Deepa is just a wonderful caring person and is briliant in how she operates her bed-and-breakfast. She puts out a great spread for breakfast every morning which is delicious, fresh, and scrumptious. Make sure you get one of her special croissants. Rooms are very well cleaned and has all the conveniences you would need which include a comfortable bed, a private bathroom/shower, a TV, and a closet to name a few. There is also a common area on the second floor where you could lounge to relax, use the computer, the kitchen, and mingle with other travelers. I highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to London. I plan to stay here on my next trip.

He said the most loyal guest had visited from the age of 5 to 90. Here are reasons pertinent to choosing the Harlingford yourself: * It's affordable and pleasant. * It's a short bus or tube ride or a moderate walk from Soho/Leicester Square Theatre * It's a short walk to a couple of tube nexuses where you can jump on nearly any train line * It's close to attractions like the British Museum The hotel is a two-star hotel and will be a different experience than a Hilton or W Hotel. However the price offsets this difference as you're saving £100-200 per night! The free full English breakfast can give you a substantial and quick start to your day. If you are addicted to Starbucks there are two within two blocks. There are several nearby dining spots including an Indian restaurant named Depa and a city-class fish shop named North Sea Fish Restaurant. When looking for a hotel for our five night stay, there were many affordable options in good areas of London, but in the end we chose 69 The Grove, a lovely B&B in the Vauxhall area of London, and it was a GREAT decision. 69 The Grove is so-called because the address is 69 Vauxhall Grove. It is in the Vauxhall area, which is just south of the Thames. While a bit further away from all the main attractions in London, it was just a five minute walk to Vauxhall Station, on the Victoria Line, and took just 20 to 30 minutes to get to wherever we needed to go. It was a perfect balance of being in a quiet residential area and having quick and easy access to the busier parts of the city. It was also within walking distance of many restaurants, parks, Westminster Abbey, Parliament Square, Lambeth Bridge, and other attractions. I absolutely loved the area. The price of our five night stay was $1,205.35 CAD (including all taxes), and a full English breakfast is included each morning, Monday to Saturday -- an excellent value. While the room was small, it had everything we needed -- a private bathroom, comfy bed, a mini fridge and kettle, and it was clean and quiet. If my budget allows, I want to make another trip to London, and I hope 69 The Grove is still in operation. It was such a pleasant place to stay, and I would not hesitate to go back. Good location. Extremely dirty room and bathroom. My bed…read moresmelled like piss and there was no AC, I opened the windows during the day to let the room air out (I'm quite temperature sensitive) and when I came back the windows were closed as he made up my room. The bathroom was atrocious. A 3 foot by 8 foot shoe box which was extremely disgustingly dirty. The shower door was broken and the fan was so dirty it made me gag. Was woken up at 6:30 every morning by loud noises as the walls are thin. Additionally the owner was extremely weird and overtly friendly. He offered me a visa to live in England within 3 minutes of meeting him. Saying he has a job for me. He forced me into a conversation about American politics and gun control. When I mentioned I was going to a restaurant with friends when he asked me what my plans are in London, he said he might go to the same restaurant on the same day (effectively inviting himself to come with me). The stairs up to the third floor were filled with whatever he was hoarding, making extremely unsafe in the event of a fire. He left the front door unlocked at most times and as a result I never felt safe inside the building. Additionally the English breakfast was bad. Overcooked rashers and frozen hard sausage links. The mushrooms were bland, the tomatoes were not ripe and very hard and the eggs were swimming in butter and also very bland. He did not season anything. The bread he gave me was under toasted and bad. He made sure that I ate some fruit like he was my parent, calling me "My boy". His "helper/server" during the one breakfast I went to had 0 clue how to operate as a server and it seemed like they were in a weird relationship. Overall extremely creepy and weird vibes. If the issue was just a misleading room description and dirty bathroom I would have been able to stay for my entire reservation, but the vibes I got from the whole operation were very bad. I left after 3 of 7 days and never looked back, trying to not let it ruin my trip to England.

The pub is steeped in history and that is reflected in the well kept but near un-touched interior. They have some great ales on tap and all are served with a friendly smile and, if not too busy, are happy to talk through some of the pub's history. The garden here in the summer is fantastic. The views are breath-taking and they run a barbecue every Sunday which of course, does attract a huge crowd so either get there early or have some extra bags of patience with you. We head there without fail once a year with a big group of friends and spend the whole afternoon eating and drinking beer, I highly advise you to do the same!

Despite the hotel's name and being in the city of his birth, the association with the legendary director is basically only the Hitchcock memorabilia that is generously featured throughout the establishment. Sir Alfred Hitchcock Hotel is basically a reasonably priced, 25 room bed and breakfast with a pub and restaurant. The pub has a pretty solid variety of beers, wines and spirits, and is a great place to pull up a chair next to the fire, relax with friends around the bar, or on the patio. It's a convenient hangout for me, since my apartment is basically right next door. On most nights, there is a good mixed crowd, but the place is packed with standing room only when big soccer matches are on. Although they serve dinner, and are well known for their "Psycho Steak," I don't enjoy most British cuisine, and thus just stick to the beer and good conversation. Although this isn't necessarily a first pick as a tourist destination, I have a soft spot in my heart for the place because of the great times I've had. It's in a…read moregreat location, just about a 15 minute walk (partially along the forest path near the River Cam) south of the city center, which also makes it more convenient to walk to Grantchester village if you want to visit the Orchard Tea Gardens (which you should do!). If you are arriving at the Cambridge train station a cab is only about £6 as of 2014 if you don't want to drag your luggage through the forest, which we found out the hard way. Jonathan is a very kind and helpful host, and everything is chosen with great care, from the modern yet functional fixtures, to the clean and unusually large beds compared to other beds we encountered in the UK, to the beautifully handpicked furniture. Jonathan also buys groceries early every morning, so the fresh fruit and local sausage and bacon he serves are outstanding. He also makes perfectly cooked eggs, as well as delicious homemade fruit smoothies! I would definitely stay here again.
