The last time I was there was a little over a year ago, but I took some pictures and took the time to really look around. They have so many engaging things for children to do. The planetarium is really unique in the area. They have trains in the back and even have large models inside the trains for children to look at (at their eye level too!). They have different exhibits at different times, but there is generally always something interesting and educational here. I remember there being exhibits related to dinosaurs, electricity, and old newspaper clippings all over the place with interesting stories about Albany's history. Definitely worth giving a once over if you're only visiting Albany.

Jefferson Davis and his party were on the run from Richmond, continuing through North Carolina and Georgia. Union forces caught up with him here in Fitzgerald on May 9, 1865 and he was arrested. There is a monument marking the exact spot on this 13 acre historic site which includes a short walking trail, a gift shop and a museum. It is an interesting site and worth an hour though it is a bit of a journey off the Interstate. I've been to a number of Confederate sites, seen endless memorials across the South (and the North), battlefields including Gettysburg, Antietam and Chickamauga, and even the Davis home in Biloxi. There is SO much to see here. You move at your own pace and take as much time as you'd like. I think it might be nice if they offered tours since it's three stories, but it's definitely not hard to figure out and you aren't missing things if you don't go in a certain order. My favorite was the third floor where you could look outside and see all of the air planes. (There is no longer a cafe up there. There used to be!) We had all age ranges from 75 to 11. I think everyone enjoyed it. The gift shop was really cool and I was able to pick up some "souvenirs" from my home town. We did not encounter many employees except when we entered the building. That lady was super friendly and helpful. There was plenty of parking and this is FREE...so please check it out!

There is a lot to see. The first entrance has 3 floors to visit and there is 2 more hangars to go and see all the old planes and on top of that there were multiple planes across the property where we can drive by and visit everything. I would recommend to visit this place where you have a full day. On a Sunday it's open only from noon to the 5pm. Over all it's a great experience and there are friendly veterans who could help you where you want to go and any questions that want answers for it. Will come back again for sure with bigger group.

In back are the hangers where their restored aircraft are (and ones undergoing restoration). The volunteers are very willing to show you around and explain each plane and its historical significance.
