This is a fun place! Even more fun because kids under 10 are free! lol! They have a large variety of foods to pick from in every category (Carnivore, Pescatarian, Vegetarian) unsure about vegan options. The place is huge, I was able to close my Excercise ring quickly. I didn't encounter any rude business or fair goers. Overall I had a good time. Parking lot can use some lighting at night but they do have parking attendants out there. Plenty of parking. Where your walking shoes. And bring a hat the sun is beaming. Pricing is decent. The park itself is huge! They have games and rides. A huge lake with a water show. People walking on stilts. It's like an amusement park and circus all in one. They also have pig races,a tiger show, and live music just to name a few of their attractions. Cool fair food and beverages and I always look forward to the funnel cake and homemade lemonade. If you have a Fitbit you will definitely get your steps in lol. Admissions was $10 for adults. I think if you purchase it online thru their site then you can get $1 off. Kids 10 and under are free! The fairground was huge. Make sure you wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Don't forget to bring cash as well. This is def an all day sort of thing as the lights come on at night and the rides have a different flair. Speaking of rides, each ride will be about $5 since that's the average number of tickets for the rides. And that's the price for the larger quantity of 65 tickets for $60. Aside from the typical rides and games. There was the petting zoo with some exotic animals, a pig race, sea lion show, magic show, circus with four very different performers (this was the best), and so much more! There was also the Georgia Grown pavilion where you can buy local products and sample food. This place had AC so it was a nice reprieve from the hot weather outside. Also, I think there is a firework show later in the night. We didn't stay since the rain from Nate brought the fun to an early end. The drive to Perry might not be fun, but with all the shows and entertainment, paying $10 was well worth it. read more

Don't get me wrong. The fair was super fun! Just insanely expensive. Each ticket is $1.25, and each ride costs about 5 tickets, so they're pretty expensive. My kids rode a haunted house ride called Ghost Manor, and I rode it with them. It was the worst $5 I've ever spent. First, when the ride started, we got stuck at the very beginning on the track. When the worker, who was smoking, came to push us down the track, part of one of the walls fell over. I should've gotten out while i still could. It was not scary at all, a few things light up when you pass by. Then our cart got stuck inside the ride again, and another cart bumped into us. Then the worker came to push us along the track again. That was a waste of money. Other than that, I had an amazing experience. Rides I enjoyed: Surfs Up, Zipper, Tidal Wave, Agrolift, Super Himalaya, The fresh squeezed lemonade is also great. It's worth $6, and they give half price refills. Overall, the fair was fun, just the ghetto Ghost Manor haunted house ruined part of the day. read more

The perry fair is our favorite to visit every year! We drive there from Atlanta to the Macon area just to go to the Perry fair! Fun rides. Don't forget the funnel cakes! Also they always have farm animals! read more

We came here, because my husband wanted to surprise me with a hot air balloon ride, for our wedding anniversary. We got here 2 hours before take off, and there were dog shows. The area is well maintained and clean. We didn't get to go on the balloon ride, because of the wind, but we had fun walking around the different buildings. read more

Compared to some other state fairs, if you put this one in that league it doesn't stack up so well. I found a few beautiful things in the arts and crafts building, but overall it was rather ho-hum. I could make tracks fast as nothing much held my interest. I you are flexible on when your going, it pays to go on an off day. Prices of entry and rides vary day by day. It all depends on whats happening, any day of the week. SO if your into rides, certain days have unlimited rides with entry and you get an armband and ride all day. Every 4 years when the Governor is up, they have a political debate which draws a big crowd. Each side buses in supporters and it can get unbearably loud. Bring ear plugs!!! The best part of the whole fair I think is the entertainment offered. It all depends on what you like but go online and look over the website with who's on day by day. Generally there are a few paid entry required performances, but then there are many oldies but goodies and other types you can enjoy for free! Everyday there are performances. SO....look it over and its quite possible you might find someone you would really like to see, and if your lucky it would be on a low price entry day! Yesterday I went, it was a Tuesday, Adult admission was $8. The Fifth Dimension performed followed by the Spinners. If you like oldies right there you got a deal for your eight bucks! Food is pricey as it seems all fairs are. Turkey legs, $10 a leg! . However right after entry of the North Gate on left I found a place that had big home made brownies for $1 and a little paper bowl of grilled vegetables for $2. For those on a budget, or for a vegetarian trapped in a sea of junk food you cannot eat, that's a real find! read more

THE SPRING HOME AND GARDEN SHOW! My husband and I stopped by to check out the local home and garden show. Unfortunately we arrived on day two and hours after opening. This is not smart because those little gardening grannies are going to swoop down on day one and grab up all of the goodies. Small towns usually have small shows so if you are going, you had better get there early. You also have to be mindful of the fact that you are going to have limited variety in smaller areas as well. We were in town for other reasons but wanted to stop by to see what they might have available since we are still looking for plants. Everything was really picked over and they had many of the same plants from vendor to vendor. I love plants that are different and a bit exotic, but I guess this is not likely in certain areas of the state. The cool thing about this event is that they had plenty of Master Gardeners available to answer all of your gardening questions. I was stuck at the sunroom vendor because this particular vendor (GA Sunrooms), had great photo albums of various projects that they had completed. I love that no matter the design or architecture, they were able to seamlessly add the addition to fit in with the existing structure. The other guy's additions seemed to be one design that was just stuck on the side of any home and not in a way that produced a finished and polished look. We were able to find a design that we really like and will give additional consideration for a future product. ***The space we were in was very wide and open so it was totally accessible if you needed to use a wheelchair. ***There was a large play area of front for the kiddies. *** Bathrooms were very conveniently located right off of the main floor. ***There was a designated "holding" area at the rear of the space where you could park your purchased plants while shopping. You could then just pick them all up when you were finished with all of your shopping. ***They have a food court available if you need to grab something to eat while shopping. Remember: if you are going toattend, you will want to go on opening day and first thing in the morning for the best selection. read more

I had high expectations because I heard this fair was the bomb. I like the night view so we went at night. It was crowded and the weather was cool. Honestly, I was expecting something like what I see on Food Network. Maybe we just don't have it in Georgia. Size wise, compared to Gwinnett Fair, Georgia National Fair is triple the size. Every state probably has a giant fair. Georgia's happens to be in the center of the state (aka near the middle of nowhere). Good ol' Perry, Georgia, home to Sonny Perdue and speed traps on the highway. Perry's biggest claim to fame is perhaps the fairgrounds, a sprawling flat area that hosts a variety of events, the main one being the Georgia National Fair in October. Having never attended the rodeos and such, I'll simply review the fair since I've gone a few times. I will say that the grounds are very well kept and are very large, handling crowds very well and giving one ample room to move around no matter the event. The GNF is like your typical carnival; there are rides that make you wonder if the bolts are going to pop off and food that makes you question if you remembered to bring your insurance card along with you. It's all in a good way, of course, but it's not one of the better festivals I've been to. I found it a bit daunting to need tons of tickets to ride the rides, especially when a lot of the rides didn't seem to be worth the amount I was handing over. It was fun to stick around until nightfall to see all the lights and I could see it being a great place for families to bring their kids, but for a single gal it was a little lackluster. Perhaps I was treated too well at other large fairs (Del Mar Fair in California comes to mind). If you've never been and you're residing in Georgia, it'd be fun to take a road trip and check it out. Perhaps it'd be more amazing with a larger group of friends? If you have kids, then definitely plan on making a trip out here for the fair. Did you know? They have deep fried twinkies for $3! At first, I thought it'd just be really disgusting gross and vomitness, but it's actually really good! They crisp up the twinkie on the outside, so it give its a little bit of a crunch... then the inside is oozing, creamy, and melt in your mouth good. We saw only two stands located near the rides and they also offer fried oreos which I didn't try. I wasn't bold enough to do it. They also have great BBQ stands with people smoking about 20 yards worth of stuff. I don't usually get a chance to see stuff like that in Atlanta, so I thought it was pretty neat. Our tickets were $8 (and they're FREE for kids under 10 and FREE parking) and we stayed for about 1.5 hours. The rides can get a little bit pricey up to $10. Overall, I think it was worth it just for the food and fun. That game where you try to stand up the beer bottle isn't as easy as it looks. Other than that, I'd give the state fair a FAIR chance. We went to the fair Sunday with friends and had a great time! We took pictures with some very sweet seals, watched a pig race, ate greasy chili cheese fries, and rode the ferris wheel. The lines for rides were ridiculously long, so we wasted money on the armbands. We should've just purchased tickets for individual rides and saved our money. This place isn't just all about the fair. How about some buck a rama action or dog shows or Christmas mistletoe market. Yep there are a lot of different events that are held at this venue. There is usually something going on a monthly basis. Sign up for email alert from the web page and you get a sense of everything going on. The one thing that I like about the fair is the live music and concerts. Plenty of big named acts have shows during the fair. Most of the music is country but they do have some pop groups to come through. Oh yeah buck a rama is all that and a bag of tater chips. I won first place in the deer head judging. Yeah you heard right, deer head judging. The best part is that I didn't even have to shoot the deer I brought in. It was struck by a car and a buddy of mine got it mounted. Where else are you going to buy deer pee and camo all under a tin roof. read more

Fairgrounds feels like an old friend, but extremely well kept up. We were there for the annual fair. So,so much to do. Rides, animals , shows, circus, music. Fair food only happens in the fall so good, but not healthy. Two complaints. Most rides require a kid to be 42 inches. A few 36 inch rides. If the kid is less than 36 do not waste your time at the amusement rides. Most sandwiches approaching 10 dollars and drinks 5 dollars. If you saved up for the year go for it. If you want to go on the cheap bring your own food and drink and go to the car. There are plenty of free things to look at. This year was a first for the 2.5 yo grand boy. Sheep,cows, goats circus,roller coaster,horse rides, getting kissed by a sea lion, big tractor, big lawn mowers, 4 wheelers. Be aware of the weather. It can be hot. But once a year it is a lot of fun. read more

I've been coming to this fair for years to compete in 4-H competitions. I have loved it! My favorite part is seeing all the homemade crafts and things. I even got a few handkerchiefs for my dog ;) Oh, and the big honey place that is in the building with all the FFA exhibits, that is some good honey! I've been to trade shows here 5 or 6 times and the place is nice. Big enough to host different large events at once. Friendly staff. The onsite food isn't terrible, as with many venues like this. The building itself is clean and has a welcoming feel. I like it! read more

I might be a little biased since Perry is my hometown, but this is one of the best fairs around here. You have your carnival rides, which can be expensive if you buy your tickets at the fair. Kroger and some other stores around here sell discounted ride tickets prior to the fair starting up. If you know you are gonna go, I highly suggest going that route, otherwise wait until armband night. If the rides aren't your thing, there's plenty of other stuff to do and the concerts aren't too bad either. The walkways are not only clean, but paved. The bathrooms are usually always clean. Awesome fireworks show at night. My only complaint is parking (mainly the crowd leaving after the fireworks show), but that is to be expected with a fair of this size. read more
