Ha. The annoying thing is that if you are using an American credit card, prepare to wait to have a manager come over so that they can watch you sign. I'm not sure what that could possibly do to help w/ fraud, so I find that quite annoying. I understand that you are sometimes going to have problems - but that's just the downfalls of owning a business. And if you are going to make people annoyed that would generally shop there all the time, you could lose business over this policy. If you want business, isn't the general rule that you get your customer lovin' on? That's what I'd do if I wanted to make money. I'd also like it if they sold some cheap tupperware. I mean, I'm making food here, and I'm single - I need a place to put the left-overs. Again, that just makes sense to me, but maybe the numbers just don't support it. Overall, I like this the best of the grocery stores in Worthing. However, I'm starting to fall for Waitrose again. We had a little falling out after they tried to kick me out of their cafe... but I'm feeling forgiving.

They were very friendly though and pointed out that their boss would be back in a couple of hours. There was a huge amount of different herbs and spices, olives and dates on offer that gave the whole place a fantastic and really intoxicating smell. The shish kebabs looked really nice and were cooked on a flame grill but I settled for a jar of stuffed olives. If I'm ever facing the prospect of cooking for people I don't like though I'm going back for a dozen sheep noggins!

A huge Tesco out-of-town store on the north edge of Shoreham. It's just off the A27, but the…read morejunction only allows access to and from the east. You can get to and from the west, and Brighton and Hove, via the A270 Old Shoreham Road. It's part of the larger Holmbush shopping centre, but the Tesco is the main (and busiest) store. It's huge, and open 24 hours. As a supermarket, it has just about everything you can possibly imagine in the normal range of groceries. In addition, fresh food counters include: a delicatessen, butcher, fish counter and hot chicken counter; and the specialist ranges include: Kosher, Polish, Asian and Afro-Caribbean. There's also a large clothing section, a pharmacy and an opticians. Facilities include toilets, cash-points, baby-changing facilities, a small recycling centre and it is fully accessible with step-free access. Outside is a Tesco petrol station that usually offers the cheapest petrol in the area, and is why I usually visit the store, if I'm honest. The only downer is that the petrol station is way too small at peak times, so be prepared to queue. One of the new innovations is a series of free bus services operated by Brighton buses from various towns and villages and Brighton suburbs to and from the store. The store is absolutely huge and has everything you would need for your standard weekly shop. The shelves are always really well stocked and everything is laid out perfectly. The car park is rather large so there is never a problem with finding a parking space. It is also situated very conveniently just off the Old Shoreham Road. My favourite thing about it is their incredible Free From range. As someone with specific dietary needs, this is really important to me.

I'd never been before, its one of those…read morehistoric market towns that takes quite lot of pride in its not particularly remarkable heritage. Still, it has some cute old buildings, and, as it turns out, a bloody fine tea shop. The Steyning Tea Rooms certainly look the part, with a very Cath Kidson-esque aesthetic. As well as being a tea room, there are also a few gifty bits on sale, like embroidered Matryoshka door stops, bird shaped pegs, and so on. What really makes it great though is the food. The menu is extensive, and reasonably priced. They obviously do a great selection of cakes and drinks, but with some more interesting additions than just the norm, for example, you can have a cream soda or a coke float to drink. We shared a tuna, cheese and sunblushed tomato melt, a rhubarb scone with cream and rhubarb jam, some Sicilian lemonade and a raspberry lemonade. The lemonade was wonderfully strong and traditional tasting, the melt was heavily loaded with the tasty toppings, and the rhubarb scone was the best of the lot, with lots of pieces of real rhubarb baked in, and a tangy jam to offset the cream and scone's sweetness. Those items together came to about £13. We were served by a not exactly effusive, but not unpleasant lady with long dreads, more what you would expect from a café in Brighton than this quaint Steyning tea room. Altogether it was a ruddy jolly show.
