You get what you pay for here - that's for sure! It is located at Adelaide and Jarvis - right next to Bo Concept store. Since it's a very short walk from my condo by St. Lawrence Market, i've popped in to shop for some pieces here (so I didn't have to carry them far). Once I got inside, I immediately wanted my place to look like this store! Decor is amazing! Staff is friendly and very helpful also - they always make you feel welcome. Will definitely be back!

The reason I gave this review 3 stars is because of the assembly of the bed. They had two men deliver the bed and assemble it together. It was not done right, drilled extra unnecessary holes in our wall to hold the headboard. Although these extra holes weren't visible after the headboard gets mounted but this shouldn't have happened if they were professionals. The headboard should have been mounted flushed to the wall form top to bottom but the way they did it was only flushed at the top and the bottom part of the headboard slanted and touches the wall. However the mistake was forgivable as these two men worked really hard to put it together. They initially came in our house and said it would be a very easy job that would take maybe 1.5 hour but ended up taking them over 3 hours. The other reason I didn't give it 4 stars was because we had requested chrome legs for the bed but instead the wrong type of legs came with it. Though it's a minor issue but it did cause inconvenience as one of us had to take work off to physically be home when they had to come back to the house to reinstall.

For $150 their store-hired interior decorators will come to your place to take measurements, and then give you their ideas and suggestions on how to furnish your digs (with BoConcept products of course). The $150 also goes towards your purchase. I found their selection of fabrics and colours to be limiting. Their prices are pretty ritzy so those who are price-conscious should head to Ikea instead. With that said, they do have a some pretty cool furniture, like sectionals that lock together magnetically to prevent the slip and slide effect (which is most likely to occur when you're at your drunkest). Their interior decorators are relatively young, and in my opinion relatively inexperienced. Of course, you have to take that with a grain of salt as their ideas are only as good as the line of products carried by the store.

I have shopped at the Avenue Road store (mostly) and the staff are great. I normally work with one sales associate, but when she is on her day off, everyone else treats me like I am royalty. I personally feel the product is of high quality and we have had multiple shipments to my house because we have ordered with them over the years and the items we ordered do not fit in a standard SUV, and Structube's third party shipping company is reliable and punctual with their deliveries. On a separate note: I did have one item that needed a spare part because of damage that I made, and although (I believe) they do not provide this service they tried their hardest to help me. I'm going again today, to pick up 2-more chairs. Could not be happier. Thanks guys!

I asked to speak with a manager I was told the manager is on break. I walked away. Another 5 minutes passed same girl and the assistant manager proceeded to clean the poop. As they walked by I said "it's about time somebody attended to it." The assistant manager rudely responded, we didn't know and was very confrontational. I said I reported twice, how do you not know. I asked to speak to a manager above her, I was then told that there is no manager on duty. I left and called the store (905) 850-8131, the assistant manager answered. I asked to speak to a manager, she told me that no manager tonight and for the rest of the weekend. After a few words back and forth she hung up on me, accused me of being rude to her and her staff. I called back again, she was rude and she hung up again. Not very good customer service at all after trying to help them prevent customers from stepping on dog poop. I'll be reporting this to Corporate office.

I visited their showroom at the end of 2023 requesting for a writing desk with specific dimensions. As a result, the associate or owner I conversed with insisted he would follow up regularly. All communication ties were cut after my initial visit and made a conscientious effort to stay in touch with them. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ORGANIZATION TO THE COMMON CUSTOMER. CLEARLY, THEY DESIRE SPECIFIC CUSTOMERS SUCH AS INTERIOR DESIGNERS AND THEIR CLIENTELE. AS A MARKETING INSIDER WHO HAS TRAINED AND OFFERED SOUND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR MANY COMPANIES, "PLACE PEOPLE OVER PROFITS FIRST!!!" Although this store has great furniture, it has the most horrible service. I purchased two sofa's from them years ago only to have them delivered with tears. When I called to advise the store, they merely wanted to send someone to repair the cloth instead of replacing both couches of which I paid over $2500 ten years ago. I huffed and puffed and six weeks later I received new couches. I thought to try again given I was in need of a new couch and a chest drawer for my bedroom. I was advised NEVER to purchase anything from them that was not on the floor and required ordering from an old sales associate given the ongoing problems customers had. If you're not wealthy, influential or have a high standing position -your items never arrive-. I ordered a couch that had to be made before I was aware of this. Marcella, a sales associate, very friendly and accommodating in selling but not fully aware assured me my couch and new chest would be ready in three months. She advised me the chest -which was a floor model- would be "cleaned" up and ready for delivery on Feb 1st, 2012 with the couch worth $2000. As such, I purchased paint to match both large pieces. 2 weeks prior to delivery, I contacted Marcelle to remind her of the delivery date. A few hours later she called to inform me the company (NY GARD) ran out of the material and the couch was never even made the last 3-4 months I was waiting. I was furious and made my way to the store to explain to the owner's son (who has absolutely no social skills or customer service awareness) that my entire condo was painted in the colours I ordered. Additionally, I have no couch or drawers in my new home and would have to search for furniture again which would take another 2-3 months of waiting if ordered. His response was merely, pick another fabric from NY GARD -that was it-. After an hour of looking through, there was nothing remotely similar to the initial fabric purchased. He basically said, take your money back and get out of the store. The chest I ordered was still displayed as the floor model -almost 4 months later- and GH did nothing to "clean it up" as Marcella indicated. The Johnson's made no effort to minimize the cost of the chest to accommodate me, with the exception of free delivery. I was livid. To top that off, the chest was delivered with major scratches and GH had to send employees to "paint" the scratches after it arrived. Having explained the inconvenience to Johnson Jr, financially (purchasing paint and having my place painted to match my new furniture) and now having to wait weeks to search and purchase another one, the OWNER, MANAGER, or MARCELLA did not make an ounce of effort to satisfy the customer. What is outrageous, had I not called to "check in" with my delivery, I would have never received my couch. Marcella assured me numerous times I would get my couch on Feb. 1st. She did not follow up with the order nor did the ordering department. Horrible, horrible service and unacceptable resolution or response from JH. As such, I lived without a couch for two months in my new home because of their inconsistency, unreliability and irresponsibility. One associate even made a comment with the company having many legal issues and problems. Despite the beauty of their furniture, I insist that no one purchase anything from them unless you have a deep pocket and lots of time on your hands. I would never recommend this store to anyone with common sense. STAY AWAY. read more

My husband and I recently purchased a table and bench from GH Johnson and were told that it would be delivered on Thursday, September,3, 2015 between 4 and 6. We received a call shortly before 4 informing us that only one delivery truck was operational and that our table would not be delivered until Friday (at no point did anyone think that it would be a good idea to inform us of this at the beginning of the day). We were assured by Matt that the table would arrive no earlier than 6 on Friday because my husband and I both work during the day. When we followed up on Friday morning to confirm that the table would be delivered, the individual who answered the phone had no idea about the delivery schedule. My husband asked to speak with Matt and was first told that he hadn't arrived for work and later that he was in a meeting. My husband called a third time and Matt still could not confirm whether the table was going to be delivered (apparently, these guys like to make promises they can easily forget). After 5 minutes of waiting on the phone, Matt confirmed that the delivery would arrive between 4-6. Shortly before 6, we called your store to check on the status of the delivery and were told that the truck was now stuck in traffic and wouldn't arrive until 8:30 (once again, we had to change our plans to accommodate GHJ's inability to properly schedule deliveries). The truck FINALLY arrived at 9:30 and we were told for the first time that the bench was on back-order. Having called three times throughout the day and then a fourth time to check on the delivery status, not one person had informed us of this. We were appalled at the lack of professionalism and honesty displayed primarily by Matt. What use is a table without the bench? My husband complained over the phone and was apologized to, but also told how hard everyone at the store works and how busy they are. Aren't we all hard-working, busy people? Overall, this was the absolute WORST experience I have ever had! My husband and I have been in client-facing roles over the last 10 years and if either of us ever treated a client the way we were treated at GH Johnson, I can assure you that we would have been fired. All these guys care about is making a sale and it clearly shows by their lack of professionalism. Proclaiming that they work hard is the biggest understatement of the century. Toronto has a lot of great furniture stores and believe it or not, quite a few of them use the same supplier as GH Johnson. I strongly recommend that if you are in the market to buy furniture, you should NEVER buy from this store. It is worth it to pay more elsewhere. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER: I purchased 2 night tables in January of this year and was told that the stands would be ready for pick-up at the end of the week. I came back to the store on the day of pick up and no one could find my order, or the nightstands. I had to speak with a couple different people, none of who were apologetic or willing to help me resolve the issue. I spoke again with the original seller who said the tables were "damaged" so they had to order new ones - fine, no problem there. I was then told they would be delivered so I wouldn't have to keep making trips down to the store - beauty. However, the nightstands were never delivered!! I called 1 week after the expected delivery date, and again no one was willing to help and I kept getting passed around to different people. I left a detailed message and my phone number, but NEVER received a phone call regarding the issue and the failed delivery. Obviously getting someone on the phone that could help was IMPOSSIBLE, so I went to VISA to dispute the charges. Basically the outcome of that was Johnson's fed VISA complete BS and my credit card was charged AGAIN on May 2, 2011! FOUR MONTHS AFTER I WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE THEM!! Like what kind of company IS this?! Clearly this is not how a customer should be treated! The people working within this "organization" are rude and incompetent and I felt like I was being taken advantage of. I even emailed the President of the company, Patrick Johnson, who was completely aware of the situation - and he agreed that I should pay the $150. Seriously?! I finally just accepted because I wanted to end this for good and be done with this company. I would've wanted to keep doing business there, but there is NO WAY I will ever step foot in that store again. And trust me, few will in the near future. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING HERE! NIGHTMARE PLACE! We just had a terrible experience here, I wish we had check all the HORRIBLE reviews that there are online about this disgraceful place before even go there. We bought 3 months ago a dining room table (2000$) that was a unique floor model and we specifically bought this one due to the stripes and the colors of the table top. The seeling person said was going to put away the table for us and while we where there she did put a note on it that is was sold, but unfortunately for us she obviously removed the note and SOLD the piece TO SOMEBODY ELSE, even though we had paid for it already. We paid the full amount in cash and a 75$ delivery fee, which really they should have paid has for all the problems that this delivery causes us we the 2 totally incompetent guys who DELIVERED THE TABLE WE DIDN'T BUY, but why? We called the office and the OWNER told us that he was going to make another table top if we didn't like the one we bought. So he admit that they sold our unique piece to somebody else not even apologizing. Thank God we had took pictures right at the store so we sent them the two different table tops. The table bottom was the same, but obviously not the same one we saw at the store since he had a different leg... Anyway I'm still so upset with them that I can't even write anymore, the thing that we are gonna do now is go get our money back and go buy somewhere else another table, after we bough the other furniture in according to that one, so we are going to speak to our lawyer about that for ALL THE INCONVINIENCES that this caused us. I have purchased many pieces of furniture from GH over the years and have nothing but positive things to say about my experiences. Most recently, we ordered gorgeous kitchen counter stools last Summer that took about 6-8 weeks to deliver, When they saw how disappointed I was that it would take so long (I was eager to decorate my new home - and have a place to sit for dinner!), they offered me loner stools at no extra cost. They also arranged for drop off and pick up! I didn't even have to ask..... A couple months back we ordered a new fabulous sectional that is due to arrive next week. When I asked if arrangements can be made to drop off my old sofa to my brother who lives about 15 minutes away, they didn't even hesitate to answer. It was an absolute "yes", we can help with that. When I asked, how much, they asked me to name the price ($50) and said that they would make a note in my file for the delivery team. It was a simple as that! Incredible, right? I don`t understand why there is such a mixed review for this place. I have always been very pleased with both the quality of furniture and overall service. For those of you who are considering shopping here - I say you give it a shot! I am writing to express my satisfaction with a recent interaction with GH Johnson's Furniture. Four years ago, we purchased two sofas from Johnson's. We visited Brentwood Furniture Manufacturing to select the sofas, and Johnson's offered us a competitive price. However, after four years, the sofas have become significantly uncomfortable. Despite the initial satisfaction, the cushions have lost their support, rendering the sofas almost unusable. I had anticipated that these sofas would provide long-lasting comfort, especially given their higher price point. I contacted Mark from Johnson's, who arranged for an upholsterer to inspect the sofas. The upholsterer confirmed that the foam in the cushions had deteriorated significantly, despite only four years of use. Mark responded by contacting Brentwood Furniture, but they were unable to offer any assistance. In response, Mark generously offered to replace the foam in the cushions at no cost to us. This unexpected gesture was greatly appreciated. All six cushions have now been replaced with new foam, restoring the sofas to their former condition. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mark and Matthew for their prompt and thoughtful response to our concerns. read more

I had a great experience with this company and have been recommending them to all of my friends. Yes, it took more than a month for the sectional to be delivered, but I was told in advance about this and there were no surprises. When we received the sectional I had some issues with the hight of the sectional and the softness of the cushions, which is completely a personal preference and to some extent a factory issue, but the guys at the store were amazing (especially Nick) and they were with me in every step of the way. There were patient, always available and they did so many changes free of charge. Quite honestly, I've never had better customer service and as far as I'm concerned this is where I'm going for my next furniture buy. Well, done! N.B. Four months ago we ordered a sectional and two swivel chairs by Brentwood. Arrived June 2022. Patrick and his team got it to me at a better price and time frame, than I was quoted elsewhere. With supply chain issues delaying things, I was able to get periodic updates of the factory progress. Concern for my needs and coordinating delivery was handled well. I found visiting the store was better than just phoning as they seem always busy but got answers for me as needed. In the end the product arrived and is just perfect fit for our condo. I kept on calling them and getting the same answer which is "next week". I totally understand there is delay caused by COVID. But they should be honest with the customer instead of kept on lying to me saying "next week". I also spoke to their store manager today who was incredibly rude and not helpful. He kept on talking over me and refuse to solve the problem. Please note that under the "Delivery of goods" section of the Ontario Customer Protection Act, it's illegal to miss delivery by 30 days. They are obligated to generate a refund if you can not deliver the product with the time frame.
