have had Germania now for 3 years having transfered our home insurance from USSA for better rates they replaced the roof on our home after we found a water stain on the ceiling in one of the bedrooms .the adjuster arrived on time 2 days after i called the office, cant get better service than that .and quickly decided the 17 year old roof needed replacing , got first check within 5 days with instructions to forward the total invoice when job completed then they would forward the remaining amount of cost to us . cant say enough about there customer service and willingness to work with the customer AAA Company. read more

I just wrote a complaint to the Texas Department of Insurance http://www.tdi.texas.gov. about this company. My vehicle was hit by a customer if theirs in a parking lot, and sustained damage to the drivers side bumper cover and fender. After I went to their "recommended" body shop (I'm a team player) and after I was told it would be a "drop off and they handle everything deal" - I have spent 2 weeks getting the "avoid and deny" treatment. My sympathy goes out to anyone with a significant claim, the one they won't pay for me is $2500. They did put me in an Enterprise loaner, but the funny thing is, Germania is so "penny-wise but pound foolish" they have already spent at least $500 more than needed on a rental car while ignoring me for 2 weeks. Side-note: it just so happens that recently returned home to Austin from New England and am currently looking for as local Home/Auto/Other bundle...Its safe to say Germainia is OUT! read more

I have home insurance with Germania. When I needed a balcony replaced due to weather damage, Melody Scranton, Germania Spicewood agent referred me to her daughter, Cassie Dewers and Roy Nobles, a couple of grifters. They billed the insurance agency over $28,000, to replace the balcony and Germania paid up. Much to my chagrin, I thought that since the agent recommended her, I would be in good hands, but that was not to be the case. After they said they were done, I found some balcony rails to be loose. When I tried to talk them about it, they got defensive. They never returned to reinforce it or tie up some loose ends. I learned later, from other contractors, that thy did shoddy work. Not sure of t he dynamics between daughter and mother, but would not be surprised to hear they are in it together and sharing the profits. I would think twice before taking my business to Spicewood Germania. When I reached out to my Germania claims advisor, she showed disinterest in the situation..which makes me question their business ethics, as a whole. Biggest fraud of a company. Pay my insurance full year. 3 months in, I get a new truck. Call agent says difference for the year is 190. Cool expect a bill for the difference minus the 3 months. Hell no they send me a bill for the new vehicle and do not give me credit for the 9 months left on the truck I traded in. Call the agent to get it straightened out, well they go on like that's normal business. I had to switch to Germania for property I own in a rural area I bundled it thinking I'd be better off. Ending up paying way more than just a single policy. Underwriters came back after I filed an accident claim and said I owed them 600 more on secondary structure after they had the policy for over 6 months. Blood suckers comes to mind. Be aware they are unethical and you will be screwed! read more

Please avoid Germania because they are unethical. We had a tree that lost limbs during a wind storm. The limbs scraped shingles off our roof down to the wooden ply board on a large area. We debated whether to turn this in because we were sure that Germania would go up on our insurance whether they paid the claim or not. Sure enough the adjustor looked at the roof and said that the damage had happened over a long period of time, which was a lie, and would not be covered. We had had the tree trimmed away from our roof twice. Anyway the adjustor stated that our insurance would not go up just for making a claim. What a lie...we just got our statement and our home insurance went up several hundred dollars. We have had no claims paid from Germania. read more

Germania insurance is not what it use to be,reminds me of Walmart,how bad has GERMANIA became. I and my wife have been an on time paying customer for nearly 20 years,and now we have filed bad faith complaint with THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT of INSURANCE and are awaiting the paper from an attorney to to proceed with a suit against GERMANIA on a homeowners claim. I no longer can recommend this company to anyone and do recommend that, should you have them as your insurance on homeowner,car,and accident you change companies at once,before you need GERMANIA. I had to give one star to write this review! Germania does not deserve one star! After being a policy holder with Germania for 30 years, I would not recommend them to insure a dog house! They have become a company that no longer has a conscious and takes advantage of the elderly! The agents are more concerned about making sure they get a bonus at the end of the year for low claims pay out and their adjusters absolutely will sell you down the river!! Guess they get a kickback if they can figure a way not to pay a claim. You better be reading your policy and the attachments which is where you will find how they are going to screw you over! If you have a leak of any sort for longer than 14 days or more whether known or unknown to you they will not pay!! If the adjuster that is sent out does not do his job to investigate where the leak is coming from and it goes longer than 14 or more days, they will hang you out to dry too!!! If an individual ran a company like this, it would considered fraud! You can email the adjuster additional information for a supplement and they never email you back stating it was received! Then when you call they say it was not received!And don't bother spending that extra money on replacement value insurance because all they do is low ball the estimated cost on goods replaced. Shame on you Germania, for taking advantage of the elderly!!!This company is the poster child for ABUSE OF THE ELDERLY!!! read more

UPDATE: So finally was able to get my car towed to a place for repair. Found out it's dangerous to drive as it was flooded by the Harvey floods. Germania Insurance told me that just the floor boards are wet. Wow! I see that my life is worth nothing to them. The car is DANGEROUS to drive. So upset and disgusted by this whole experience. Wish I'd seen these reviews before buying their insurance. Bad customer service and horrible experience. Was dealing with a auto claim with USAA at the same time and the difference in how I was treated was night and day. Auto repaired and claim closed in 2 weeks. 4 weeks after repair complete on home and I am still on hold with Germania. read more

Caveat Emptor. (Buyer Beware) Former client for over twenty years. Over the last ten years the insurer has involved into a third rate provider concerned more with the company's bottom line than meeting the needs of their customers and practicing fair trade. Their agent cringes and doesn't even care to look you in the face or get involved reviewing claim valuations with corporate when attempting to settle a claim through the corporate claims department. The corporate claims department of the company is more obsessed with perceived fraud innuendo by clients as opposed to relief for losses suffered. In my experience after suffering a theft and loss, the company's FMV (Fair Market Value) figure for settlement was ludicrous. Even more outrageous was the acknowledgement additional funds might be available in the future when the equipment was replaced. Since when were insurance companies enabled to dictate whether or not a loss incurred must be repurchased to receive a full FMV. A claim amount was paid, but never settled nor documented evidence signed acknowledging a settlement. Dropped/severed all insurance coverage with Germania like a bad habit. Truth be told, let those be warned. Find someone else !!! read more

I have had home insurance with germania for over 45 years. At the beginning when I had a valid claim, it was promptly paid. I am retired now from residential home building and a remodeling contractor so I understand home construction. Once a few years back, I had a valid claim. germania denied it because there was no "visable hole" or missing roof material for the rain to enter. I am 75 years of age and just came off the roof area about twenty minutes ago, because I could not see with my binoculars. The roof is metal and the ridge is a one piece type. Where the ridge and the roof panels join there is a seal missing in multiple areas. No visable hole? More like a ripoff because germania is aware they can deny payment. Using formulas from years ago ,I figure around 5 to 5.5 thousand in repairs were needed. I have done all the work myself in my spare time just because it is my profession and therefore easy for me. I will have my grandson replace the missing seals because I will be too damned old to crawl back on that slick roof and also will be too busy checking for an more honorable insurance company. germania is missing capitalization in this diatribe as an insult to their directors and employees. I incurred wind and hail damage to my roof here in Houston. The adjuster contacted me within 2 days to set up appointment. He came out, looked the roof over and issued the first check on the spot. My 78 year old mom recently had accident with her 2005 Honda Accord in which the front bumper required replacement. She has never filed a claim on her insurance after many years with Germania. Total amount of repairs were approximately 900-1000 dollars, of which my mom is responsible for 500. Car was put in shop, appraisal done, and we were contacted and told that aftermarket ( Chinese-Taiwan ) Bumper would be used. Insurance company contacted and told that she wanted factory OEM bumper installed. Difference in price was 70-80 dollars!!!!We were contacted by Carey Moore from Germania and was rudely told there was nothing he could do. Upon asking to speak to his supervisor, was told that his boss was an extremely busy person, but he would have him contact us. ( like we don't have better things to do???) When contacted by Todd Corbett from Germania, were immediately and rudely told that it was a " industry stance" on the import parts and he was not willing to talk about anything. Upon checking with several other insurance companies, it is basically a case by case basis . Have never been talked to on phone by any type of service company so rudely and abruptly. My 78 year old mom is paying the difference to have factory oem bumper put on( 70-80 Dollar) difference. Originally my mom wanted insurance thru Germania because it was a local Texas company and her agent. Hope Germania is happy that "took a stance" as quoted by Todd Corbett and saved 70-80 dollars on my 78 year old mom on (Taiwan-Chinese AFTERMARKET PARTS) as she will be going with another insurance company asap. read more
