I have used this Hotel for some years, it has changed hands more times than I care to mention. On my last visit, I was not impressed, it was not cheap and yet now is very 'shabby'... very disappointed read more

I had the salmon, sea bream and panacotta from the set menu. My wife enjoyed the asparagus, chicken followed by lemon tart. Food is excellent, beautifully presented and service was very good, with the exception of the lady who poured our Prosecco with too much gusto! Seems harsh to knock off a whole star for this so I'm sticking with a 5 star review. Great value for the money and I'm looking forward to going back.

The food was, as usual excellent. One of our party has a minor disability and the attention we received from the staff to make everyone comfortable was noteworthy. Well done The Manor.

Ye Olde Plough House
Finding a decent restaurant to meet up with friends for Sunday lunch we decided on Ye Old Plough…read moreHouse in Bulphen. Entering their restaurant we noticed, for a change, that the tables were set out in A1 style. Beautiful folded linen napkins on a table laden with good cutlery ( laid out correctly for three courses), wine and water glasses, sauces for roast meals and coffee cups. So far so good, in fact, quite perfect. We ordered starters and main meals of turkey, beef and gammon. Now the negatives start entering. Starters were average. The main meals were totally tasteless and lacked adequacy. Roast potatoes needed a saw to cut them. The veggies were good, well cooked and in plenty. Service was very Essex. Little politeness from the young waitresses and, in some instances, the plates were 'thrown' onto the table. The serving staff do need a bit of training. Prices, I must admit, were reasonable. All I can say is that this establishment caters more for Weddings than normal running trade. Would we return.....Definite NO.

In terms of location, there are several shops, restaurants, cafes, laundromats, pharmacies, and grocery stores for convenience. Deepa is just a wonderful caring person and is briliant in how she operates her bed-and-breakfast. She puts out a great spread for breakfast every morning which is delicious, fresh, and scrumptious. Make sure you get one of her special croissants. Rooms are very well cleaned and has all the conveniences you would need which include a comfortable bed, a private bathroom/shower, a TV, and a closet to name a few. There is also a common area on the second floor where you could lounge to relax, use the computer, the kitchen, and mingle with other travelers. I highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to London. I plan to stay here on my next trip.
