Erin is very nice and made me feel very comfortable and relaxed before starting the massage. As someone new to the area, I was glad that during the massage she told me a little about Ann Arbor and surrounding towns. As most know on here I have had really horrible experiences with Groupon but I have to tell you this was the best Groupon find I have ever had, it's almost enough to make me buy another Groupon. I would if it were to here. First off, Robert is such a lovely spirit. He is just super sweet and has a way about him that makes you uber comfortable despite the fact he looks like a Lions linebacker. I got there way too early and he took it in stride, giving me the necessary form and asking if I wanted to start ahead of time. Oh heck yeah. I sent my husband off with a backwards wave. Folks I'm almost hesitant to tell you about Robert in depth. I have a history of sharing on Yelp and losing quality massage therapists. I'm being realllly nice here, I will probably regret it. Robert is awesome. Amazing. I feel incredible. Never has my husband ever commented on how relaxed my muscles are after a massage. I honestly don't think anyone has ever made them this relaxed. Seriously. His massage was a total eye opener and kind of blew my mind. Robert has a real issue with knots. Apparently I'm full of them, even ones I did not know I had. The man was on a mission to eradicate them. At first I was like whoa. I wasn't sold. This was a massage like I have never had. He was thorough. He was convincing. Best part? When I started to feel the results I was one happy camper. This is no fingertip half assed *spa* massage. This was complete body therapy. My limbs were stretched and turned. My back and neck were explored and then manipulated into giving up the extreme tension they carry. I think so often in massage if you are overweight they just give up on you a bit. Robert found all the trouble spots, contorting me to make sure he got the right access to eradicate the baddies. My short, fat neck? Not an issue. I was shocked to understand what exactly can be done to that area. Small changes of position and he took care of my most problematic sufferings. Most therapists either don't know or don't care how best to get the job done apparently. I've had hot stone massage before, here you get hot stones added in as a tool to make the release easier but it is part of a more comprehensive purpose. Robert uses all the tools in his arsenal to get the job done. I love that! Yes you will be sore after the treatment, drink as much water as possible. I can be a wuss about that, I confess. Bottom line though? You will realize how much real pain you were in before the massage and how quickly it returned to you after some of your other *massages*. This is sweet pain, healing pain, necessary. Worth it. This is what it takes to have real results that last. This is what happens when someone actually tries to heal you, not throw a bandaid on your problems but who truly works to fix the real issue. After my massage I got a choice of cold or room temp water and helpful advice. Robert showed me stretches, gave me good ideas about how to prevent some of the worst knots and even gave me a chance to give feedback to him as well. So professional but really I just felt truly cared about. He really listened to my words and my body and wanted nothing more than to help me heal, not just relax or indulge but to be healthier. Not in a judgy you need to lose weight/work out/stop being a type A control freak but in a genuine hey you can help yourself out just the way you are now way. I could have hugged the man. I am broke as heck at the moment and I am still planning my next visit, it is worth the money. Really it's a great bargain when you compare. I have to go. It was sweet blessed relief born from true knowledge of human anatomy and I also got warm fuzzies from someone who made me feel so comfortable and nutured as he healed me. Not a bad deal at all.

She paid special attention to my problem areas, was not afraid to use heavier pressure when needed and included extra stretches that had a direct effect on my range of motion. I was originally scheduled for one hour but midway through I asked to extend it another 30 minutes as it was going so well. They use a sheet over your body instead of massage oils which I wasn't too sure about. I ended up loving it! The pressure was perfect and I like stronger pressure. I left feeling renewed and more flexiible than when I came in. The reflexology on my feet was great. I took advantage of the 60 minute combo: 40 minutes massage and 20 minutes reflexology. My only complaint was that while lying on my back during reflexology, I really could have used a pillow to prop my back up. It's hard if you're not used to lying flat and the older I get the trickier that is for long periods of time.

If you have chronic pain & stiffness or are still recovering from a long-ago serious injury, you'll be in good hands. I tagged along because I was interested for myself. I'm glad I decided to give this a try. Over the years, my body has tightened, despite constant effort to stay supple. Kathryn is very experienced at loosening the fascia layers between the muscles. It's a wake up call for all those slacker muscles that need to start working for a living again. Deep tissue massage might be a bit too intense for some. If you need her to lighten up a bit, just tell Kathryn. You'll still get the same benefits. I had developed "crossed body syndrome" where my tight muscles were pulling my skeleton out of alignment and discouraging me from moving. After each session (half hour and full hours available) I stand a little taller, and get a nice boost with my own efforts at home between sessions, such as physical therapy exercises, Pilates and Hanna Somatics. If you need just one or two sessions, that's fine. And if you need something more regular, that can be arranged. Kathryn leaves it up to each person to decide what's best, based on their goals. Once you walk out of there feeling fabulous, you'll want to go back! The office has rooms for several practitioners of various body therapies, including acupuncture. Check the website for full details. I think it's a good idea to call the office prior to booking your first appointment to get to know Kathryn or whichever practitioner and to ask any questions you might have. After that, you can book appointments through the website. I find the reminders sent by text to my phone to be very helpful. UPDATE: If you want to avoid stairs or opening a heavy door, there is a wheelchair ramp to get you to the second floor, where TheraCare is located. The ramp is hidden by the facade of the building. Look carefully and you'll find it. The door at the wheelchair ramp now has an automatic opener button in case pulling open that heavy door bothers your body. Once you're on the second floor, go to the left side of the atrium. TheraCare is almost all the way to the opposite wall of the building.
