It is because of PW that I realized doing endless amounts of cardio and marathon running wasn't doing my body good. I started doing more weight lifting and HIIT with Pure and my body was freaking changing in ways it never had before! I had suffered from years and years of eating disorders, and PW honestly helped me have a healthier body image and relationship with my body. A class there is like the best therapy, because you are surrounded by people who are your family. They come from all different walks of life, different levels of fitness, and so much love and support. The owners are so invested in everyone who attends, and are always so welcoming. Back in 2014-2015 I trained for an NPC competition. Had I never gone to PW and been surrounded by so much encouragement, I would have never had the guts to step on stage. Judah helped train me and I had NEVER been in such amazing shape before. Not only that, but he and his wife Kira drove all the way to Colorado to support me and cheer me on in my first competition. Who does that?? The dedication and genuine care they have for everyone is beyond what you will find at any gym! I sadly haven't been able to attend PW much since moving and having a baby, but many of my dear friends are people I met through Pure. I still stay in touch with the owners and I still tell them all the time how much I miss going there. I was able to do an online fitness program through Kira which was amazing to help me work on losing that stubborn baby weight and stay motivated as a new mom, wife, and working woman. The tools I've learned through the years from Kira and Judah are invaluable, and I will always recommend this gym to anyone and everyone I come in contact with!

The owners are always kind and show me proper form if they notice I'm not doing something correctly. It really is like family here! Every day I go workout, there are always fellow gym goers and the instructors greeting me, and happy to show me how to do the different types of workouts we cycle through. Every day is different! I myself started with a Groupon and never felt like I was treated badly. I'm here to stay! If anyone out there is interested in pushing themselves to the next level, I would highly recommend Pure Workout! Is it easy starting off? Hell no! The problem is a douche name Coach Cam who lures you in with a promise of this free 28 day fitness challenge. He asks you what your goals are, for me it was being able to do a pull-up. He writes that down and creates a contract. But I thought it was free? you ask. Oh of course it is but we need a deposit so that you have skin in the game. Wtf? Of course you'll get it all back he promises but we really hope youll want to stick around. Fast forward 28 days and I'm still not able to do a pull-up. But guess, what that was part of the contract?! You can't do a pull up so we're going to keep your deposit. Are you kidding?! I demanded the return of my deposit and told him as much as I might like to join this gym I'm already a member at another gym like I had told you before we started and I'm not in a position to consider another membership until that one expires. "Do you really think that's fair" says coach cam. "You got to work out here for free." Um Yeah, that was the deal, you smarmy *$$. He refused to give me my money back. Literally said no. Thankfully American Express has my back and they immediately opened an investigation and returned my money. Beware of these gyms and their predatory practices. When a gym claims your workout is free, it should be free. Period. Sign a liability waiver but don't sign a fraudulent contract meant to take advantage of someone excited to try a new gym facility.

I didn't have any negative experiences here, this style of workout space just wasn't particularly for me. When you're a member, you have access to the studio at any time. They have a variety of workout classes in private heated rooms throughout the studio, and you book your time and the workout that you want. Different rooms had different equipment - there was a room for yoga, a room for spin, etc. They want you to purchase one of their mats for the yoga because the sauna is too hot for regular mats. You can adjust the temperature of the room to your liking. I believe each workout was 15-20 minutes long in a heated sauna room. You definitely get your sweat on, that's for sure! The rooms are small, but I believe you can technically fit up to 3 people in each one. I would personally never want to share that small of a space with someone, though. They also have some gym equipment in the back of the gym for a regular, non heated workout. I prefer group workout classes because of the energy of the room. I know several people that swear by sauna workouts, though!

The studio offers a few varieties of classes with a spectrum of foci from more weights to more cardio. The Obsidian Strong Class was my favorite. It used a combination of barbell weights and the board to test your balance and fatigue your muscles. Great challenge. Not to mention, the staff at Obsidian is incredibly friendly as well as the patrons. Everyone is willing to help you set up and just seem happy all around to be part of a unique workout community.

I bought the Groupon to DASH and did 4 Body Combat classes to start off. Loved them. Great workout, really fun, and good instructors. Also liked the one experience I had with Body Vive. I tried one Obsidian II class and didn't love it. That was the only time I felt out of place, like I'd wandered into a class full of Lululemon dolls. I didn't get a lot of direction or friendly advice since I was obviously new to it. I never really felt like I was a part of their "community," although at least it looked like they had one. I also think that their front desk workers are a bit disorganized/not as well trained as I would have liked. I had girls act confused several times when I went in to have my class pass punched (like they couldn't figure it out), and then I had one girl accuse me of lying and said I already went to an Obsidian class (which was obviously a computer glitch) when I told her I was 100% sure I never did. I was really upset because she was so snotty to me, but luckily one of the owners intervened and said I could take the class anyway. Regardless of my satisfaction with the Body Combat classes, that last experience left a bad taste in my mouth about DASH. I won't be returning (although I had thought about purchasing a membership) and probably wouldn't recommend it to friends. I've been to other places with great instructors and classes that treat their customers really well - I don't need to be in a place that would accuse me of lying and not acknowledge a computer glitch.
