Also, I was in at my appointment time and out in under a half hour. Very minimal wait time at all. His office was clean and his staff was courteous, I'm only giving it four starts because they had a 9am slot open on zocdoc, which I booked, but got bumped to 9:30 saying they had double booked the slot. Not a huge deal, but a bit of nuisance. Be forewarned though, if you do cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you owe them $150, so just make sure you plan your appointment properly!

I had an in-person appointment where they suggested using an oral device for sleep apnea and did some scans to get me a device made. It took weeks to get this made and when it did, they made me come back in for a fitting appointment. The appointment was a waste of time because within minutes it was obvious the device did not fit and was too large and they said they would have a new one made. We went back and forth a 3-4 times re-making the devices and each time they tried getting a new one made, it took weeks to MONTHS for them to re-make and I had to keep asking them for updates, and each time they didn't fit. They'd make me come in for a fitting appointment and within minutes it was obvious they weren't made correctly. Once the company even sent me two pieces for the top part of my mouth instead of one for the top and the bottom. The doctor just blamed the company they ordered from rather than taking responsibility. The doctor also claimed to be friends with the owner of the device manufacturer (Airvata) and said they would be able to email them directly to expedite the process (this was the longest turnaround of them all). While the doctor told me I could do a virtual appointment, the support team said I had to go in person for my fitting appointments and kept discouraging me from making a virtual appointment and only after emailing the doctor directly was I able to do this, as to not waste time going in and within minutes realizing it was made incorrectly and having to come back weeks later. Before my last appliance came that had two of the same pieces, I complained so they gave me a temporary mouth piece from another company and then, within weeks, before the "permanent" one was created, the support team kept harassing me over email to send the temporary one back. The temporary one fit a little better so after the third or fourth failed attempt, the doctor said I should just keep using the temporary one and gave up on creating the permanent ones from other companies. Within weeks this one also got looser and kept falling out in the middle of the night. At the end of the day, I gave up and went to an actual pulmonologist sleep specialist at a reputable hospital network and got prescribed a CPAP and it has been much more effective and was a much better and faster experience than BlueSleep. Also worth noting a lot of the claims on their website about the oral device's efficacy are from their own research rather than from peer-reviewed research so it's worth doing your own assessment of any products they try to sell you. I'm sure there are many people who have benefitted from the oral appliances but there are also many common drawbacks.

However, after waking up mornings groggy with terrible headaches and nodding off constantly during the day, it became obvious something was wrong My first experience at SMA was very comforting. The doctor and an assistant met with me, explained the condition, what was going to be done to test for it and potential treatment options. Then I set up time to perform a "sleep study". Back then, you did this by staying in a room at the sleep center. Technicians hooked you up to equipment, talked you through the process and then you slept in what amounts to a mini-hotel room for the night. It is very disconcerting to sleep with a mask on your face at first with tons of equipment attached to you, but the technicians were super friendly and patient with me as I struggled through it. Nowadays, you are more likely to get a home kit due to insurance companies changing the way they cover sleep studies. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. The kit is easy to hook up and a technician patiently takes you through the process in the office before you take it home. There was also something comforting about doing the sleep study in my own bed rather than a medical office. The end result of all this is that I am using a CPAP machine to deal with my sleep apnea and it has helped tremendously. There is a dramatic difference in how my days go in terms of wakefulness and alertness. If you are battling sleep apnea, I highly recommend a visit to SMA.

They might not even like my attitude I've used their phone service and said hey I've called you two days in a row and you haven't called me back and now it's the weekend and there's gonna be a snowstorm .so I'm not gonna get a from you for a week and then after a week you're gonna tell me to wait another four or five months. This place isn't worth it. Nobody should let anybody jerk them around. I'm gonna find someone else if I don't hear from them immediately, I'm not going there. Neither should you.

Re fax to main and newly given "Alternate" Fax because the main one is "busy" they never get the faxes. If you call late in the day, they will put you on hold and leave the building. Last night for fun, I left my phone on and after being on hold for an hour, I hung up. Their business must be booming from something, or the staff just doesn't care because they have to motivation to do anything for patients.

I appreciated my doctor for being thorough with the follow up and flexible enough to do virtual appointments if necessary. I also enjoyed the fittings, accessories breakdown, and explanation over all the products offered. Above all, I appreciated how friendly the techs were during the entire process. The front desk is a bit of a different story. To suggest they could use a dose of professionalism is no exaggeration. They were cold with the salutations, rushed for no reason, and quick to remind me of their return policies. I also noticed they were rude to folks on the phone and a too abrasive for my tastes. The technician met us and brought us into a room where the sleep study would take place, he met us walked me through what would happen and what he would be placing on my child. With every wire being placed on my child he explained what it was for. The quality of the care I thought was very good but I didn't realize that the sleep study would end at 6am. My child only got about 4 ok hours of sleep. There are a lot of forms that needed to be filled out so I suggest anyone to go there at least half an hour earlier to fill out the forms. Overall the center was VERY clean and the technicians were VERY kind.

She repeatedly gave advice of no matter what, even if she is banging on the door hysterically crying, do not open the door to soothe her. Ten years later, my daughter is terrified of being in a dark room and having the door closed. She suffers from anxiety all stemming from her early experiences of being alone in that room. I truly credit Janet's bad advice with likely a lifetime of anxiety.

I saw Dr. Shin for nasal obstruction, chronic rhinitis, and nasal septal deviation. I was having…read moreissues breathing, especially before bed, out of my nose and my nose ran all the time during the day. I couldn't exercise or eat without my nose running. I felt forced to breath out of my mouth even when walking down the street. I am thin and in good health- this was not my fault and nasal sprays or antihistamines were not working. I even gave up dairy for years and nothing changed. No other doctor ever gave me real options besides dinky nasal sprays. Dr. Shin suggested Neuromark, a medical treatment for chronic rhinitis, and he did some other non-invasive procedure but I can't remember the name. Anyway, after a month, I'm perfect. Getting the minor procedures done made my nose annoying for a few weeks but basically a normal person now at six weeks out. It's made a huge difference in my quality of life. He's smart- he didn't just put a bandaid on my problem after years of suffering, he fixed it.

We had seen him a few times before because my daughter had clicking in her jaw, and those experiences had generally been positive (although with no real improvement in her symptoms). This week we returned to his office for what we thought was going to be a quick check-up. After waiting for 30 minutes after our appointment was scheduled to start, I asked one of the support staff if there were any updates on when we would be seen. Ten to fifteen minutes later - and 45 minutes after our scheduled start time - Dr. Bakhtiari came into the exam room and, from my and my daughter's perspectives, was agitated and combative. He told us that he would proceed with the visit and even pay for my daughter's missed piano lesson, but that we were not welcome back in his office and he would "discharge" us. Needless to say, my daughter and I were very surprised and confused by his reaction. I have never been spoken to like that by any healthcare professional. In fact, my daughter was so uncomfortable and disturbed by this interaction that she decided to forgo the exam and just leave the office. As noted earlier, we had previously had positive experiences with the him and the office, and that's why were so shocked by this experience. However, in reading one of the other Google reviews and several Yelp reviews, it seems as if our most recent visit is consistent with the experiences of many other patients, who also described him as "combative", "condescending", and "having a tantrum". It was an unfortunate experience for us.

I had contacted Dr. Bahktiari to resolve a concern that could have easily been handled with calm and professional communication. Instead, he verbally assaulted me, yelled over me, and made personal attacks. I was barely able to speak. He even threatened to "expose" me, which felt like a form of blackmail and intimidation. I have never been spoke to like that in my entire life. I am genuinely scared of this man.
