Wow!!!! Having been very disappointed by a similar attraction named "Spook Hill" located over 3,000 kilometers away in Lake Wales, Florida (http://www.yelp.com/biz/spook-hill-lake-wales), I decided to check out Magnetic Hill to see if my car did roll uphill this time. Located off of TC Highway 2 Exit 450 (Highway 126) adjacent to the Magic Mountain Water Park and Wharf Village, there are plenty of signs directing you to the Magnetic Hill attraction. A $5.00 per vehicle gate admission is charged (during peak season), and you are directed to a staging area to read further instructions (in English/French): 1) Drive in right lane to the bottom of hill. 2) Pull over into left lane beside white post. (where the paved section becomes a dirt road) 3) Place vehicle in neutral. 4) Release foot from brake. 5) Guide your vehicle backwards up the hill. Reluctantly with skepticism, we followed the instructions to a T and guess what????? Surprisingly to us, OUR CAR SEEMED TO ROLL BACKWARDS UPHILL FOR OVER 700 FEET!! Well, Magnetic Hill is actually an ILLUSION with the surrounding terrain disguising the true horizontal level of the ground. The "secret" behind Magnetic Hill is illustrated on a sign at the adjacent Wharf Village (check out the posted review picture). This roadside illusion was pretty cool. Overall, this pitstop off the highway was worth checking out on our way to Prince Edward Island. Now I can say that I've been to both Spook Hill in Florida and Magnetic Hill in New Brunswick, being impressed by the latter. That's my 1,100th Yelp review, and first milestone review in Canada, eh!

It's Canada's longest bridge at 8 miles long and the world's longest over ice covered water! They have a nice park and stop on the Charlottetown side where you can walk around a bit and also see fisherman boats and read historic plaques. If you're lucky, you'll see a few ospreys.

However on our way into PEI it was pretty windy, white caps on the water & two hands on the steering wheel! There are 2 options to enter PEI.. bridge or ferry. This is by far the most efficient route to & from Halifax.

There is a real community hall feel to the pub, it's definitely not the fanciest or somewhere you'd typically bring a first date. But who needs fancy, who need pretentious - good people, good food, and good beer is sometimes all you need! We were a group of 8 and my husband had luckily found out about The Black Horse via Google search. Sitting down with hungry bellies, seven of us opted for the mussels to start for $5 per pound. Now. These mussels are farmed just down the road and come in plain, buffalo, wine & garlic, or spicy tomato (I see they have a new salt & pepper popcorn flavor as well!). The. Best. Mussels. I've. Ever. Had. No joke. Just delicious - all flavours. The meals were decent, not super memorable though - the sweet potato fries were very tasty. The food was pretty much typical pub food, which is why I take one star off this otherwise 5 star review. The service was really some of the best service I've had anywhere. How often does the owner come up, chat with your table, and sit down for some welcome conversation? How often do they really, actually care and go out of their way to find out how you like the food? He was very proud of the buffalo wing flavoured mussels with blue cheese dipping sauce - his own creation. Rightfully proud, I might add, they were soooo tasty, great flavor combination! And when we mentioned that we were interested in deep sea fishing, he called up his cousin and handed my husband his cell. It turned out his cousin ran a deep sea fishing boat and we met up with him the next afternoon! All in all, it was memorable PEI experience for all of us...I'm only sad that I do not have access to those mussels any time I want!

Dishes ordered: Mussels Wings Fish & Chips The mussels were more plentiful than the first visit and super fresh. We ordered them plain this time, and they were so good. There is no reason to dress up these mussels. Not one mussel in the whole dish was even unopened which means they were super fresh. The wings were superb. Crispy, and seasoned skin. So good! We ordered them with the homemade BBQ sauce, great choice. The wings were so tender on the inside. Fish & Chips were the only complaint. The filet was quite thin so it was overcooked. I think if we had a normal sized filet, the kitchen would not have screwed it up. The batter though, was very tasty and cooked in very good/fresh oil. The fries, same as last time, were fresh, well cooked, and excellent. Beer, cheap. Great.

Winter is here!…read more This spot is a perfect place for a myth to originate from. I don't know if there are any Canadian or First Nation myths that originate with this cave. However I do know of one story told in the Slavic tradition. There is a Russian mythological being called Snegurochka or Snow Maiden. I like the version where she only can come to life in the the winter and melts in the summer. Only to be reborn in next winter snows storm. I can imagine this cave would be the perfect home for a supernatural being like Snegurochka. It took me 45 minutes to walk along the snow packed trail mostly uphill. I'm somewhat of a fast walker too. The little ravine is safe to get to, but quite slippery in some parts. I did see some young couples with small children brave the trail.

There is a central fountain surrounded by a short boardwalk along the water and interior perimeter of the shops. The Deckhouse Pub seems oft-recommended here, but it is also one of the only places to eat a full-service meal at the Landing, so if you're staying anywhere nearby, you will likely end up here (probably explaining why they accept reservations). The Deckhouse was adequate / average for local beer and flavor, with two small upper decks of a few tables. Seats outside overlooking the water boost the vibe a bit. Basic Krusty Krab nautical decor inside. Spinnaker's Landing is an okay stop-off on your PEI driving tour. Won't take long (unless you have wee ones, then all bets are off :) ). The Landing seemed to be referred to in all tourist literature as "the" place to go in Summerside, according to island recommendations and research. Because of this, we expected more. To the point where we got there after all the brochure hype and said, "This is it???" So if you go, understand it is merely a little horseshoe of a pit stop if there are no special events going on, and not necessarily a day-long destination if you are trying to cover the island in less time than you'd wish. Spinnaker's Landing gives the feel of a pop-up tourist spot. It is not a historic fishing village, but manufactured-to-look-like-an-old-fishing-village. It's akin to a film set or Disney facade, which is absolutely fine if that's what you like, or you know this fact in advance. It may also be just right a place for older visitors or anyone with difficulty walking long distances -- it gives you a little dose of a few shops with a ramp-accessible boardwalk. But we were a group hungry to experience the best of PEI -- we did not feel this was it. The consensus was if we had skipped this spot altogether, we wouldn't have missed much. So if authenticity is more your style and you are crunched for time, you might skip the anticlimactic Spinnaker's Landing stop and dedicate that time to any one of the plethora of climbable lighthouses, historic buildings, and ragged landscapes awaiting you on beautiful PEI.
