It was a decent experience but I've noticed over the years it seems like the staff cares less about you. I just did a half spa day at Germantown Day spa and it's like no one really knew what to do with me while I was there. I asked massage therapist to apply firm pressure. I got soft at best. My facial was just someone rubbing my face. My lunch was lettuce with a slice of chicken on top on a fancy plate and my nails look like a five-year-old did them. I really want to love it here more because I've recommended it so much in the past. However now I recommend saving the your money and going elsewhere. I hardly ever leave reviews, but this is exceptional, and people need to know how they treat their customers. I like to get IV hydration once a week, so I've been going to germantown day spa while in Germantown doing some film work. The first sessions were fine, but I went in one day with a different nurse and it was anything but fine, because I was stuck 6 times while she tried to put the catheter in veins sitting on top of tendons and was sticking my tendons instead. Even after I told her it wouldn't work there, because other nurses have said so, she said "I've been a nurse for 15 years, and I'm going to try that one." Well she tried it, and she sure thought it was in when she started the saline drip, sending the fluids into my skin causing my arm to swell up. After saying "I don't know what wrong with me today," She stuck me 3 more times, before rebooking me with a half off session. Well that's where it really gets bad and HIPPA violations come in, because I get a call from the owner saying they're canceling my appointments and no longer honoring the rebooked session, because the nurses had told the staff they weren't comfortable treating me anymore after I said I was going to do hydration drips at home. First the nurse said she gives hydration drips to her husband at home all the time, and second, my neighbors are nurses and doctors so yes, I was considering it. And I know it wasn't "nurses," it was a nurse that goes around the spa and talks about her patients to non medical staff about her sessions in which a complaint has been filed to HHS. I told the owner this, and she starts this whole dramatic scene raising her voice saying "how dare you threaten me etc" when I've never made a threat in my life. So if she thinks that violating patients rights and them standing against it is a threat, then she's going to think a nuclear attack is being launched when OCR investigates. Here's my arm immediately after, this doesn't even show the bruising I had for days after. PS: if you need any kind of debate procedure, I would avoid this place at all costs, because the job will be botched. read more

I believe Germantown Day Spa has somewhat recently changed ownership. Either way, I was surprised by the reviews here as they don't match my experiences and, while I am not from here, (discerning) people I know who are born and raised in the area love this spa. Larry does fabulous pedicures and foot massages. I don't care for gel and my regular manicures last as long as gel ones I have had in other places. He makes me a latte and I feel cared for and relaxed! I was surprised to see people mention turnover as Larry told me he had been there for many years. My dad and I have a tradition of getting pedicures in nice places together. While he is in town for Christmas this is where I will be treating him. He plays golf in Europe a lot (walking-no carts) and is always ready to have his blisters soothed after 36 holes a day. I am looking for a new hair stylist and will probably try GDS for that as I have had such a good experience with Larry and the staff there. read more

I called and made an appt for myself for a massage. I was driving and couldn't write it down. I called an hour later to inquire about the time because I couldn't remember. I was told it was 245 pm. I arrive at my appointment at 245. The girl behind the counter couldn't find me at first on the screen. She never looked up at me, instead only looked at the computer screen. She told me I missed my appointment at 130. I told her I called and confirmed the time and I was told it was 245. She said sorry and there were no more appointments. First thing first, Germantown Day Spa is the absolute worse when it comes to being informative & welcoming. I've never in my life heard of or gotten a chemical peel. I suffer from acne & dark spots & wanted to try something that would help with that issue. I've done a bit of research on chemicals peels as far as side effects & the actual procedure! I book an appointment (as you see below) for VI PEEL precision booster... which Is what I wanted to target, ACNE & DARK SPOTS!!! Upon arrival, as soon as I walk in, I am asked my name & immediately taken to the back to begin service! No questions, no information given.... NOTHINGGGGG!!! Okay boom... the esthetician begins prepping her materials without going over anything, which led me to ask for myself what I was ACTUALLY getting today! She briefly went over a little of what I already knew ... which wasn't very helpful. She laid me down, rubbed a couple of wipes on me & that's it, I was done. It took about 10 minutes to do so & that's it! Now I'm up feeling excited about the procedure but also jokingly thinking I should offer to do these if they're charging $100. I get to the front to pay my balance & the cashier tells me that my total is $350!!!! Yes $350! The manager/owner @robin Tyler is basically saying I should already know that the VI PEEL BOOSTER is just an add on service to the VI PEEL! She also states that even though this is my first time I should know that booster means add on ... go figure! I'm definitely shocked & confused at this point referring back to emails exchanged between a manager named Britney and myself , & even the actually website! She says to me that we she isn't going to go around in circles about what it says ... I either pay the $350 or else! At this point I call my parents(I call them when I feel like I'm being wronged) , I am now on 3way with them both. I'm instructed by my parents, who study law, to not pay the additional $250 that I am being asked. The information on the website was misleading & upon arrival no pricing was broken down to me at all. I was basically rushed! Robin than states that I can pay the $100 now and pay the $250 another time! Not that I didn't have the $350 to pay, but I didn't have it to give to them being as though I came prepared to pay $100. At this point I was open to do payment plans. My parents yelled through the phone to me saying HELL NO!!! Lol The entire process was very misleading & manipulative! It states online one thing but I come to the counter to pay & it's another thing. Instead of the manager honoring what it says on her site, she argues me down until I finally decide to call the police. The entire time this lady tries to railroad me into paying for something that I clearly would never pay for if I knew it was $350! I'll just buy the products and apply myself since I'm already in the beauty industry. I patiently waited inside the facility until the police arrived ! The manager immediately tried to intervene before I could, so I stood up, greeted him, & let him know I was the one who called him. I explained to him basically everything I've explained in this review! He was extremely nice & empathic! I knew there was nothing he could do, because things like this have to be taken to civil court, but best to believe if I would have left, the manager Robin would have reported me, souped it to make me sound like the bad person and boom, I'd have a warrant for my arrest! The police made a "narrative" (not a report because nothing criminal occurred) for me for my records! I proceeded to pay what I initially booked, which was the VI peel precision booster at $100 & informed them not to charge my card any more or I'd press charges for stealing ! This spa is not what I expected. The dip nail service was horrible and prices are higher than average. I guess simply because it's in Germantown. I've paid $45 for a manicure and dip acrylic and received a whole lot better service. I didn't even get a manicure at this spa. I paid $60 for a bunch of horrible mess. I must say that the place is overrated and the dip service was definitely not worth the price. Having a nice facility is nothing if the service you provide is terrible. The service I received looked as if it came from someone who was just learning to do nails. When I pay my money I want good quality service that measures up to my standard. Everybody has busy lives and returning to a spa to correct what should have been done the first time is totally unprofessional. I'm glad my sister that lives in Oklahoma didn't go with me. I wonder how she would have returned to get her nails redone considering she lives 8 hours away. Totally ludicrous!!! All I can say is go to this spa at your own risk. I was able to call and get a last minute appointment for the same day. Which is rare for any spa like the Germantown Day spa. The facility is very clean and has perfect spa ambiance. I had an escape facial from Lindsey. Over all it was a pleasant , relaxing experience. It was fairly priced for the experience. She did a great job with the facial, shoulder/ neck massage and did an ok job with the extractions. My only complaint is that Lindsey was a bit pushy with microdermabrasion and some expensive products as well as making another appointment in the future. If I could give negative stars I would!!!! Here's the honest truth, my wife loved the facial, massage, and body wrap. What we didn't like is the "change in ownership) that took place 40 days before and stopped the care credit system. My wife wasn't told that until after the entire spa treatment and the new owner actually was the one that kept running the care credit card as if they still took it. She wasn't bold enough to just say they no longer took it and my wife had to pay $400 two days before Christmas. And when I talked to her (The owner) she told me her name, never said she was the owner or anything and just acted as if she was sympathetic to my issues when in actuality she could care less. I am not sure where to even begin on the review of Germantown Day Spa. First off, I followed my fabulous hairdresser, Jenni McCord to GDS. I was a bit leary as I have followed hairdressers before and it has not always been the best experience. I was COMPLETELY surprised at how wonderful Germantown Day Spa truly is. Jenni is a magician, hence why I was already her client, but the staff and owner of Germantown Day Spa were wonderful. Everyone is delightful and it is very apparent how much they love working there. Probably won't be back.. I went for a massage. Before the massage began I was asked about upgrades and add-ons too many times to count. She asked me about my allergies and when I told her she questioned how bad my reaction was and if I was sure that was what I was allergic to. Yeah, let's experiment and I'll be the test subject. Why even ask? Then I was asked what areas I needed a focus on, those areas were almost shorter than all the rest and then I was told I need to come back next week for 30 mins and the week after for an hour massage to work on missed areas. She said if she knew those areas were so bad she would have worked on them more. Yeah thanks, that's why I said that in the beginning. She also used basically icy hot on my back without asking if it was okay because she couldn't get it to loosen up "any other way." Um, aren't you a professional masseuse? Then she tried to get me to buy the icy hot and proceeded to prescribe me a regimen to again "get you healthy." I'm not sure why because I remember signing a form that said "you understand this is not a physician and we cannot diagnose or treat health issues etc." The room was far too cool to be undressed. Every time she put the oil on me I got goosebumps. Made it pretty hard to relax. Other than that, the massage was pretty good, besides the scratches because her nails were too long. read more

I want to begin this review with the positive. I've never had a bad experience with the therapists at GDS. They have always been professional, friendly and thorough. The reason I'm posting a bad review is that the past two times I've purchased services through GDS, there has been an issue with published prices vs. what I am charged at checkout. The first experience: I scheduled a birthday pedi for a friend, picked up the gift card and paid in advance for the service. Note that I scheduled the pedi myself, so the desk attendant put it on the scheduled and accepted payment for it. When my friend checked out, they told her she owed more money. They said the person who did her pedi is a SR therapist, so it cost more. Thankfully I was there, but it was embarrassing... not much of a gift when you get dunned at the door. Why didn't they charge me more when scheduled and paid for?? The second experience: Looking online (germantowndayspa.com), I found the Swedish Relaxation Massage series of 6 with a non-SR therapist for $60 each. I then called to schedule massages. I stopped by the spa to pay for the services and was charged $390.... $65 each. When I asked, was told the price has gone up. The web site and the Menu of Services on the front counter say $60. The lady at the counter says $65. I didn't purchase the series of massages. Conclusion: Even though the therapists at GDS are wonderful, I am not impressed with the management in regard to unpublished pricing changes. read more
