I'll spend $1,000 on some shoes but a wedding? No way. My first and second marriage total come to about $150 and if I ever add a marriage #3, the total won't be more than $250. This was 5 years ago and I wasn't picky but we really found a gem. I wanted to get the wedding in right around Thanksgiving to have a future excuse to get out of family holidays. The quick scheduling (less than 2 weeks) and $75 happy hour special (between 12 and 2) were perfect! Canned champagne in the parking lot beforehand, a quick in and out that totaled no more than 30 minutes, a few friends and we were hitched! The morning was spent at the gym and the evening was spent eating waffles and drinking cocktails on Cherokee (after a costume change, of course!). So stress free and cheap. The background used to be pink/rose but it looks like they've painted it a nice grey to update. It also had some wild carpet which looks now to be wood. It is (or was) cheezy in a classy way, if you know what I mean. Now it may be a little nicer which is fine but I enjoyed the quirky charm. When you first come in, you spend a few minutes with the officiant in the office getting things laid out. Then, it's on! We wrote our own vows, made jokes, and overall loved the officiant. I cannot believe people spend so much on weddings when this is just perfect and gets the job done (over and over and over again, if necessary).

The wedding I went to there was great, with pretty much no thanks to the venue. The "light show"…read moreduring dancing was awkward at best. The two men's room toilets had no door and no walls, respectively. One lady's room stall had a view into the kitchen. Most glaring, the in-house DJ was awful. Right after the first dance, he decided, without permission or even awareness from the newlyweds, to play some sort of elaborate military tribute. It colored the whole rest of the night, and not in a positive way. During the night, he just looked so upset to be there. At the end of the night, he chimed in to warn drivers away from a certain neighborhood in the area, claiming it was the "Ferguson of South County", a pretty clearly racist statement. If you rent this space, make sure the bathrooms are fixed first, and definitely bring your own DJ.

Attended a friend's wedding reception here, some pros and cons:…read more Pros: * Prices are competitive for venue rental, a DJ and bartender are included in the price * They appear to have no restrictions on external caterers * Far as I could tell, the owner (also the DJ), had everything set up on time, and the venue decor (medieval German kitsch - lots of dark stained wood trim, fake stained glass, and photos of Neuschwanstein) was delightful Cons: * Bathrooms are weird: men's bathroom has two sit-down toilets completely open to the room, one dividing wall but no doors, women's bathroom was 'vaguely creepy' * As the first song after the couple's first dance, DJ/Owner blared an orchestral rendition of 'Dixie' complete with slideshow of Confederate war veterans and climactic unfurling of the (modern) U.S. flag, to 'honor veterans, police and firefighters' - totally lost the room, made a lot of people uncomfortable Bottom line: great for the price, if they made it easier to poop, and picked a less *frightening* song to honor the troops (maybe try Toby Keith or Faith Hill next time?) would be an easy 5-star.

During the evening, when we added in some additions and changes, Sam handled them seamlessly--as if it was all part of the plan from the beginning! He kept up with the schedule and kept everyone engaged. The categories were terrific and the questions challenging but fair. Many of our guests praised the job that he was doing. I'll summarize the process:…read more- I emailed with Noah to give some details and set up an initial meeting time - I met with Noah to try some drinks to flesh out the menu (not free tasting, BTW) - I got the contract, finalized details of pick up/take down (complicated during Mardi Gras) and payed 50%. - A list of alcohol for me to purchase was sent out a week before the event. - They set up the day before, show up the day of, do the deed, I pay, and pick up their stuff the next day. Now, I used their glasses, their ice, their bar setup, etc. I only supplied the alcohol and mixers. I ended up with two bartenders: one experienced (Rob) and one learning. In the end, I probably didn't need two for the party of about 40 people. One would have been sufficient. We did three cocktails, one mocktail, one cocktail into a spritzer, one red wine, one white wine and two beers. It was a pretty stellar menu! Price-wise, it was about $1100 for 4 hours, not including alcohol. Seemed like a lot of money but is likely on par with similar services. I was very very happy with their service, their drinks and their set up. They'll be getting a call back for this year's party no doubt!
