Her professionalism and dedication gave me great confidence throughout the entire journey. I would definitely recommend Bernadette for anyone looking for immigration services.

My journey with Bernadette began pretty much when I arrived with an H1B back in 2017. Over those…read moreyears, she was ALWAYS on top of my case, her communication was great and supportive. During Covid, when the renewal of my H1B (and my son's H4) was tricky due to the situation, she ensured that every detail of the process was done easily and efficient. She was always so willing to help, so approachable and understanding of the process in legal terms, but also the human side of this, and all that these type of situations mean for an immigrant. Once my employer approved the sponsorship for my permanent residency, and Bernadette's law firm was adjudicated to do it, she put on her super hero cap... and I don't say this lightly; my six years of H1B were almost done, meaning we needed to file an extension during the PERM Labor Certification waiting period. During that time, Bernadette worked extra hours for me, I could see the time her emails were sent; and I know she was working late at night for my case, she was always one text away to answer all my questions and concerns. My situation got really complicated; I didn't have enough time to recapture, so I had to leave the country several times (each time with her support and guidance) in one of those trips and because of external reasons; I couldn't re enter the country under the H1B, meaning the risk of loosing my status. There I was, in a hotel in Mexico with my 14 year old son with me and far away from my 9 year old daughter. As a single mom who brought her kids to the country, I have all the weight of responsibility on me. I will never forget the moment I called her, crying, so tired and scared; she was a solid rock as an attorney, explaining all the possible escenarios and options; but she was also a compassionate human being; who held me, felt with my emotions and gave me the most loving support. I wouldn't have continued the process if it wasn't because of her. I have that very clear. Her professionalism mixed with her human kindness are the reason why I'm here today. We jumped through all the hoops together, she had all the possible plans ready for my case, I know wholeheartedly that she worked really hard, so many hours for me and my family. She represented me and advocated for me with my employer, which ended up supporting my case greater than expected because of Bernadette's work. Everything that was on Bernadette's end was done so fast and so well; the long waiting time for the Labor Certification was absolutely out of her hands, but even then, I had the emails, the messages and phone calls making me feel at ease and with clear perspective of all the possible outcomes. Yesterday, March 14th of 2024, after years of process and more than 13 months waiting for the Labor Certification; I received Bernadette's text message sharing that it is approved. Words can't express what I felt yesterday. Her work, commitment, passion for her career and migratory causes, her willingness to do not the extra mile but the thousand extra miles, change the future of my children, myself and my entire family. She made it happen. I can't recommend enough this law firm, they are a team of amazing, knowledgeable and experienced professionals and incredible, loving human beings. In a world where things get harder for immigrants, finding them has giving me back the faith in humanity.

I am a 59 year old man and retained Lisa to represent me when my wife filed for divorce (my second…read moreher third). Making things more complicated were mental health issues and a teenage daughter. I chose Lisa after completing evaluative interviews with 11 other attorneys and completing a number of reference checks. Lisa's hourly rate was not inexpensive, but it was $100 an hour less than the attorney my wife hired. Lisa is a very busy lawyer; but then again, all divorce lawyers are busy now, especially the really good ones. I believe her work as a mediator helped her to better represent me, especially given the fact that my wife's attorney had come to her to act as a mediator in the past. Lisa appears to have productive relationships with key figures in the process and was very familiar with the judge assigned to our case. While I wouldn't say she was cozy with opposing counsel, they did seem to be able to work effectively when client behavior became especially challenging. Clearly there was mutual respect. Most importantly, Lisa was able to take negotiations to the brink of going to trial and win major concessions from the opposing side that I thought would never be given. By not going to trial, we likely saved as much as $100k. Lisa presented a professional balance between encouraging me to settle while at the same time being ready and able to try the case. In summary, here were the key aspects of my work with Lisa that I appreciated the most: Outstanding "bedside manner" despite a very difficult adversary. Reasonable hourly rates as well as efforts made to curtail hours billed/costs. Good teamwork - oftentimes if I was not able to reach Lisa I would receive a response from her support staff who could either answer questions or give me an idea of when Lisa would be available. Their rates were reasonable and I never felt over-charged. Good working relationships with other lawyers - I believe this led to a more fair final settlement and kept us from going to trial. Experience as a mediator - This earned her the respect of opposing counsel and also allowed her to better represent me when we went to mediation. Provided outstanding referrals to parent coaches, mortgage specialists, mediators, and therapists. Appropriate level of urgency to keep the process going and finish it without a trial. Good negotiation instincts. Nice person - someone you enjoy talking to. I would and have recommended Lisa to anyone who needs effective representation especially under very difficult circumstances.

Talented. Gifted. Winning the Outer and Inner Game in Family Law…read more "Mary Jones was recommended to me by a well-known, recognized Austin family law attorney. This endorsement reflected confidence in Mary by her colleagues and the knowledge that she would work to the utmost to win. In my case this was a high conflict and complicated divorce which she won decisively. I have come to believe that Mary is talented and gifted lawyer. Over the 18 months I worked with Mary, I came to understand-though not knowing the law-that there are outer and inner aspects to a successful case. The outer has to do with the technical aspects of the law and knowing it cold. I came to believe that she knew the minutiae of the minutiae. But it is not only that Mary knows the law but she also continually works at fine tuning it to circumstances. In my case, Mary dealt with a pre-nuptial agreement executed abroad (Africa). Her brief to the judge was innovative and convincing even though she had not advocated before His Honor before. She knows what needs to be done and will have the client working effectively-saving legal costs- on needed detail of the case from the beginning. This non-stop drive to perfect a case insures no loss of momentum even if there are setbacks such as court reschedulings. She continually seeks improvement on the legal argument modifying as circumstances change which they did with my spouse. Importantly, her court performance is confident and very powerful. The inner aspect of the case is the work with the client; keeping them fighting and never giving up; helping him or her not to act from bad ideas or react from their worst instincts. This means getting to know the client well enough to make them their own best advocate. This also requires reassuring in case of client doubt or fear, and moderating client emotion and worry so that these feelings do not undermine the hard, cumulative work done by both attorney and client so that they both ultimately, as a team cross the finish line as winners. In summary, one wants a situation where when the court is over an unknown bailiff spontaneously tells you that you had a 'heck' of a lawyer." Mary is that kind of attorney. I have an addendum to make to my first review and that is to note that Mary is in the case even after the court has decided. She continues to support months after the decree has come down. She realizes that while the court decision might be positive the final victory is getting the client back on track, into a positive life. Perhaps for her the case never ends because it is about people not the least of which are the children involved.

Mary did an excellent job of completing my lengthy and complex divorce. She had the right skills to…read morecomplete the financial aspects and negotiate the settlement.
