Our concerns primarily stem from the inappropriate and unprofessional behavior displayed by the teacher, who is also the owner of the school. She showed a pattern of passive-aggressive communication which created an atmosphere that was tense, uncomfortable, and contrary to the nurturing environment one would expect in a preschool setting. One of the most alarming incidents involved the teacher threatening to involve the police when we arranged for a family member to pick up our daughter's belongings. The overreaction was deeply unsettling. Instead, I had to involve another Mom to help get my daughter's things. Among the items returned to us was a painting my daughter had done especially for Miss Heidi after her cat died last year. This "drama" all stemmed from my husband's response to her email, letting her know we aren't moving away-just leaving the school and she verbally attacked him. However, this wasn't the first time we received a passive-aggressive and extremely long email (like this review, I've got a lot to say!) After our daughter stopped going to Marigold, we discovered that the teacher had sent an email about our family to other parents. This email contained numerous inaccuracies, further highlighting the lack of professionalism and accountability we experienced during our time at the school. This teacher's actions not only undermine the trust necessary between educators and families, but they also bring into question the very ethos of Marigold School of Early Learning. Her actions reflect directly upon the school and its values, and unfortunately, our experience was far from positive. She even would make comments about "feeling sorry" for my daughter! This is also not an inclusive preschool, which as a mom new to the whole school scene wasn't really on my radar. She made a few comments about how my Deaf son would have to go to school with other kids like him (she said this to my daughter). The teacher also tends to dish out unnecessary information to other parents about other parents. I have emails that I can show to prove her unprofessional behavior. Communication matters. It is very important. It is the essence of being human. I wasn't even going to write a bad review because her teaching style was exactly what we were looking for and she write a detailed journal of the kids' days and I thought maybe this is an isolated incident. But after hearing from other families that they had similar interactions with her, I feel like it is important I voice our experience. It is my hope that parents considering this preschool should be aware of these issues and take them into account. As parents, we entrust educators with not just the academic growth of our children, but also their emotional wellbeing. It's disheartening to think that such behavior is presented in an educational setting where developing trust, respect, and healthy communication should be a priority.

I would not recommend this school!…read more There were many red flags leading up to our first day but I brushed them off due to the convenience of the location and the desire for our daughter to continue in a Montessori program after she aged out of our previous school. To name a few of the most significant issues faced during the 2021-2022 school year: -The assistant teacher left the school within 1 month of working, the hired on assistant left within 2 months of working and the lead teacher left within 4 months of working. (At the end of the school year, I learned 2 more teachers left). This alone should be very telling! -The communication from the owner Katrina was chaotic. We were flooded with nonsensical emails frequently. The policies were always changing. -We prepaid tuition for the year and received confirmation that we "paid in full for the year!" Then during winter break there was a tuition increase and we were asked to pay the difference. This made us question the business management measures Katrina had in place. Why would we ever choose to "pay in full" if it is actually not "in full" and the price is still going to increase for us halfway through the year? -The children in the upstairs class missed over 1.5 months of school (over a 5 month period) due to covid cases. There was no tuition reimbursement for these closures. No other preschool in our area (16 were called) dealt with the inconsistency, the closures, the regulations and/or the protocols that this school had in place. The interpretation of the state wide covid protocol was not in line with the other local preschools and the chaotic nature of dealing with covid/sickness once again made us question the leadership as a whole. When the parents started to question these policies and procedures, families were literally KICKED OUT of the school and their personal items were left on the porch for pickup. More than 1 family left on their own volition, several others were looking at their options at the time of this occurrence. -She attempted to kick our child out via text message because we questioned her inconsistent and ever changing sickness protocol. Our child has had excellent behavior and was never a troubled kid. She simply did not want ANY dialogue regarding her policies. -Upon telling Katrina we decided to pull our daughter out she shared "I was not kidding when I said she can go, her stuff is already on the porch." She never once made an attempt to allow her to say goodbye to her class or receive any kind of closure. -We were told a check for our tuition reimbursement of $3000 was sitting on the front porch of the school with our daughter's stuff in a bag over the weekend (SO INAPPROPRIATE). We told Katrina we were out of town for the weekend and she responded with, "It will still be there on Monday." When we returned to pick up the bag, there was no check. She claimed she "mailed it to us" on two separate occasions. After confronting the situation 3+ times because it never arrived in the mail, Katrina finally sent us a paypal payment for our $3000. A check never was sent in the mail and never arrived. It was straight up dishonesty. It is important to note the director Katrina wanted to retire and she did not plan on being a teacher this year. Though, due to all of the staff leaving she was forced to pick up and teach again mid-year. I am not sure how it was in the past, but at the present moment she demonstrated emotional volatility, impulsivity and most sadly, dishonesty. I understand the year of 2021 was very difficult. We had a lot to deal with regarding the economical and social impacts of covid. However, this does not justify the lack of professionalism, poor business practices, insensitivity to children and transitioning out, chaotic leadership and dishonesty. Keep looking for other schools and good luck.

I have put both my kids through LMS, my youngest is currently enrolled. I have had nothing but…read morepositive interactions with the program director and her staff. My kids both love Katrina, and I have no doubt she cares for them. What I appreciate about Katrina is that she meaningfully engages with the children. She likes to talk to them, and listen to them, and make them feel seen and heard. She gets on the ground and plays with them. I have seen both of my kids make great strides under her care, from understanding basic numbers/letters, to life skills, like confidently putting their own shoes on, and washing their hands before/after meals. Finally, when my 5 year old entered kindergarten this year, she was already reading and writing, which is owed in full part to LMS. I understand there were some safety concerns earlier in the year, but I was satisfied with the way Katrina handled them. I also personally did not take issue with Katrina's conservative approach to the pandemic. At the end of the day, what matters to me is: a) are my kids happy, and b) are they learning? At LMS, I can confidently answer yes to both.

We have had a great experience at Tree Hill. Our daughter has attended since she was 6 months old…read more She has grown so much and connected to many wonderful teachers and kids. As a kindergarten teacher I have really high expectations about child care and have recommended Tree Hill to many families. They have a great communication system and provide a clean and safe environment for all children. They truly want each child to be successful. I have also gotten to work with them at my elementary school. They provide great before and after school care. We are grateful for Tree Hill!

I enjoy looking at this school…read more My grandchildren are in school here. I don't hear well anymore because I'm old, but the sound of the recess bell never escapes me. Whenever I come to this playground it brings me back to my innocent youth; tetherball in first recess, red rover and kickball in afternoon intermission (what it was called before recess). A lot of the learning is done outside the classroom and on the playground. This playground is, as Donald Tremp says, "huge". Lots of area to learn. I don't anymore, but I miss the days where I used to be a recess safety officer (duty). I was able to tell all the children to be safe and make them listen to my stories of my youth. We have been dealing with bullying issues over the last year, and so far multiple times this year…read more The principals at Lincoln elementary have refused to return phone calls regarding the matters, set "meetings" with us that they were unable to attend, and over looked the issue many times. Now it was brought to my attention that a "Mr. Jason" who is employed at Lincoln has in some form been encouraging and/or ignoring the issues. I would not send your children to this school until they get better staffing (if you have the option). After having this issue I also spoke with 2 other parents that have recently pulled their children out of Lincoln for similar problems! Never is it acceptable as an adult; especially working at a school (who should be setting a proper example) to tell a 6 year old that they deserved to be punched in the face by another student. They refuse to do anything about the bullying, and employee bullies at that. Not to mention they are obviously not adequately watching our children.
