TLDR: Stay away, because they don't provide any value…read more I highly recommend you stay away from Raymond James even if you are intimidated by personal finance and believe you need help managing your money. That's in part because the entire profession has no fiduciary duty (an indisputable fact), but also because RJ fees (both visible and invisible) are ridiculous. Basically they'll try to sell you on maintaining a high "floor" and avoiding risk which sounds great, because who wants to lose money? But in truth, they are just taking your money in the form of direct fees and/or "revenue shares" (read kickbacks, the invisible fees I mentioned before) that incentivize them to point their clients towards expensive investments that under perform. I personally have lost tens of thousands of dollars investing with Raymond James as compared to just indexing the US stock market. The reason I worked with them is that my parents recommended them (my parents have since left as well -- they were paying INSANE fees to Raymond James that I am ashamed to admit.)

From my perspective, Tyler Spence is in a class by himself. He is not the only investment consultant I have worked with: he *is*, hands down, the best. I can always trust that Tyler is giving me sound direction. Clearly, he respects his clients' resources as much as he does his own. Tyler takes the time to inform and to educate ... he listens, explains and cares. Highly intelligent -- his integrity, accessibility and acumen are second to none. One always has a sense of respect and collaboration. I have interacted with Dawn, Tyler's sales associate, on many occasions, and am always grateful for the strong lines of communication and high degree of responsiveness I experience. There is no question in my mind that, with Raymond James -- in partnership with Tyler and Dawn -- my financial future is in the best possible hands. It feels good to be able to say that....

Have you ever felt that you didn't make enough money to receive good help from a financial advisor?…read more Or, that your needs weren't being met? Or, that you waited on hold too long to reach a person who wasn't familiar with you and your goals? Just because I'm not as fortunate as others to make a 6-figure salary doesn't mean that I'm not interested in planning for my future/retirement. Well, after YEARS of being in these situations with numerous different companies and financial advisors, I found Nick (as a referral by a relative in 2013). Nick does want to help you with your goals, does listen to your needs, and is much easier to reach on the phone (during business hours, of course). I always feel that it is the PERSON who has the skills to maintain good relationships regardless of which company they are employed. So, I feel that Edward Jones is fortunate to have someone like Nick working for them. After finding Nick, it was a HUGE relief off my shoulders, knowing that there was someone who could actually do for me what I been needing for the past 10 +/- years, and not have to feel that the "other shoe is going to fall". And, let's not forget Mary Kay, Nick's amazing office administrator. She is a very valuable asset to Nick and myself in so many ways. If I never have to look for another financial advisor as long as I live, then I'll be grateful.
