Had an appointment yesterday. Arrived on time 11:29am. Staff was assisting a family preparing for a wedding (three visible staff on hand). We were absolutely prepared & willing to wait patiently until our turn. Unfortunately, we were never addressed, spoken to, or giving any kind of acknowledgment from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we walked out 19 minutes later. No one said: "good morning"..." do you have an appointment?"..." we will be with you in one moment."... or even gave us any hint of body language acknowledging we were even there. I found out I was going to the Auto Show Charity Preview and needed to rent a tux for the first tome in a number of years. I chose Gerard based on the positive Yelp reviews and was extremely happy with the choice. We were welcomed in for the fitting and taken through a quick tour of available options and choices. We had brought in my wife's dress and the staff worked with us to choose vest and tie choices that would match nicely. The fitting process was very thorough, going through a number of shirt options to fit me best. Picking up and returning the tuxedo went very smoothly, the price was very reasonable and everyone there was friendly and professional throughout the process. There is simple no comparison to this place and the national chain tux shops. I was in a wedding over a year ago and had a bad fitting/ slash service at one of those mall stores that shall go nameless. I knew i was getting married a year later (this summer 2014) and didn't want a to go though what i did before. I saw a great yelp review and thought I'd give it a try. Right away I was very impressed how nice and professional the sales staff was, they had fitted tuxedo's that i was having a hard time finding at those other places. I was happy as soon as I left the store so much so i wanted to give them a good yelp review as soon as I visited the store for the first time. I thought better and wait until after the wedding to see if I still had the same glowing feeling. Not only was everything perfect, but 3 our the 5 grooms men were from other states and areas. This was no problem at all, they all got fitted at local tux shops by their houses and faxed in their measurements. And when me and my guys came in for the final fitting there were really only minor adjustments that needed to be made, the seamstress was right there and made the changes right on the spot which seemed like only took her 5 minutes. Again flawless. All my guys told be how incredibly nice this place was and wished they had this place where they lived. Which made me extremely happy, my tux fee was even complementary since I'm the groom. Gerard Tuxedo did me right! Awesome Job! read more

Jenn and her team have done it again! I cannot stress enough how truly refreshing the experience of being fitted and renting formal is compared to most of her competition. This business is Jenn's heart and soul and it shows in every interaction. I recently had the pleasure of renting a tuxedo for a company black tie optional event. There were many colleagues who took my idea and chose to also rent tuxes, and you could tell. They didn't fit quite right or perhaps were worn just a bit too much in places...this wasn't the case with my tuxedo. All evening I continuously enjoyed compliment after compliment on how amazing my tux looked, and where did I buy it/they need to buy one soon so it fits better. The best part was enjoying the look of shock on their faces when I told them, this too was a rental. The next question of course was, where do I rent from. I can only hope that my conversations translate to new clients for Jenn and Gerard Tuxedo. Found this place when I needed a tuxedo for my wedding. I just googled "tuxedo rentals" and visited a few places that were nearby. This was the third place I had visited. Immediately, I learned that the staff was VERY friendly and helpful. I didn't get that type of service at other locations. I felt other tuxedo shops just want your money, and want you throw tuxedos on you. At Gerard, they seemed genuinely interested in getting me the tuxedo I wanted. One thing that stood out is they always remembered my name when I would walk in or call. It really made me feel like they cared about the customer. This was especially important to me since I live out of town, and I only had a limited time in MI to find a tuxedo place, and fit in the fittings. I had some very specific requests about my tuxedo (finding a very slim cut tuxedo), and they were able to accommodate them. They did most of the alterations and quick fixes in-house while you waited. So when my cuffs and pants needed some adjusting, it only took 5 minutes. I had the unfortunate timing of getting married during prom season. When I went in for my fitting, the place was very full. Despite this, they were able to help me almost immediately, and had alot of staff ready to meet the demand. Even though they were busy, I never felt like I was a piece on assembly line that they were trying to get out the door as fast as possible. Regarding the fitting, they were very flexible on time, and even let me do an earlier fitting since I was coming in from out of town. I think I had my tuxedo for almost a week, since they wanted to make sure it fit correctly and didn't go to the last minute. Their prices seemed pretty comparable with what I would expect from a tuxedo shop. Overall, we rented 7 tuxedos from them, and one toddler tuxedo. No one involved in my wedding had any complaints. I would love to say "I would go back here", but I don't think I'll be getting married again. Despite this, I have some friends getting married next year, and I recommended this place to them. read more

This place is OK. I received a lot of compliments on the black and white tux I rented last minute. The staff was very professional, sized me perfectly, and had my stuff ready in less than a day. I was impressed! My first rental went so well I rushed back for a second rental, my nieces first communion. Now this is where it gets tricky. Pay attention to their hours and the days that they are open. Some days they close at 6pm, some days they close at 8pm, on Saturdays they close at 5pm. I work midnights so I am not usually up during the day. If you do not get to the store Saturday before 5pm you are out of luck for your event on Sunday. When I made it to the store at 5:45pm all the lights were off and the store was closed. No one bothered to call end of day Saturday to say, "we have your tux for your event, and will not be open tomorrow for you to pick it up." I was offered two payment choices. Leave a $50 deposit or pay in full. I chose to pay in full. Sunday, the day of my event, I emailed the company email explaining my mistake hoping that emails went to the owners phone and that someone could open the store. No such luck. I ended up at Burlington coat factory piecing together something to wear to the event. Monday I receive a call from an employee of the store asking if I still need my tuxedo and that it is ready. I explained that it was a bit late at this point, she said okay and hung up the phone. I think It would of been reasonable to offer a refund of my rental minus the $50 deposit. No such offer was made. I paid for a tux that I never got to wear. read more

I ordered a new Tuxedo from a catalog, Jenn, the owner was well aware this was an ordered, new item, not used. When I came in to pick up the "New Tux", the jacket was new but she handed me a pair of rental pants. Obviously, worn and used. I pointed this out to her. At first she insisted they were new but as I showed her the worn rental numbers she then blamed the new girl. She scrambled to find another pair and these did not match the suit and were a different style as well. This was an obvious bait and switch as Jenn would be the one to order the new pants as well as hem them. They really tried to get me to take the used pants. Then when she really tried to order the pants they were out of stock. Very disappointing as I told her I was looking for someone close to buy my formal wear as I'm an entertainer. Then I found it online for half the price. I support local brick and mortars but to be able to get it for half price, I'm buying my others online. Buyer Beware!!! read more

After multiple multiple bad experiences at another big chain tuxedo places (like not carrying my husbands sleeve size, not ordering the tuxedo all together, or not getting back to us on multiple accounts), Gerard Tuxedo was a breath of fresh air. We were starting to get very frustrated finding a tuxedo place for our wedding and were so relieved with how helpful Gerard's was. They had everyone's in the party size, including whatever fit they wanted (classic or slim). For our out of town groomsmen they gave them a website to find the closest free place to get fitted and were able to call-in their measurements. They were very diligent about calling me to tell me who still hadn't ordered so I could make sure they did. They had a million colors to choose from for accent colors and I was able to find the right blue I was looking for. They were able to fix any issues with fit on pick up that day and as far as I know everyone was happy with their tuxedo. I highly recommend!! read more
