Tantanmen had sesame oil flavors and the shoyu broth was very light but a bit bland for me so I added the extra sauces they had on the table. The noodles are made fresh in restaurant and they have a clear glass so you can see it being made if you're lucky. It was pretty cool watching one of the workers make it. The noodles definitely tasted great and was authentic. This ramen place is a bit on the pricier side and my friend said the prices were noticable raised but she loves this place so much, it didn't bother her. There are public bathrooms downstairs that they keep taken care of. As soon as you sit, they have clear separating glasses between tables which feels very sanitary, I love it. The ramen served is very aesthetic. I love the way they write their slogan on the nori. My favorite part is that they give you a bib to wear which was easy to put on. Both my friend and I definitely needed it because we both had soup spills on our bibs haha service was nice and they have wifi as well. This place seems to get packed very easily!

I had the most amazing duck salad I've ever had in my life, with a lemon lime vinaigrette fresh finish, a beautifully prepared perfectly cooked sea bass, accompanied with the perfect sides. I was so full but could not leave out the beautiful desert. Hato is on my top 5 list with Joel Robuchon, French Laundry, morimoto's and Alain Ducasse's worldwide places. Greatness all around...5 stars!!

I looked at the menu before going and was super excited but to be honest, the host was not very friendly at all. She gave my friend and I a look and apparently we were not up to her standards or maybe she is a snooty person? Our waiter had the same attitude at first, he did not give any explanation on the menu, except that he volunteered info that we could opt for a glass of wine instead of a bottle if we wanted to save some money (not kidding!). However, when the food arrived we were in heaven! All the dishes were AH-MAH-ZING. I honestly don't know what was the best: the Hamachi with yuzu & truffle was super delicious, the dressing complemented the fish instead of overpowering it. I was super hesitant about the eggplant nigiri sushi but my friend wanted it and it surprised me pleasantly. In addition, the sashimi was by far the best one I had in Switzerland. I also want to point out that the matcha chiffon cake was a big hit, even for people like me who are typically not big on desserts. I must also admit that our waiter seemed to mellow up once we ordered food and drinks, he was very happy to give us recommendations of Japanese whiskey to finish our meal and the manager gave us free shots to end the evening - so I guess the initial awkwardness disappeared. However, I still think that restaurants should be welcoming to everyone, regardless of how much they spend, hence, I am not giving it a full 5 star review. So this is a super high 4 star review, overall I had a great night at Hato, maybe 5 star is in their future because I will definitely revisit.

She is warm, engaging, incredibly knowledgeable, and a true master of her craft. Her passion for both food and wine shines through in every conversation, and her thoughtfully curated wine elevated each course beautifully. The omakase itself was nothing short of extraordinary. Every dish was impeccably prepared, balancing artistry, flavor, and technique. What made the experience especially unique was the culinary journey across Asia--each course was inspired by a different region, telling its own story while seamlessly fitting into the overall progression of the meal. Every bite was intentional, creative, and absolutely delicious. This is so much more than dinner; it's an immersive culinary experience that celebrates the incredible diversity of Asian cuisine with elegance and authenticity. If you appreciate exceptional food, outstanding wine, and genuine hospitality, this restaurant belongs at the very top of your list. I cannot recommend it highly enough and will be returning again.

Right in the front of the store is the made for take out foods, such as sandwiches (which there is a turkey sandwich with mango sauce that I like), salads, wraps and sushi/sashimi. I normally get the fast option of sashimi (available in salmon, tuna or both) with rice and a miso soup - the sushi/sashimi are priced well and are of ok quality (vs buying your sushi from Migros/Coop, eek). There is also a hot foods buffet (Asian) but it can be pricey so watch how much you pile on! Inside there is a Japanese noodle soup area, which I have tried once - it is okay, but nothing to die for.

We ended up eating the sushi boats. We are from San Francisco, so it is possible that my perception is bias by our verity of delicious sushi restaurants, but I got a very mediocre 4 piece salmon role ($14) and my husband got a tuna rice dish with egg and seaweed ($19) with 1 water $4.5) and 1 beer ($4.5) and this came out to $45!!!! WTF???? If this was some amazing sushi than maybe it would be worth it but for cold, mediocre and less than well cooked rice sushi ?!?! Come on!!! The service was good though. But if you'd like good sushi this is definitely an overpriced, less than tastey option!
