My brother was driving and needed to get gas while we were in the area. He actually went out of his way to come here. Odd, but I understand, I have done in the past. Upon arrival I was told this was an old Sheetz location, which is weird. I'll tell you why it is weird, because when Sheetz moves on from a location they will not sale to what would be considered a competitor, especially in their home town. But maybe this one slipped through the cracks. I guess you can say that this is your typical convenience store. Like 7-Eleven, but with a local twist. Gas prices were the norm for the area. Selection inside was a bit of a surprise.

Ebensburg was just a short drive for use growing up and almost always a stopping point on my journeys when I started to move further out. I suppose you can say that this Sunoco almost sits at the center of the town. A mere block or so from the County Courthouse and right next to the small corner park. The lot for this establishment is small, always has been, but it suffices. Side story: I remember once when I was younger and had just gotten my license I stopped here for gas and while pulling out hit the fence to the park...no damage, just made the fence shake a bit. I never go inside the store portion of this as I am usually only here for fuel and try to get on my way to where I need to be. Most recent travel through it was time to fuel up and I chose here. Pulled right in, scanned my card, pumped my fuel and was on my way. My Dad says that this location is usually the lowest for fuel in the Ebensburg area. There are other gas stations, but they are mostly near the highways, this one is right in town.

First and foremost, they still do offer gas here, what brand? I do not know, but the pumps are always busy. As for the inside, it needs some work. The floors seem like they could be a hazard. I am assuming that when they dropped the BP name, they tried to redo the inside quickly to make sure that they wouldn't miss out on the sales. However when they did this it left the inside lacking content. It felt bare inside, not much to choose from and left me wondering where everything was. But I guess what they lacked in prepackaged items they made up for in other areas. Coolers were well stocked with what they carried. It is a bit limited in there as well, but it didn't look bare. They also have a counter dedicated to just lottery sales. In this area you can take your time at picking your numbers and look over the many scratch off tickets they have for purchase. It is the largest selection of scratch offs that I have come across. There is also a place to buy hot and ready food. Place your order, wait for it to be prepared and packaged for you and you are set to go. Staff were pleasant and quick at what they do.

One thing people, the smell. My God! Dollar General will pop up anywhere it can to make that…read moredollar. This particular one is located right next to a cow pasture. When you step out of the car you get an assault to your face. Makes you want to run in the store as soon as you open your car door. The thing that is most appealing about this location is the hours of operation. This one is open until ten at night most days. Pretty good when you need a last minute item in this area and dread the fact that the only other place you could stop is Wal Mart. Given the late hours, this place is usually busy. The only other thing nearby is a bank, asides from the cows that is. Located right off the highway makes it an easy place to find.

They recently added more freezers and moved the cash register away from the front door, which was a…read morepositive move. Prior to that anytime someone walked in or out of the building you'd often be hit with a gust of wind, depending on the weather. This was particularly unpleasant in the colder months for both the customer and employees. The improvements aside, when I went to check out today I found the employee at the check out to be incredibly rude. She had the phone up to her ear and was on what seemed to be a personal phone call. Never once during this time did she greet me or say anything besides have a nice day after I had already paid. Usually employees have a friendly greeting and will tell you what your total is. I realize I could just look at the register display to see the total, but the point is that I didn't feel acknowledged at all. This isn't a reflection of every employee there, but is something that reflects poorly upon their value of the customer.

To tell you the truth, this was more of a pitstop on our drive to our location that we were headed…read moreto. My friends got a few things and like I said, I made a pitstop and this was one of the more spacious and cleaner restrooms that I have ever seen from a public location. Everything was set up nice and there was extra towels and soaps, and everything required for whatever we would need them for in the restroom. As per the store, it was a good all-around general outdoorsy store meaning like hunting and fishing gear, and also things like food products that you might want and a few small clothing lines that weren't for hunting or fishing so it had a little bit of everything in it, we weren't in the store for a very long and I didn't see everything that was in it but I'm sure it would be a nice location to hit four the general public that has a hunting or fishing liking.
