After checking out the winery, we made a quick visit to check out the cheesery next door, Gibbston Valley Cheese. You can sample a few types of cheese for free. They also have honey, sauces, bread, charcuterie meats, cheese boards and cheese knives. - Cheddar ($5.40 NZD) - this was nice. Much subtler, more flavourful and less strong than your typical cheddar. We bought a small package to eat with our meal later that evenin. Loved this tiny cheeserie! Right next to the Gibbston Valley winery, and right off the highway. It's small inside, but they manage to make like ten cheeses, and have a small menu for cheese boards, light apps and sandwiches. The staff was friendly and very patient going over every type of cheese as well. I loved the relatively large assortment of other goods they have for sale. Chutneys, jams, chocolates, and super cute soaps. Decently priced as well. Basically, stopping here after a wine tour is essential. Go on a tour, then stop here for a full glass of wine and a cheese board and enjoy the amazing views. read more

I've never been to a Cheesery before....such a wonderful eyepiece on my friend's and I little road trip to Lake Tekapo. We sat on the bean bags outside and had wine and cheese board among the vineyards. It was perfect. Highly recommend!! read more

Located not too far outside of Queenstown, this establishment is located on the grounds of a winery / Vineyard. The cheeses were delicious and they sold nice variety of platters featuring your own selection of cheese is accompanied by fruit olives etc. the winery next door is huge - we opted for the wineries that were less inundated by tour busses. Nevertheless the cheese here was excellent and we bought a selection to feed us the remainder of our trip and even a couple pieces to vacuum pack for the trip back to the US . Nice enough setting considering it's right by the road, but rather ordinary cheeses. The chorizo was decent, but we grabbed a second sausage that was actually damned good. Not a bad break from just wineries, but not much more than that. read more

Looking for a light snack prior to our Kawarau bungy jump, we stopped in here (mostly, at first, because one of my friends is obsessed with cheese and I wanted to send her a picture). Inside, we discovered all sorts of cheese paraphernalia, a delightful assortment of cheese even suitable (dare I say, enjoyable?) for those of use who do not yet delight in all that is cheese, as well as drinks, a lovely hot menu, and an amazing assortment of honeys. We bought a goodly amount of vacuum packed cheese to bring home to the States with us as well as cheese paraphernalia for my brothers' 'Classy Nights', and my mother had what she said was an excellent glass of wine prior to seeing both her children leap from a perfect good bridge. Post jump, we returned for food, and a couple warm baguettes, and bowl of soup later, fell in love with this little cheesery. We plan to return during fruit season, and after picking fruit from further down the canyon will return for cheese pairings. The staff is incredibly knowledgable, kind, and friendly. The cheese here is really good. We made the mistake of buying anything else made there though - had an order of the flatbread that was really bland (and had no pesto whatsoever despite being advertised as having it). Worst of all we dropped some dollars for one of their amazing looking breads only to find out later it was almost completely unbaked on the inside. Buyer beware, if you cant sample it there then steer clear. read more
