Sea kayaking, white water rafting, canoeing, hiking, glacier walking, 8 seater plane to view Mount Denali and more! The guide's mannerism with people was friendly, yet professional. He provided activities suitable for all levels of fitness, as well as meals that were fantastic and healthy. Lodging was above basic and clean. Get Up & Go Tours is the bomb! We just got back from the Family Adventure tour where we hiked every day, kayaked, trekked a glacier, and took a day cruise where we watched a calving glacier and saw more whale than I could count. We also saw puffins, orcas, bears, sea lions, and so much more. We stayed in quaint little cabins next to the water. At every turn, I was in awe of what I was seeing and doing. Best of all, Get Up & Go did ALL THE WORK! The entire trip was perfectly planned and executed. And our guide, Ray -- holy cow! He was so genuine and kind and knowledgable. He took the time to get to know us as individuals and treated us like family -- intuitively picking up on each of our unique needs and preferences. This was our second trip with Geoff and again it was amazing. 5 teen boys ranging mostly 17-18 were entertained and engaged. Ray was an excellent guide, and he jumped easily into our group. Best way to see Alaska! Geoff and his team provide a well planned trip with a good pace. Took the Aug 2021 Alaska Ranger trip with them. Our guide Ray was excellent. He took care of the group and accommodated all our asks. We were also very lucky to experience his tasty and gourmet meals. Geoff was quick to respond on all questions and the trip is as described in the brouchre. The team took precautions for COVID, which was very helpful. The campsites were awesome and at no point we felt rushed. We had plenty of time to enjoy Alaska's beautiful outdoors. We are a group of 11 friends who met at a camp in Iowa in the 60's/70's. Every year, we do a wilderness adventure trip together. This year we did the 6 Day Kenai Explorer (Camp and Cabin Based) trip with Get Up And Go Tours. Everything went smoothly with our trip starting with our first e-mail contact with Geoff. We were able to book and plan the entire trip through e-mail. Because we had enough people to fill the trip, Geoff was flexible in making a couple of changes for us. For a small upcharge, he made the 6-hour wildlife cruise a part of the trip and made the rafting trip optional since we knew that less than half our group would be interested in rafting. Geoff also agreed to pick us up at a different lodging location. We stayed at the Arctic Fox Inn in downtown Anchorage (highly recommend) which was a better fit for our group since it offered multiple outdoor areas for us to socialize and had multiple apartment options that provided indoor gathering spaces in case of bad weather. Our guides were Cheryl and Clayton. Both were excellent and they were a large part of the success of our trip. Right from the start, we were confident that we were in good hands. They took the time to get to know our group and to assess our various skill levels. As they got to know us, they were flexible in making changes to our itinerary. For instance, they made dinner one night in a park in Seward so that we would have access to showers in a local campground after dinner. Cheryl is an amazing cook and Clayton provided great instruction prior to each activity. They made a great team; they worked so well together we were surprised to learn that ours was the first trip that they guided together. The van seated 13 of us very comfortably along with our day packs. All other gear was stored in a rooftop rack system on the van. We spent the first 3 nights tent camping in Exit Glacier Campground near Seward. The campground is beautiful; it is not your typical RV/tent campground. The campground has 12 campsites with a maximum of two tents per site. Each campsite is located down its own wooded path for total privacy. The campground is booked on a first come first serve basis, so when we left Anchorage we drove directly to the campground in order to ensure that we would be able to stay there. The tents were 4 man tents. They were roomy enough for two people and two duffle bags. Due to bears in the area, no food or items with fragrances could be kept in the tents. These items had to be stored either in the van or in a storage room located at the campground pavilion (keep this in mind when you are packing). We spent the last 2 nights in cabins at Otter Cove Resort. The resort has four cabins (two duplex buildings) with two sets of bunk beds, a picnic table, and storage shelves in each cabin. Each duplex has a deck that looks out over the water. There is also a building that used to be a restaurant that has a large deck overlooking the water. We used this deck for meals and gathering during our free time. From the deck area, we were able to see hundreds of sea otters and a few whales. The resort has four showers - two in the women's room and two in the men's room. The resort charges $3.00 per shower; it's on the honor system, there is a container in each restroom where you leave your money. Our group really enjoyed all aspects of the resort. The majority of our group rented sleeping bags and sleeping pads from Get Up And Go Tours. The sleeping bags were clean and of good quality. The sleeping pads were Thermarests which were not as comfortable as sleeping pads that we have rented from other outfitters in the past. After the first night, we ended up going into Seward and buying some mattress foam to lay over the sleeping pads and that made a huge difference. The mix and timing of activities was excellent. Typically, a very physical day was followed by a less physical day. The 6-hour wildlife tour is not to be missed. Unfortunately, we weren't able to go on the rafting trip on the last day due to low water levels. The food was excellent and plentiful. We had some unique meals - Bison Sliders and Reindeer Sausage; meals that we might not have tried on our own, but everyone agreed were delicious. This is the sixth trip we have done as a group and it ranks as one of our best. In addition to the great scenery, the guides and the accommodations made this a very special trip for our group. read more

Just back from a FANTASTIC week on their FAMILY EXPLORER TOUR, we just wanted to express our praise and gratitude while the experience is fresh. From start to finish it was an excellent trip, beginning with the talents and approach of our guides, Dave and Terrance, continuing with the superb itinerary, owing also to our compatibility with the other family on the tour, and including all of the intangible, unpredictable, unplanned, and value-added aspects of the overall Get Up and Go! Alaska Family Explorer tour experience. A few items of note: -Guide Dave's cooking was extraordinary - tasty, plenty, timely -He and Guide Terrance handled each person/experience with utmost patience and professionalism -They added much with their vast knowledge of Alaska, flora, fauna, people, places, etc. -The itinerary was perfect - diverse, great mix of places and activities -Pace was just right - keeping good and busy doing fun stuff, with some downtime as well -OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES were wonderful mix and we enjoyed each of them so much - paddling, ice climbing, Seward Sea Life Center, Denali rafting, Denali bus tour... -No frills, and yet no corners cut - we were comfortable without cushy, just what we came for -So much more...hikes!-glaciers-campgrounds-LODGE!!!-laughs... We are still energized from all of the fun and excitement of the trip, and we are very satisfied customers, happily willing to recommend this trip HIGHLY. Geoff the owner added value by taking a phone call with us well in advance, and gave us the advice we took and flew in to Juneau before our tour and hiked there and then took the ferry up to Haines and had a wonderful time. Thanks Geoff! If you go, don't expect much from The Inlet Hotel and Suites in Anchorage if you stay there the night before your trip departs. Their customer service was nil. read more
