I enjoy trying out strange and fun things. I've heard that Magnetic Hill was one of Eastern Canada's best known tourist attractions, which is touted as a GRAVITY DEFYING attraction where you drive your car to the bottom of the hill and your car rolls uphill in neutral. Wow!!!! Having been very disappointed by a similar attraction named "Spook Hill" located over 3,000 kilometers away in Lake Wales, Florida (http://www.yelp.com/biz/spook-hill-lake-wales), I decided to check out Magnetic Hill to see if my car did roll uphill this time. Located off of TC Highway 2 Exit 450 (Highway 126) adjacent to the Magic Mountain Water Park and Wharf Village, there are plenty of signs directing you to the Magnetic Hill attraction. A $5.00 per vehicle gate admission is charged (during peak season), and you are directed to a staging area to read further instructions (in English/French): 1) Drive in right lane to the bottom of hill. 2) Pull over into left lane beside white post. (where the paved section becomes a dirt road) 3) Place vehicle in neutral. 4) Release foot from brake. 5) Guide your vehicle backwards up the hill. Reluctantly with skepticism, we followed the instructions to a T and guess what????? Surprisingly to us, OUR CAR SEEMED TO ROLL BACKWARDS UPHILL FOR OVER 700 FEET!! Well, Magnetic Hill is actually an ILLUSION with the surrounding terrain disguising the true horizontal level of the ground. The "secret" behind Magnetic Hill is illustrated on a sign at the adjacent Wharf Village (check out the posted review picture). This roadside illusion was pretty cool. Overall, this pitstop off the highway was worth checking out on our way to Prince Edward Island. Now I can say that I've been to both Spook Hill in Florida and Magnetic Hill in New Brunswick, being impressed by the latter. BOTTOM LINE: It is what it is, just roll with it. It's one of those things that if you're passing by Moncton, you should pop in just for the novelty. Based on an optical illusion that you're rolling up the hill, it'll give you about 20 seconds of fun. I would recommend going twice so the driver/passenger can swap positions because you have to roll backwards to experience the illusion and even that little attention you need to give to keep your car straight is enough to distract from the whole thing. read more

The 7-day Tour East Bus trip that I'm traveling on stopped here; we have 50 tourists in our group. The $222.50 attractions package includes access to the Whale Watching Boat Tour, Thousand Island Boat Tour, Hopewell Rocks, Maritime Museum, etc., of which this attraction is one of the experiences. Rolling up Magnetic Hill in a coach bus is really underwhelming as compared to a regular vehicle. Still, it's a great optical illusion that distracts in a positive manner as compared to getting stuck in Toronto traffic and seeing crazy drivers reverse their vehicles hundreds of metres to take the off-ramp they just passed! Okay, it's amazing and my mind is about to explode... Gift shops, a coffee shop, a restaurant with patio seating complete the Wharf Village attraction. read more

Its an illusion but not managed very well. I was very disappointing. You are paying for it so there is an expectation for some guidance. The two girls were explaining what needs to be done properly plus they were letting the other car come in quite early. The space is limited and you want to be careful that you don't hit the other car. Plus the sign is not clear where to stop as everyone was driving much further that the reversal point. I would recommend if you are going there just for the hill, dont bother. There is a water park and few shops in the area. read more

Worth the drive from Halifax? Well, kind of. I'll admit it up front - I don't get Magnetic Hill. In fact, I find it positively dull. But there are other things to enjoy. The Magnetic Hill Zoo? Count me in! I visited last summer and had a lovely time. Mini Golf? That's my jam. And while I haven't tried Magic Mountain water park, I did enjoy lounging around on a deck in the sunshine, watching other people get wet. The hill itself is a letdown if you ask me, but the overall experience of this area is worth a visit. read more

This was a spiritual experience. The perfect cap to a perfect day in Moncton, New Brunswick. Exhilarating, mind melting and absolutely mesmerizing. The staff was friendly, helpful and quick to crack a tasteful joke. Six dollars for a wonderful afternoon excursion. Perfect for the whole family. Can't get your teenager to put their phone down? I believe in the power of Magnet Hill in bringing the family back together. Do yourself a favour and experience science first hand hand in this world renowned exhibit. The hill itself was neat to see as it's an optical illusion that makes it appear that you are going up a hill while the car is in neutral. I was skeptical about this but it definitely works! Not sure I would pay for this but we went after season so it was free. It just takes a few minutes and is unlike anything else I've ever seen, so was worth stopping by. All of the other activities in this area were closed for the year, although the weather was great in early October. I guess we will have to visit again within their season for the museum and other activities. read more

Ok. First of all, I didn't have to pay since it was November when I went, but I would be annoyed if they made me pay to do this. It was a little difficult to find, but not....it makes no sense. Anyways...drive to the bottom of the hill, it feels like you are gong down hill at first, put your car in neutral and immediately it feels and looks like as if you are going up hill! A much-hyped, yet somewhat amusing roadside attraction where your car does appear to roll uphill. Although it is impossible to see from the comfort of your car seat, the road does slope downhill, even though the adjacent topography makes it appear to be uphill. It is convincing, although the spectacle is promoted as though the feat was death-defying. read more

Came in a fairly large group, around 15 people in total. The park was pretty much empty with the exceptions being other small families. We went for water bumpers and there was no other people in line for it. We were told that we would have to wait a bit as there were people about to go cart that were there a little before us. Fine with us, we were okay with waiting. 20-30 minutes later they were done, we were still waiting. as that group left, we expected to be the ones to go next on our activity. however, another family arrives for go carting and they immediately start to set them up. a family member of mine complains that we have been waiting for a long time and that we shouldn't be waiting for others to have to go even though we were lined up way before them. their responses were that go carts have priority over everything else, and if people were going to be lining up for go carts, then they would always have to focus before anyone else. Absolutely ridiculous, the fact that they had the audacity to admit that they would ignore us if others were to keep coming. read more

We had a great time at the zoo, the animals all looked happy and healthy. There was a lovely play ground as well, and a couple Places where we could go in and feed some deer and goats. The park has all paved walk ways that where clean and well maintained, all the animal enclosures were clean and well kept. There were lots of ducks many of which were free range so in some areas you need have to watch where you stepped, which was almost to be expected. It would have been nice if there was some concessions stands Open in the park, as we had to leave much earlier then we wanted to go get food. If you're in the Moncton area with or with out children this is a nice way to spend an after noon. read more

We got lucky. The road around there was under construction when we went so it was free. It is cool but its not worth paying for. Its a quick 5 minutes of wonder. read more
