They allow the kids to learn but also are not too intense that they don't have fun while they are leaning new skills. They have me as a crazy dance mom who always has a ton of questions yet they consistently make me feel like my questions are welcome and valid. Even though I fumbled a ton, the people there were friendly and encouraging. It has an upbeat and no-pressure environment. I would say the bachata class was much easier than the salsa class, but both were equally enjoyable. I ended up joining the beginners program, and I am very much looking forward to my second class. This is easily qualifies for a FIVE star rating.

The kids are as welcoming and friendly and courteous to any new student that may transition to CMDA. Another annoying occurrence is that it takes weeks/if not months for something to be fixed (example the sensors in the sauna) There is a group of older gentlemen who continuously talk about the saunas/stream baths in their original country of origin. They continuously mess around with the heat sensors at the YMCA claiming the sauna here isn't "hot enough" as it is in their country of origin. They in turn mess up the sauna and put it out of commission for weeks/if not months.

When she expressed interest in taking classes, I searched for a dance studio that would foster her love of the discipline of ballet, etc, and teach her the proper terminology and techniques. I also wanted a studio that emphasized that dance is fun, that it's joyful, and that it wouldn't be so intense that it wouldn't be fun. I was looking for "rec league" dance. I found a highly professional studio run by experts that are well versed in the mechanics, discipline, and techniques of dance, that had high expectations of their dancers, but who had also created a fun, exciting, dynamic, family-style, loving, joyful environment. It feels like their students are their joy, and dance is their medium. I absolutely love that my daughter attends Greendale Dance Academy. She is hooked for the long haul- and is giddy with excitement when it's a dance day. She's normally very impulsive and a little feral, but in dance class, she is focused, attentive, and a hard worker who is proud of her control over her movements and her body, and is looking forward to learning french :) Enroll your kid. They will love it. Melissa and Pete and their team run an incredible academy. My only regret is we enrolled her at age 7, and not earlier! Her confidence has blossomed, and she adores her teachers and classmates, and takes great pride in her work both in class, and in demonstrating what she learned each night at home after class.
