We needed help planning a garden in front of our home, so we chose Ginger Valley based on its reputation and our belief that their staff would know the best design and plant selections for our property. Ginger Valley designed the garden, selected the plants, and completed the installation. The original planting was completed in July 2024 and cost approximately $3,500 for a landscape containing 45 plants. Unfortunately, it has proven to be one of the worst investments we have made. The garden looked beautiful when first planted, but within a month several plants began to struggle. We contacted Ginger Valley, and their representative agreed that some of the plants were unlikely to survive. Their warranty provided a one-time replacement of failed plants, so we agreed to wait until the following spring to determine which plants would survive before replanting. In the spring of 2025, the garden was redesigned, different plants were selected, and 36 of the original 45 plants were replaced. Once again, the garden initially looked attractive, but within two months many of the replacement plants were struggling as well. Throughout the process, we were given various explanations, including that the area was too shady, too sunny, receiving too much water, or not enough water. Our concern is simple: Ginger Valley visited our property, evaluated the site conditions, designed the landscape, and selected the plants. We expected them to choose plants appropriate for the environment they observed. In addition, we monitored soil moisture daily using a moisture meter to avoid overwatering or underwatering. As of the summer of 2026, only a small number of the original and replacement plants have survived. The final disappointment involved a Nova Zembla Rhododendron that cost $149 and was planted in July 2024. During the summer of 2025, many of the leaves died and the entire plant was dead in the spring of this year. When we dug it up in June 2026, we found that the root ball remained completely intact. After nearly two years in the ground, the roots had still not spread into the surrounding soil, despite the fact that administered root stimulator as prescribed. We understand that some plant losses are inevitable. However, when a landscape is professionally designed, the plants are professionally selected, and the majority of those plants fail despite a redesign and replacement effort, it raises serious concerns about the original design, plant selection, and installation practices. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend Ginger Valley for landscape design and installation services. read more

Stopped in to purchase shrubs. Decided on 3 Stonehenge Yews that were all marked $22.50. Went to the register and they rung them at $49.99! I asked and they said the tag was incorrect. There was a whole section of them and they were all priced $22.50 with crisp tags. They would not honor the price as marked. I am a regular customer there and will not return. I'm sure they do not care anyway! read more

Went a few weeks ago, and was instantly agitated with the pricing. In walking in, your met with a beautiful assortment of garden gee-gaws, including things like bird baths, windchimes, solar lights, bird feeders, etc. In flipping over the price tags, I was honestly sticker shocked. ALL of the items being sold are outrageously priced, my immediate thought was that I could go to Hobby Lobby and get similar items for half the price! The real kicker for me was seeing an identical bird feeder I had purchased last year at Walmart for $14.99. The price here? $29.99! Walked out without buying anything. This place is in the perfect location, catering to the ever-pretentious Grangerite who doesn't care to get the most for their buck. I'll stick to Varners just over the state line in MI where plants & gee-gaws are so much more reasonably priced! read more

Ginger Valley installed some landscaping for me. I had selected a specific tree that I wanted and it was tagged with my name. The install was done in the fall when the tree didn't have many leaves on it and I wasn't paying close attention. The next year, I was looking at the leaves and realized it was a completely different tree! They could not explain why the tree I selected was sold to someone else and they chose to plant a completely different tree without my knowledge or consent. My invoice showed the tree I selected but the one I got was wrong. They also demo'ed a small retaining wall and took the cinder blocks with them, which I intended to use for a fire pit. Several plants died but were replaced under warranty. The replacements were mismarked and I got the wrong plant (again!) so they didn't match the other ones in the ground. One of the ornamental plantings selected by Brent was way too big for the space, which I told him at the time, and now needs to be moved. A few of my sprinkler heads were buried or otherwise damaged. I liked the overall design, but the process was rough because of poor communication, a disorganized install, and the failure of Ginger Valley to actually provide the plants I had selected. Considering how much I paid for the project, I expected a lot better. I won't use Ginger Valley again. read more

This garden nursery store is very overpriced and just a few staff members that are knowledgeable but that particular staff member on the commercials I think his name is greg. He needs to retire he is so blah no enthusiasm whatsoever. Once upon a time he was alrite but he now continues to repeat the same thing over and over so monotone yikes. read more

I was excited about buying some bushes for my new landscaping project. The service was very unfriendly, and they showed no interest in helping me, which is the whole reason why I chose to go to a nursery in the first place. These people are supposed to be specialized in their field. The first guy acted like I was bothering him when I asked him questions. I managed to stay positive and bought some bushes that I thought would go nicely with my landscape. I brought them home and left them in the pots overnight. When I went out the next day I found foam like substance in the bushes. I called Ginger Valley, and they confirmed through pictures I sent them that the bushes were infested with spittle bugs. Cindy also confirmed that some of theirs also were infested. She said I could bring them back for store credit, but I could not get a refund. So I brought them back that day. and THEY TREATED ME AS IF IT WAS MY FAULT THAT THEY SOLD ME INFESTED BUSHES!!!! Everyone there seemed to know about my situation, so they must have been talking about me before I showed up. Out of the 6 people I dealt with, NO ONE OFFERED AN APOLOGY FOR MY INCONVENIENCE, and a man whom I assume was the nursery manager was giving me dirty looks the whole time. This was my first and last purchase with Ginger Valley Nursery. P.S. Today, I went to a DIFFERENT nursery, and found some very nice accent perennials. This place overall has good quality plants but a lot of the tropicals are extremely overpriced. Same goes for their annual and perennials. That being said they do have some unique finds that nobody else around the area has. So those are worth the $$$. They're always happy to help answer any questions as well. read more

We placed our initial call to Ginger Valley in May. Ash Kapala was the landscape designer who assessed our property along with Brent. We discussed several ideas and we were ready to move forward with a formal design. They recommended we come in and review their actual design concept as well as look over planting options. We had appointment set for June 15 with Ash. After waiting for 15 minutes in the greenhouse, where we were directed, we found out she wasn't even on the property! When I reached out to her, she said she forgot. I asked if we could move forward with the hardscape portion of the design proposal and she told us that she would meet with Brent and get back to us in 2 weeks or so; that was on June 20th and no follow-up. We decided Ginger Valley is the wrong business to work with since their follow through is extremely poor. We don't want to have a project started and stalled part way through. This is a great nursery even just to walk around in. There is a fish pond inside the main greenhouse, and out back there is a small walking path around the garden. The selection depends on what you're looking for. There are many garden plants, some house plants, and usually very few succulents/cactus. The employees and gardeners are all friendly and are quick to greet and offer help to customers. read more
