This memorial park is dedicated to the memory of a man who lost his battle against the demons he fought so hard to conquer, but it's not a "sad" place, IMO... It's beautiful, peaceful, and so IMPORTANT to the waaaaay too many here in this region who have lost their loved ones and search for peace. It's a relatively quick, "easy" hike through the GORGEOUS pines at the entrance, with memorial stops along the way from Daniel's family and many others. The chapel is the "heart" of this place, I believe, with hundreds of heartfelt, sincere tributes to lost loved ones. I added mine to my husband, whose untimely death three years ago changed my life. Peace has been hard to find since October 2, 2021, but this place, as true (for me....) most walks in nature, has truly helped... Thank you to all those responsible for providing and upkeeping this wonderful place!!

The cathedral in center of park is notable as there are tons of cards filled out by folks from all over! Again, this is a memorial or place of peace for those who have lost friends and family and just want to spend some time walking through the woods, fields and pathways and think about them...

I saw two people out on the trials the whole time. Bring a folding chair and you can find some great spots to sit and let your surrounds consume you. If you go to the welcome center there are restrooms and a place to fill up on water. The trail signs are positioned well and make it clear what trail is what. I recommend you take a picture of the park trial map, so you can reference it when necessary. There are some camp sites, and even some 'backcountry' camp sites that you have to hike too. Many different shelters to reserve with parking lots in other areas of the park (you don't have to hike to them). There is a sledding hill too. I only saw probably 10 or 15% of the park. But it is sure worth checking out. I believe it's 5 River metroparks biggest park. Enjoy exploring yelpers!!

There is a trail in the woods that leads to a small pond on the left and there is a bigger pond. It closes for the season during the winter and reopens in late March. The trail is a easy walk on mostly flat terrain but not handicapped friendly. There was some gravel which was nice for traction after some rain. It was a quiet place and peaceful walk in the woods.

The different areas of the pool is divided by water ropes and there are lifeguards assigned to each area to ensure the safety of patrons. There are plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas if you want to read or take a cat nap while there. There is a picnic area and also a small playground and sand volleyball if that tickles your fancy. The bathrooms were spotless and had showers and changing areas. Due to the event being private we had catered food but there is a concession stand to buy snacks and food while at the center if need be. This is a great place to bring the whole family for water fun!

I thought the price was good for non-residents. A little high, but I get it. I liked that they didn't care about you bringing food in and had plenty of grass, shaded spots to sit with my kids. We had a really great time and will come back again next summer!

I and my kids wished they would have built a bigger one that was more fun for all ages, not just little kids. The new stage area is so nice. It offers tiered sitting, which is wonderful for all the concerts and shows that get offered. The bike path is in nice space and connects beautifully to the paths inside the park. The updated bathrooms are nice too. I would appreciate them leaving them open longer throughout the year for those still using the park.

The Polo Club is something between a neighborhood pool and a country club. It's friendly and welcoming so no snooty attitudes allowed here. The club no longer has staff, it's member driven with volunteer and/or donation efforts throughout the year, in addition to club dues. The MVHPC has so much more to offer than just a pool membership....there are fun things like winter and summer platform tennis leagues, hiking trails, card nights, kids movie nights, pig roasts, derby day party, Christmas dance, karaoke....etc. In 2020, we added pop up parties with live local music on the terrace (BYOB) and it was a huge hit with members. We have been members since 2017 (wish we had joined sooner!)....I don't know what we did before we joined. We love it!

There is creek running through several area through the trail, but the time we were here in Autumn, it's mostly dry. We didn't finished the whole trail, will definitely come again to try the trail from the other side.
