I came here for the first time in over two decades because some of my out of state family wanted to visit. I'm not big into aviation but my Dad was an Air Force lifer and I'm so glad that I decided to go with them. It was a rainy day so we only saw the main building but that still took almost 2 hours. There is SO much to see here. You move at your own pace and take as much time as you'd like. I think it might be nice if they offered tours since it's three stories, but it's definitely not hard to figure out and you aren't missing things if you don't go in a certain order. My favorite was the third floor where you could look outside and see all of the air planes. (There is no longer a cafe up there. There used to be!) We had all age ranges from 75 to 11. I think everyone enjoyed it. The gift shop was really cool and I was able to pick up some "souvenirs" from my home town. We did not encounter many employees except when we entered the building. That lady was super friendly and helpful. There was plenty of parking and this is FREE...so please check it out! read more

This is a wonderful museum for aviation fanatics. The whole museum is free to visit but donations are welcome. We visited this place on a Sunday with our 2 kids and they loved it. There is a lot to see. The first entrance has 3 floors to visit and there is 2 more hangars to go and see all the old planes and on top of that there were multiple planes across the property where we can drive by and visit everything. I would recommend to visit this place where you have a full day. On a Sunday it's open only from noon to the 5pm. Over all it's a great experience and there are friendly veterans who could help you where you want to go and any questions that want answers for it. What an honor and history that is within these hangers. Our son is stationed here and we truly got a royal tour. I highly recommend if you haven't been it could be a day thing! They have a shop where you can purchase hats,Tshirts and so much more. The planes inside will have you speechless and to know that these men and women fought in wars replicas of how they dressed and all. Just humbling. Thank you to all those who served and are still in! There are about 5 separate hangers to check out and so many interactive displays we were blown away! Incredibly kid and family friendly with a stem lab (about 8 3d printers along with three classrooms and awesome enthusiastic teachers) and tons of programming available so be sure to check your visiting date to see if you can register for any of them! Coloring sheets and info sheets geared for younger learners are available along with a reading nook for littles to recharge in. There is also an outdoor drive to see more exhibits. The exhibits were creative and a treat for the eyes! They even added puzzles to solve in some of them which was a fun challenging surprise! Only regret is we didn't schedule more time to enjoy this to the level it deserved! Expect to spend more time than you think because this museum is so much more than you're going to expect! This museum is HUGE so make sure you pack a picnic if you want to do it all in one day. I've been here at least three times and was only able to finish it completely on my last trip. Gift shop has cool, reasonably priced souvenirs and the volunteers were so lovely. They also sell dipping dots-like coffee ice cream which was really refreshing on a hot summer day. I have been to a number of aviation museums - 51 in my collection https://www.yelp.com/collection/0cY-NQxr4PY3Wntj3uA-xw - that includes the Carolina Aviation Museum (that has the "Miracle on the Hudson" plane), the Naval Air Station Wildwood Museum (lots of WWII aircraft), the Warhawk Air Museum (F104A Starfighter and a P-51C Mustang), the Technik Museum Sinsheim (both an American Concorde and the Soviet copy), and of course the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum near Omaha. Perhaps the closes to this experience is the National Museum of the United States Air Force near Dayton. This is four hangars of perfectly restored aircraft, a huge collection of memorabilia and even a few things that you (or your kids) can climb in for pictures. From the fighter-bombers outside to the history of aircraft in WWII to UAVs and missiles and an SR-71 Blackhawk. All of which are approachable and visible from multiple angles. This is a half-day at best, to read the captions, walk the floors and appreciate what it is like to project air power around the world. Well done, Warner Robins. This is wonderful. Plenty of ample parking. Upon entering we were greeted by volunteer docents that helped us with deciding what to start with and answering many questions. Our middle child was on crutches so we borrowed a manual wheelchair and were thankful for it. This place can easily take more than a few hours. There are multiple levels in the Eagle building and at least 2 levels in the other 3 buildings. All very well laid out, informative and all staff were helpful. We enjoyed our time there. We do recommend having a cafe. Maybe a WW2 themed cafe? Will be back to visit some day. Highly recommend! read more

Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars? This museum has a lot of fun planes right here. There are 3 main buildings that house planes and gear from the Vietnam war, Korean war, WW2, etc. Furthermore, there are planes outside in the field where you can touch the planes, which are super fun. One of the best parts is that it is free. I'll say it again, FREE! I am a big fan of free, so this is a good spot for families, date, or a solo trip. Hidden Gem south of Atlanta! FREE ADMISSION!!! I live 2 hours away and have seen the billboard on I-16 so many times, but just 'jetted' on by. I finally stopped for a short 20min visit during a trip, just to see what this museum was all about. I WILL BE BACK FOR FULL VISIT! It's great for aviation buffs (like me), just as much as for families to entertain and educate their kiddos. Located at the Warner Robbins Air Force Base, this museum is loaded with real aircraft on display. There is a B1 Bomber and an A-10 Warthog greeting you out front of the main entrance. There are numerous aircraft outside, spread throughout the grounds. - Over 80 Aircraft - 4th Most Visited DoD Museum - Over 500,000 Annual Visitors The museum was very well staffed, with many people ready to help and guide me. There are four main buildings which are well laid out and very clean and spacious. I didn't have time to walk through all on this visit. I made a quick pass through main building and the "Centuries of Flight" building which enhouses an SR-71 blackbird!!! Very cool as only 32 were ever built! The main building has an F15 cockpit that you can sit in, which is a great experience to feel what it is like (there isn't a lot of room for the pilot). They also offer a VR simulator experience. I wanted to try, but am saving for next time. The museum has FREE parking and admission. I recommend you leave a donation and stop in the gift store to support the cause. Great place to walk around, take some pictures, and see some cool Air force stuff. I went into 3 buildings all with different types of airplanes, Army Vehicles, and Helicopters in them. Each building had a person or 2 behind the information desk or standing. The gift shop is in the big building closest to the parking lot. The venue itself is peaceful and quiet... I think it would be a pretty cool place to run or jog around actually. The museum gift shop was mostly shirts. Not too many sizes. There were a decent amount of Nine Line Apparel shirts and Airforce stuff. There was at least one person in each building, the building in the back had 2 people that acted as informational persons. I travel for business and when my son is available, he travels with me and we hit military museums in the area. The Museum of Aviation has been on our list for a while, so we were anticipating good exhibits. And you know what, WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED. The museum had a large selection of original planes going from WW II forward and segmented the planes by era. I particularly liked the Cold War/Vietnam era planes and my done was thrilled to see an original SR-71 Blackbird, which was a sight to behold. I really enjoyed seeing a restored B-17 which my father flew in during the war. You should allow about four to six hours to view everything. We were disappointed in the docents in the first building, we missed the top two floors and had to retrace out steps. But the docents in the other three buildings were amazing, giving us insight into the planes and missions and even pilot experiences. There was an exhibit on the movie GOD IS MY CO-PILOT which was the experience from a local WWII pilot, which was interesting. Really worth a trip. read more

Did you know that Georgia is home to the second largest aviation museum in the USA? The largest is in OH. Thanks to my co-worker I learn about this place. I was telling him about going to Macon and he mentioned to check out Museum of Aviation. It's been on his bookmark for many years but was never able to check it out. Today, my husband and I decided to come. We are huge military fans and have military kids so we wanted to check it out. I personally thought it was just one floor and one building. Nope, that building has THREE floors of interesting facts. So much history! While we were on the top floor, we looked outside the glass window to see several aircrafts outside. We walked outside to check it out and just kept seeing more and more. I was so amazed. There were benches and places to sit and chill outside too. The only downfall to Museum of Aviation is there is food places. There are a few vending machines but you have to eat in the designated areas or outside. They do not stop you from bringing food or having food cater to eat there. This place still rocks though. I forgot to mention it's FREE admission but there are donation boxes. We visited the museum in October, 2024. What an extraordinary experience. It was so very interesting and covered so many aviation memories. I would highly recommend making this a destination on one of your day trips or holidays. Leave several hours as there is so much to see and unfortunately, we had limited time so therefore missed a good portion of what was available for us to see and learned. It's terrific for all ages. After twenty years in Georgia, I decided I had to see the Museum of Aviation before I left. Glad I did. Free to the public (!), the museum has a lot of iconic warplanes, such as the SR-71, U-2, F-111, F-1XX (the whole 100 series of fighters), P-40 (a Flying Tiger!), P-51, B-29 and many, many more. You will also find a lot of displays that provide great information on historical aspects of the air force, such as the Flying Tigers. Although most of the planes and displays are located in the several hangar buildings, there are also a number of planes sitting outside, including an A-10 Warthog and B-1 Lancer in front of the museum. In the back are some transport planes. If you like airplanes, or if you like military history or history in general, go. You won't be disappointed. Oh, and if you happen to turn off the highway at the wrong exit, the very polite and very well armed US Air Force airmen at Warner Robins AFB will be happy to escort you off the base and see you on your way. read more

Especially to children. We want the next generation to CARE about history. Let's be more welcoming. Any museum which sports a B-1B Lancer jet bomber on its front lawn is my kind of museum! And right across from the gracefully lethal B-1 is the ugly but very dangerous A-10 Thunderbolt II attack jet. The museum consists of a cluster of four structures, the largest being the Eagle Building, located behind the B-1B. It, of course, highlights an F-15A Eagle, the first of a line of world class fighters, the latest of which is the F-15E variant. This building also contains dioramas, photos, and the actual aircraft of the Korean Conflict and WW2. all sporting expertly applied correct period livery. The second floor is a treasure trove of memorabilia, photos, models, uniforms and more, including even a simulated movie theater. The Vietnam Hangar is very, very well done, with iconic aircraft from that era. The hulking F-105 Thunderchief seems to dominate all other aircraft, and samples of its typical ordnance surround the aircraft.. For me, the Century of Flight Hangar was simply spectacular. Imagine two Convair Deltas, the F-102A and the F-106A side-by-side, immaculately restored in Cold War livery. Well, between them was a gorgeous silver F-86H, facing the wall, obviously being moved by the curators. Just to the right was a F-111E Aardvark, the most advanced variant, in Vietnam camo colors. On the other side lurks the massive SR-71 and the plane it was supposed to replace, the U-2D Dragon Lady. Did not work out well for the SR, sadly. With them, a Global Hawk drone is suspended. An early USAF Thunderbirds #3 F-16A is next to the two spyplanes, in full airshow livery. The last hangar is the Scott Exhibit Hangar, featuring WW2 aircraft. The star of that show is a B-29B Superfortress towering over all the others. In front of the B-29 is an incredible lineup of aircraft engines used during WW2 and for many years after. The massive grounds outside are populated with famous and not so famous aircraft, some iconic, some laconic, but all are genuinely interesting. As an example, the USAF flew the Neptune, an aircraft designed primarily for the Navy and known as the P2V Neptune. The Air Force painted it black and called it the RB-69A. The Museum of Aviation compares favorably with the USAF Museum in Dayton OH, although not in scope, since it is much smaller. It certainly compares in the high quality of displays and explanatory signage. If Dayton OH, is not on your radar, just come here to Robins AFB, GA. You won't be disappointed. read more

An awesome museum - a must-see! This site is located on the southeast corner of the Robbins Parkway and Oak Avenue intersection. The entrance is south of the buildings. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot in front of the complex of buildings. There is no cost to the museum and there are volunteers inside each of the buildings. You can visit the buildings in any order but I would suggest going to the 3 stories one directly in front of the parking lot first. It has a beautiful foyer, gift shop, and an information desk where you can get suggestions on what you may want to focus on during your visit. The museum is actually a set of 5 buildings focused on different items. You could easily spend hours or days visiting each of these buildings. The main 3 story building focuses on the historical aspect and spans 3 stories. The building to the south houses the Vietnam era. The courtyard in the middle of the building was being used to launch rockets on the day I visited. The two buildings on the east of the courtyard house various displays and some works-in-progress. As an added bonus, there are planes on display outside the main buildings including a B-52, Presidential plane, and more. Overall, it is a very nice museum and a must-see for any aviation enthusiast or American history buff. I highly recommend this for any visitor in the area. read more

Was on business in GA and caught the signs advertising the museum, I didn't know about it before. Spent all day there and loved it. There is a fantastic collection of aircraft on display both outside and in a few hangars. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. I would go so far to say it rivals Dayton. Absolutely awesome collection, shame I couldn't get into there refurbishment area, plenty more aircraft being worked on. Definitely a great family day out, fun for the whole family. read more

Wonderful museum with so much history! I enjoyed trying to find information about my dad from WW11 and the gentleman was very helpful with the information I gave him. We take our grandson there when he visits and it has a few interactive things for him to do! He loves going there! Can't beat the free admission either. Took my two sons and my dad to this attraction in early February. I was impressed that it was free but also impressed by the displays and various exhibits. I have always been fascinated with WWII History and the split display they had of the inner workings of a bomber was fascinating. They also had information about the squadron that used to fly out of Robins Air Base that gave our local High School its name. My family and I only did the main building before my dad got tired. It was impressive. There were models of planes and a movie to view. You could see different uniforms of astronauts and other airmen and women. The last thing we did was ride the simulator. It was on the ground floor. It was reasonably priced and very realistic. Next time we will go back and see the other hangars we did not get to.
