They have a great selection of jewellery, in fact, I often end up getting myself something when I'm in! Lots of beautiful silver earrings, and often they have matching necklace/bracelet sets available. They also stock a range of cards, candles, trinkets, bags, scarves.... It's a bit of an Aladdin's Cave! The floristry area at the back looks nice, I've never bought flowers from them, so can't comment, but it looks like they have a good selection. The staff are cheerful and friendly and happy to have a chat - I've seen other customers ask questions about the flowers and they certainly seem to know their stuff. If you're passing and in need of a gift, or something pretty for yourself, then make sure you pop in!

I'm probably being a bit acerbic and unfair. I just don't really have time for shops that sell 'stuff'. The other thing about this places is the smell. They have a massive collection of candles (duh!), scented and unscented. The thing is, a single scented candle on its own can be quite pleasant. Even a few can be OK. But a whole shop full of clashing scents is positively nauseating. To me anyway. You might like that. I'm not saying this is a bad shop, that wouldn't be fair at all. It's got myriad candles and an impressive greetings card assortment. And loads and loads of stuff. Gifts, some people call them. It's just not for me. I'm told it's because I'm a man and I just don't get it. I don't think I want to either.

I was here last week with my mum as she wanted to have a look inside for - specifically - some terracotta coloured candles. The ladies inside seemed pleasant and directed took her in the right direction, and she left content with two terracotta candles costing £6. It also sells gifts and little ornaments and things to fill the mantlepiece with. As you can probably tell, I'm no expert in this field but it all seemed pretty reasonably priced. I'll definitely bear this place in mind for future Mother's Days and impending birthdays.

Miss Katie Cupcake sells everything from necklaces, to handheld vintage mirrors, to photo frames. I love the style in this place - unique and vintage looking products. I pop in quite often (I have a stationery problem) and I rarely leave empty handed. They're really great for getting in new stock and are fantastic at sourcing cool stuff I've never seen before, which makes it ideal for buying gifts (even for one's self...) This is actually their sister shop, the original shop is called Curious & Curiouser is based at the bottom of Broughton Street and it's just as great!

The shop itself is really quite small, but I've never been in with more than one other person so you don't really notice the size. They have the best and most amazing selection of greeting cards I've ever seen. Some are really lovely and pretty and some are just hilarious. I understand the point that you can't really buy silly stuff for yourself...but why not! I live for this stuff. Stocking a number of gizmos that you never knew you needed until you spotted them in here, Present inspires you to buy some really cool designs. From their Love/Hate chintzy mugs, Doodle on a Photoframe gift and the shoulder bags with X Ray prints on them, Present stocks some really bizarre, bad ass accessories. Most of the items in this store are quite unique and can't be lumped into the one category. I guess I would describe it as urban chic - a little like Urban Outfitters, but much more unusual. I especially love their wacky jewellery that lionizes dogs, or is just plain beautiful, like their plastic heart necklaces. It's also nice to find somewhere in the UK that stocks the Gamma-Go range. There are so many great gift ideas contained in these four walls, and Present stocks the most innovative, creative gifts you could imagine. I only stumbled upon this place a few days ago but am now going to be a regular. The only thing is, I can't really see me actually buying presents in here - I'll be too busy spending a lot of sweet money on myself!

Consumers of pop art and culture will love it and you're unlikely to come out of Lava empty handed. Surprisingly, they have a jewellery collection which also showcases local designers! There were some gorgeous earrings recycled out of old plastic items, including vinyl. There were also handmade clocks made out of old vinyl singles which would appeal to most ages. I stopped in here today because they had Moomins in the window. The fact that they sell Moomin mugs would be enough for 5 stars in my mind, but that is not the only endearing quality. They sell a great selection of products and the staff are kind and friendly. Emma was very nice and helpful to me today, and patient while I squeaked with joy over the merchandise. They have a great selection of holiday ornaments and gifts. You should definitely visit them for any gifts you may need this upcoming season!

I often go in when im buying gifts for people but of course I always come out with something for myself too :) The best thing about this shop is that the goods are very affordable but the quality is not compromised..a combination that is hard to find!I'm slowly building up a Spektakular collection and when I move flat in a couple of months i'll be making space especially (and i'll have to arrange a party so I can buy the gorgeous martini glasses I have my eye on too). definitely worth a look, particularly if you are looking for gifts.
