be helpful and friendly. Had no problems at all. They were able to accomodate us next day for a group of 7. Everything was clean, the only part that worried me was that the rails on the patio area of the second and third floor of our cabin would come right off (scary sight for a mom seeing her 2 year old take the railing off with such ease). Luckily, we didn't let them out of our sight for a second, but thought it was worth noting for future families.This was at the Deer Creek Crossing cabin. read more

I am so impressed by the customer service and quality of the cabin I rented! It was the perfect size and location, about 7 miles from Helen. Everything worked properly in the cabin and was clean! This place of business doesn't even deserve 1 star. We booked our cabin back in March for a fun filled weekend in July. Everything was great until our first night in the cabin. The first thing we noticed was the 1 window unit on the 1st floor was spraying moisture & had the wall, carpet, & padding wet. I happen to be a certified Mold Remediation Tech, and noticed the mold smell in the cabin. After further inspection, it turns out the ENTIRE 1st floor of the cabin was severely infested with mold. My wife called the after hours number & spoke with Jim. Since they were completely booked, there wasn't anything he could do. He did say he'd give us a refund & pay for the night in a hotel. Unfortunately, all the hotels were booked & we had no choice but to stay. The next day when my wife spoke with Jim, he started balking on a refund, but after a bit of complaining did manage to tell me 8 people were checking out & they'd get a cabin cleaned & move us. We spent the day shooting the Hooch & did get moved to a nice cabin and even though there were only 2 beds for 5 people, we made it work! After checking out the next day, I called to speak to Jim about a 50% refund. We only stayed 2 nights & one ended up being in a mold infested cabin. Jim, however, decided we were not getting a refund. We have filed a complaint through the Better Business Bureau & the Georgia Department of Public Health. Renting a cabin infested with mold is a serious health concern, especially since this is their busy season & the cabin has been rented out tons of times. We did receive an email a few days later stating we'd get a partial refund, but not near the 50% refund we requested. They also stated they cleaned the window unit (that's most likely the cause of the mold), but cleaning that ancient unit is not going to stop it from leaking all over the wall & carpet & padding. Therefore, not solving the actual problem. We have told them a 50% refund is the least we will take , but of course haven't heard anything back in a week. We LOVED this place!!! We booked only 3 weeks in advance and stayed in a one bedroom place. They went above and beyond for our stay. We arrived late and had not had time to go to the store- but to our suprise there was wine and firewood already waiting for us! The cabin was so warm and cozy and was the perfect long weekend getaway! We loved our hot tub on the front porch. My husband and I strayed at the Honeymoon Haven cabin for 3 nights to celebrate our 27th anniversary. We had no problems at all. The cabin was clean and the hot tub on the deck was immaculate. The cabin was definitely secluded, just as it was advertised and that is exactly what we wanted. I do have a couple of suggestions: 1) would be to have someone turn the air on before arrival so that its not so stuffy and 2) recommend putting a light fixture on the wall above the stove and kitchen counter, its a bit on the dark side for cooking and preparing food.
