I have only visited the Germania Society at Christmas time, as it's a family tradition to enjoy an evening at their annual Christmas festival, so this review is specific to that event. A must do, at least once (but you'll probably want to come back) Outdoor festival grounds + huge tents filled with: *authentic German fare- (try the PICKLE SOUP!) *tables & tables of decadent Bavarian desserts *arts & crafts vendors *German specialty craft vendors *Music (german and holiday themed) *kids entertainment *horse & carriage wagon rides (last time we all sang Christmas carols as group during our ride) *bon fires *Krampus visits (our families favorite) *Santa Photos & Visits *Beer (of course) *If it's nice weather (like not too cold)- it will be crowded- so be prepared *If it's really cold weather - it will also be really crowded because more people will be in the tents, so also be prepared. read more

This review is for their Lenten Fish Fry every Friday evening during Lent: The best Lent Fish fry in Cincy! Fish is lightly battered (very lightly!) and pan fried (almost sautéed). Lovely flavor and not over cooked. The fish dinners include corn bread (more like corn cake) and a little scoop of a pie like desert! The clam chowder was great, too! Hush puppies are good, Mac n cheese was lovely and a little sharp! We really enjoyed this and will be back every week and next year for sure! read more

We came to our first Oktoberfest here, and had a wonderful time! What a beautiful little gem of area. One member of our party kept repeating, "I love how green it is, here!" We hung out near the bier haus, in a little courtyard with food, beer, & a live polka musician (who was awesome! He covered everything from traditional German polkas, to Johnny Cash & Linkin Park). It was HOT- but tolerable in the shade with lots of cold German beer! The food was great- we tried the metts, brats, potato pancakes, sauerkraut balls (YUM!), pretzels. There were many other offerings inside the bierhaus, but I stuck with the strudels and cream puffs! The cream puff inside was so delicious & had a pudding filling! It was amazing. We went up top to the carnival area and walked around to see the offerings, but it was like most other festivals in Cincy (other than the German themed food). There were carnival type rides for the kids & gambling type games for the adults. We grabbed a cream puff for the road & left. Sadly- we realized when we got home that the cream puff we bought had a whipped cream filling, instead of the pudding. Had a wonderful time and will definitely go back! read more

This year we traveled to Germania Society for Chriskindlemarket. It was my first visit to Germania Society. I wasn't sure what to expect as it I've never found a Chriskindlemarket I enjoy as much as the one in Chicago. I was pleasantly surprised by how lovely this event was! Germania Society has a nicely-sized property which I'm sure would be great for summer events too. (I can't wait to go to their Oktoberfest next year!). The people working the event were friendly and helpful. Even though it was cool outside the tents were large and heated and connected! It wasn't too cold outside, but I imagine even it it had been I would have been nice and toasty. Also there were nice and CLEAN bathrooms (not just porta-potties). There was live music and a good amount of vendors for items to peruse / purchase. The Glugwein was sooooo good! It went down nice and warm and easy...maybe too easy. :) There were great traditional German biers on tap and then some fun ones I wasn't familiar with too. They had winter-inspired cocktails as well. (Let's just say, you could get your drink on.) The food was delicious and plentiful! And the desserts....oh my....the desserts. I'm not really sure how I left without buying a cream puff, but rumor has it that it is the most delicious thing you will taste and is excellent in bed for breakfast the next day! The Germania Society really know how to put on a great Christmas festival! So much great Christmas decorations, and vendors, and entertainment. It seriously jump started our Christmas spirit being there this weekend. The lines were a bit too long to eat there, but we did get a soft pretzel and an AMAZING spiked hot chocolate drink. There was a small animal petting area for the kids, Santa was there to take pictures..along with St Nicholas..and apparently Krampus was lingering around there somewhere tho we never saw him (thank God, I might've had a heart attack). Everyone there were in good spirits and the festival as a whole was just really really nice and fun. I definitely want to look into more events here in the future. Highly Recommend..unless you're some type of Scrooge or something..ha. read more

Went to the Christkindlmarkt at Germania Park Friday night at 5p when they opened. Very unorganized and food lines were ridiculous. We waited in line for 45 mins just to find you can't get what's on the menu in that line. The menu had a wild bore sandwich with coleslaw which sounded good, however they had no coleslaw and when we asked the lady at the register to reduce the cost due to a incomplete meal she said she can't do it. They had one trash can that was by the tables to eat and it was so full it was spilling out onto the ground. This isn't the first time they have done this event, they should have been a lot more organized. Won't be back next year. Good luck to these people the rest of the weekend, they are going to turn a lot of people against going next year. read more

We were invited to Christkindlmarkt, never been here nor knew about it. I have to say, it was a lot of fun, lost of great beer, food, crafts, and live music. It was all very authentic, from the cold beer to the homemade pastries. The festival was all inside tents so it would be heated, which I think it made it better, not only for the warmth, but also for the ambiance. To get a beer you first needed to get a bracelet and then tokens, do the food either everyone took cash, or cards, which was great. There were some ATMs but only from one type of bank. There were probably 50 vendors selling everything from Christmas ornaments to German beer steins. The food was amazing, and the pastries were very rich and delicious. There was also an area for people to take pictures with Santa Claus, and a petting zoo. Pets seemed to be welcomed and some vendors even had items for them. The only down side was that the ground was muddy, so make sure you wear boots or shoes you don't mind getting dirty. Other than that it was fun for the whole family! read more

This is more your classic, enjoyable, not so drunkfest, Oktoberfest. First off Germania Park, is gorgeous, and the Society, really does a good job on the upkeep, which is also what the funds from Oktoberfest go towards. This is a definitely family friendly place. Giant beer steins? check. Lots of German beer choices? check. authentic German food? check times like 15 different times. Games? Rides? Tug-of-war? Yes yes and seriously! They do have the typical gambling tents that Cincinnati is used to seeing at festival. The Big 6 wheel, blackjack, poker, etc. And this year they even had a rat in (on?) a wheel game which was interesting, cool, and cute all at the same time! And yes I just called a rat cute. If you cause trouble here, they will kick you out. Major Plus! There's a polka band going under a pavilion with a dance floor if you're so inclined. And a booth where you can buy your normal fare. Need a hat? a new feather for said hat? a stein? shot glass? apron? You name it they most likely have it there. It's all sorts of German regalia, that may or may not be themed for the weekend, but if you've been wanting there random German knick knack you can get it here. They have a few beer and even wine tents or booths set up. And plenty of non-alcoholic booths. The food numbers well above 20 different booths, and yes you can even get a giant pickle! If you're looking for the not so crowded, not nothing but drunken Oktoberfest, this is the perfect one to enjoy a beer or 2, some music, friends, and a great evening out! read more

We went to their Oktoberfest this past year with low expectations to be surprised by the authenticity, wonderful food and great atmosphere. They had legitimate German wares as well as beer and food. The band was engaging with the crowd and it was a really good time. Having been to the "real deal" and not wanting a drunkfest, this was the perfect family friendly venue. Recently came for Christkindlemart on its last day. The beer, mulled wine, German pastries, and brats were to die for. The beer was cold and crisp as always. The mulled wine was warm and clovey. The system they have going is a wrist band is free with an ID then you purchase beer tokens to be exchanged for alcohol at the bars. This definitely makes lines move quickly. I wish the food would have been on a similar system. I would have loved to give my experience 5 stars but unfortunately the ground was super muddy and our shoes were covered by the time we went home. I always have so much fun here. I have been coming for years. I do suggest you buy their souvenir mug since they will let you reuse it and get cheaper drinks. This past year we went to Oktoberfest with another couple that is not big on crowds. I thought for sure when the rain started pouring down we were all going to have to leave. But the party raged on and everyone there had a blast. The people working the booths were very good humored about it all. The crafts at the Maifest are very good. We usually get some preserves and other things for the kids. During Christmas we go to the Kriskindle Market and get the kids pictures taken with their St. Nick. All in all its excellent and I highly recommend for any occasion. read more

Swung by for the last day of Christkindlmarkt last weekend. It was so fun! I wish we'd gone to every day of the market so we could really do some shopping. The stalls all featured authentic toys, gifts, food, wine, and people. It was refreshing to hear so many German accents in what's thought to be such a homogenous, vanilla town. I love finding little pockets of culture like this throughout Cincinnati! Can't wait to go back and check out what else they have going on. read more

We held our German Fest themed wedding at Germania and it was amazing! The price is extremely reasonable for Cincinnati. Barry was so kind and helpful and allowed us to put up our own Oktoberfest and German decorations. There were 9 beers on tap and they allowed our guests use the half-liter mugs we gave as favors to drink their beer. The space was plenty accommodating for our 120ish guests and they can hold up to 150 comfortably. They include access to the outdoor beer garden which was perfect for all the guys to smoke cigars or for people to just get a breather! We wanted to provide an atmosphere of gemutlichkeit and fun as my husband and I met while stationed in Germany and the fests were our favorite part of the experience. We were able to attain that with the Germania setting, decorations, and atmosphere. The only downside was not having chair covers because they only had metal folding chairs and those didn't look very nice but we brought polyester chair covers which they kept afterward so the next people don't have to worry about that! read more
