Our daughter has been going here since this school year started, she's in the 2.5 program and she ABSOLUTELY loves it! This school has been wonderful; the staff is so kind and warm, and they genuinely care about children. We could not be happier that this has been our daughter's first preschool experience. She is ecstatic to go to school every day and I never worry about here while she's there because their communication app makes it so easy to shoot a quick message to her teacher or the director. And I LOVE that on Fridays they will upload pics from the week on the app so we can see what our daughter has been doing and who she has been playing with. I highly recommend! read more

Little Acorn is a Montessori Nature based preschool. This school exceeded all my expectations and helped shaped me to be a better mother. The care and love my child receives on a Daily basis makes me feel so good about leaving her. I have never had to worry about her since the first day she started. The teachers have always been attentive and make her a priority. She is taugh in a open classroom with responsibility right off the bat. She is encouraged to have open play and practice practical life skills. She is taugh with peers of various ages so shes able to be a leader and follower in the same classroom. Little acorn cared about the whole child and is a strong supporter in being outside as much as possible. My child has loved every moment if her time here, I can not wait for her siblings to attend in the coming years. read more

We were recommended to this school by two of our friends who's children also go there. So we decided to give it a shot with our son's first year of any type of an organized school setting. From the very first day I was impressed. We started out with two days a week and now have him enrolled all five days. He loves it and has made such sweet friendships already. Here's a quick list of things that Little Acorn accomplishes which are important to me in a preschool and kindergarten. 1) Positive Attitudes No matter what, even when my son has a rough day and the teacher needs to let me know, it's always an attitude of "tomorrow is a new day" and "this is what we did to work through it..." I am really impressed that the teachers understand that everyone has a bad day sometimes. Maybe some more than others. But it doesn't mean they're a bad kid. It's just all part of the learning process. 2) Perfect balance between structured learning and child-led learning My child thrives in a structured environment. But he also likes to make his own decisions and not be forced into things. He needs time to process. The teachers have been excellent at giving him just enough encouragement while also letting him make decisions that have their own natural consequences. For me, this is important for my child to learn. 3) Support for families too At this school it's not just about the child's education needs. It's also about how Little Acorn can support the family too. We experienced this first hand in a number of ways when my mother in law was diagnosed with cancer. The teachers were caring and concerned for us. They asked what they could do to help and checked in with us often. Schedules needed to change and they were very flexible above and beyond what we ever expected our son's school to do!! We were blown away. There are many more things I could say but the list would go on and on, so I'll just stop with those top three priorities of mine. It really, really pains me to give out this 2 star review. I'm hesitant to even write it, because I really don't like that my review could possibly hurt a business, but I feel like other people should know about my experiences here. The director, Maria, is a total sweetheart. She is the main reason we were convinced this would be a good school for our daughter. The classrooms look awesome, and they have a lot of activities for the children to participate in, however participation is not mandatory for the kids. This was the first issue we had. While I don't think participation should be forced, I do think it should be encouraged, especially for my child who tends to be very focused and engrossed in what she's doing at the moment, sometimes she needs direction to move onto the next task. At open house night, there was a bulletin board on the wall with all the kids pictures and my child's was not there...but every single other kid's was. My daughter's dad asked the teacher about why hers wasn't there and was met with a defensive attitude. I let it slide, I wasn't there so I don't know if maybe he came off the wrong way. The second week of school my daughter came home With a bleeding cut on her hand. I asked her what happened and she said two big boys beat her up. I asked the teacher the next day and she knew nothing about it, but informed me that they were on the playground with the older class. I figured maybe this was an isolated incident and they just missed it. Then field trip time....emails were sent with the wrong date and time, and we missed the pumpkin patch field trip. I brought up to the teacher and was told field trips would always be held during the actual class time....ok but if an email goes out with the wrong date and time then another should be sent to correct it. Teachers were very disorganized, losing forms and sign up sheets all the time. The teachers are more classroom managers in that they will not get down and play with the kids, they are not cuddly lovey teachers, even though it was a 3 year old class it seemed strictly business and I never got the feeling that they enjoyed their jobs much. This is not meant as a personal attack, I do not think they are bad people I just think there is a ton of room for improvement. We recently took our daughter out of this school and are in a small home daycare now and very happy there. She was not removed due to the issues we had here but more as a necessity for scheduling. read more

Let me preface this review - with full disclosure - that I am personal friends with the Director, Maria Williams. That said - here's my review. We moved to the northwest in 2005. At the time, my kids were just turning 3 and 5 in late fall - so both needed to be enrolled in pre-school. This was my single biggest priority in moving here - to find a good pre-school in an area where I knew no one - and years before Yelp existed. I stumbled across Little Acorn when talking to another pre-school, which turned out to be too far for me to drive to. They referred me to Little Acorn and said their programs were designed after theirs. I visited several pre-schools and chose Little Acorn. I met with Maria - who at the time had only been there a short while. I loved the way the class rooms were decorated, the indoor play room and the outdoor playground. Maria seemed dedicated, warm and friendly - so we signed up the kids. My son spent three years at Little Acorn, my daughter two (one year in pre-school and one year in their Kindergarten program). These were great years for us. We were more than happy with all of the kids teachers and I felt Maria did a great job. It wasn't until after my kids had left the school (and moved onto public school) that Maria and I developed a friendship outside the school - while there she was simply the Director and I was a parent (served on the Board for 1 year). I felt the program was more than reasonably priced, felt the teachers really loved the kids and I liked the various activities the school held - carnival, auction, various field trips, etc. It was a very positive experience for us and with Maria and many of the same teachers still there, I would highly recommend this school to anyone with pre-school or kindergarten age children. Pre-schools are a very personal choice and I fully understand that this school may not work for everyone - but I know for us it was a truly wonderful experience and I'm so glad we found them. read more

Two kids and two years later I am in love with this school. The teachers for the 2.5-3 yr olds are amazing, loving, kind and so freaking patient! My two year old had a hard time adjusting and so I was able to spend an all morning session as well as 3 40 minute sessions in the class to help him get used to it. I can't get over how patient they are with these kids! They have a great schedule that they follow, with craft time, play time, songs, stories, outdoor, sharing. It's really great. My other son is in the 4 yr old dragonfly class and it is amazing! The teachers are so fun and encouraging and my son is making huge improvements with writing his name, coloring in the lines, general curiosities about life, playing with others etc! Both boys love school days and are sad when there is no school. Each teacher sends an email at the beginning of each week with what is going on for that week and for the remaining of the month/quarter. if there is a field trip they give you all the details. I have never had incorrect field trip information. If incorrect information is given then I am always informed before the fact, maybe the poor reviewer had missed a second email or something? I am not sure about the poor review on here as I have not had one bad experience. Most of the families that go here have had multiple siblings/relatives/friends that have gone here. Nothing like word of mouth! This school is also very reasonably priced and they give a discount if more than one student is enrolled. read more

The teachers are absolutely incredible, getting to know all of the details of each child's learning preferences and the best way to work with each child. My son went to little acorn a couple of years ago and I still get the warm fuzzies thinking about how wonderful an experience it was for my little guy. We love Little Acorn!! My son has attended the past 2 years and my daughter will attend this fall. It is obvious that all of the teachers love their job and are fully engaged with the kids. It is a more play based school which I think is hugely important to children's development. There are plenty of opportunities for parents to be as involved as they would like to be. read more

Little Acorn is an amazing school!! As a former preschool and elementary school teacher, I found myself very picky about where to send my daughter for her first school experience. We visited and observed several different schools and Little Acorn was where I found what I was looking for. The teachers truly enjoy teaching and are calm, patient, caring and well educated. While there is a roadmap for units of study, the curriculum is also organic and can be driven by the children's interests and skills. I am impressed with the variety of activities and experiences the kids are exposed to. The classroom schedules are repetitive and consistent, as are skill and behavior expectations. Because the staff understands what is developmentally appropriate, students are set up for success on a daily basis. My daughter adored her two years at Little Acorn and wishes she could go back! My son attended little acorn for 2 years and they have an outstanding program. The staff was experienced and cohesive. They use a play based model and have multiple opportunities for learning and engagement. The staff are highly skilled in teaching social and emotional skills and make genuine connections with students and families. We left due to moving to another neighborhood that was too far. My son is thriving in Kindergarten and much of it, I truly attribute to his experiences at Little Acorn. read more

I have had 2 daughters attend Little Acorn and We have been so very pleased with their experience! My oldest started kindergarten this year after attending Little Acorn for 3 years of preschool. She is academically and socially ahead of the curve and I owe much of that to her dedicated teachers at Little Acorn. My youngest is still attending and loves it! The staff is amazing. My twins attended preschool here from age 2.5 to age 4, two to three half days a week. I researched preschools everywhere and in the end, settled on Little Acorn. I cannot say enough good things about this place. It's perfect for preschoolers. Safe, fun and with amazing, caring and experienced staff. Both my kids are soaring socially and academically in Kindergarten and I credit Little Acorn for helping shaping and preparing my kids for the next chapter of their lives. Thank you teachers Tasha, Kim, Caroline, Donna, and Katie. Right now, we are all sitting watching a DVD that teacher Kim made for my kids their last year at Little Acorn (when they were in the Busy Bee class). My kids love watching it and it brings back so many memories for all of us. I just can't thank the staff at Little Acorn enough for everything they have done for my kids. read more
