SO MUCH to see/do here that you'll need several visits (at least!!) to even scratch the surface. There's so much to see/do every season, it's tough to know where to start... Bike, fish, hike, picnic, take zillions of pictures, watch for deer and other "residents," and more!! Be sure to view the MASSIVE dam, it's impressive!! Don't miss seeing what there is to see at all of the separate entrances, definitely something for EVERYONE!! Next time, I'm bringing my bike!! Enjoy!!

Starting from an access trail next to the dam, we went counter clockwise , linking the yellow and orange trails. We probably did not get the full "experience" since we were there in the winter when the leaves were off the trees and the river level was low-ish. I am looking forward to coming back in other seasons. Two words of warning: Remember that the trails can be muddy due snowmelt, even if the snow has been gone for a few days. Saw several people out there today whose originally white sneakers are probably a few shades of darker brown now. Also, mud will be thicker and deeper down near the river where soil will have been pushed down the river during previous floods.

Grooming -- Influx of unpaid road and pave road out balance them selves. Elevation -- None. Scenery -- very picturesque type atmosphere, lots of nature, around us, such as trees, and vegetation. Family Orientated -- definitely family orientated, easy enough to bring your dog and/or small children. Populated -- usually not very populated due to the proximity of the area off the major highway. Although in the summertime and towards the spring, obviously it will get more and more crowded although it's not unbearable. 10/10

There's plenty of bike paths and trails. It has a few ways to get in. It has an entrance off Union Road which is good if you're on a bike. There's lots of bike trails here. If you go further on the road, you get to the main entrance. This has a good parking lot. It also is the most beautiful area. The best part is the lake, which is fun for pets. It's one of the best Metroparks. It has lots of bike paths connecting to the Ohio bike trail. You can also find other places to walk.

From 3 shelters you can rent, to a playground, an awesome lake with a pier and pavilion at the end of it (you can rent the pavilion I believe) to soccer, baseball, softball, sand volleyball and a BMX bike track they really fit a lot into a tight urban park. And parking for the most part isn't an issue. This is the park where Kettering has their 4th or July fireworks and it's packed (like 15,000) with people. They have lots of other fun festivals kids fishing derbies and it's home to Metro futbol club and their home fields and practices. The reason for not a 5 star is there is only one bathroom facility in the whole park. But other than that I love the trail around the park and all the sparks fields are in great shape. They really do a great job maintaining everything. Ooo, check this out if you love Pokémon Go! This place is the spot. The water is murky, like you would expect, and the sand is really rough and gritty, again like you would expect for a lake, but it's not slimy. The bathrooms are brand new. There is a ton of green space and plenty of room to spread out from other families. There are picnic shelters and grills. Huge parking lot! Even on the busiest summer holidays, I have never struggled to find parking. There is a really nice fenced in dog area, as well as as a dog section of the beach. If it was closer, we would probably be there a lot this summer as it's a great way to cool down.

The trail itself is pretty much an out-and-back route with a couple of side trails that go into the neighborhoods or just an alternate route. While the vast majority of the trail is "in the woods", the park is sandwiched between the golf course and the houses but (at least while I was there) the area was pretty quiet. Admittedly, it was a cool winter morning without much sunshine. In any case, the area seems to be a popular place for walking or hill running, either on the trails or the park road. This park, while not one of the largest or most secluded, is a great place for a quick escape. This part of the park also has a very nice pavilion, restrooms, and the watchtower to visit.

The trails are short and easy to navigate with paved boardwalk as well, this would be a great park for small kids or dog walking. The surrounding area is beautiful, but there is quite a bit of traffic on the road around the park that you need to be aware of. They have a gorgeous and large shelter that would be great for a family event and plenty of shade trees.

Trails are pretty well kept, though I managed to get a bit turned around a few times, probably more related to my (lacking) sense of direction. There's TONS to see here, like most of the area metro parks, and I missed a few of the main attractions, but did check out the pond and the small waterfall. I'll be back to see the tower and the Patterson Memorial next time!! Worth a visit, if you're in the area!!
