Lauded as one of the best Indian places to eat at, my company colleagues took me here for dinner when I told them I was a vegetarian. They do have 3 pages of vegetarian dishes, so it is not lacking for choices. However, I am sorry, seems even the best Indian restaurant in Cologne doesn't compare to the Indian fare I have had in Connecticut! Perhaps I just didn't order the right things! I am willing to give this place another try however. The waiting staff too seems very annoying as they kept asking us every 5 minutes if we wanted to order another drink! Seriously, if we wanted, we were seated near the kitchen! There seems to be plenty of staff moving back and forth, trust us, we will get your attention! So if you can see that we are all in earnest conversation or working on our meals, please give us some peace and quiet! And really, I do understand your Hindi insults, so please don't go around loudly saying "Bhehain choot", or "sister fucker" in the restauran! I do not know who or what they were referring to, but it was very alarming and unpleasant all the same!

This is probably one of the best Indian restaurants by far! We are in the middle of our Europe trip (from the states) and had craving for Indian food midway and viola we found this gem. Highly recommended

Nice clean environment, lunch manu is cheap around 7€ / dish. Chicken tikka is highly recommended.

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in Germany. Very authentic food and friendly people. A wide variety on the menu.

Great food. Pretty authentic. But kind of expensive for the quantity served as compared to other Indian restaurants here in Cologne.

The best Indian restaurant in Cologne. Be it food, ambience , staff and personal touch, they are by far ahead of any other restaurant.

The dishes were excellent and the portions were huge. The fish curry was tasty, flavourful and had really good quality fish and prawns in it. The chicken variety plate was also excellent with tender chicken pieces coated with various flavours and cooked in the tandoor. The lamb shank I tried was tangy and tender and the Dal Makhani was my favourite. Proper black dal cooked for hours and creamy and delicious. A great place to have Indian food in Cologne. A bit pricey but well worth the money. Thanks for the recommendation Ika :-) a great choice indeed and great company.

Neither did the curries (panner tikka masala and sabzi jalfrezi ) tasted well nor did the breads( Butter naan). The breads that were packed for us were completely burnt from the base (wish i could attach the pics here) When I entered the restaurant for placing the order, it was suffocating and stinking inside. The ambience was not at all good. Dear owner of the restaurant, Yea okay your restaurant is called Kamasutra but that doesn't mean you go hanging around pics of naked people all around, even on your menu card; Kamasutra means a lot more. I would never suggest anyone this restaurant ever again in my life. Try Ginti restaurant in Köln it's much much better.

For some reason, I just couldn't find a place that really captured my imagination. To be sure, there a number of decent Indian joints in the city, but nothing that I fell I love with. I tried Thali on the recommendation of a friend. She said that an Indian friend told her about it, which was enough for me to give it a try. And, after many meals there, I can honestly say that it had yet to disappoint. The atmosphere is quaint, simple, and, above all, intimate. The dining area can only seat perhaps 20 or 25 people. The staff is very friendly- always ready to crack a joke. But, you don't go to an Indian restaurant for the atmosphere or staff - you go for the food. And this place delivers. Ever dish that I have tried has been superb. The various currys are flavorful, spicy, and complex. They offer great sides too including fresh Nan. Prices are a bit high compared to other Indian places around, but it's worth it. This restaurant is a must for Indian lovers living in Köln.

I would highly recommend the cauliflower curry as well as the chicken korma which is wonderfully flavorful with a bit of spice. A little odd was the Butter chicken, because for some reason, the curry was super duper sweet which I thought was a little bizarre. Other than that my friends all enjoyed the lamb and the coconut based curries with chicken. One thing you must order, are the mango lassis and the garlic naan. Never forget the garlic naan.

We started with an order of paneer pakora, and they came hot out of the fryers with three kinds of dipping sauce - a zesty yogurt, a spicy mint chutney, and a fruity (mango?) chutney. For mains, we ordered the Murgh Makhani (basically buttered chicken) and the Bangun Bharta (grilled eggplant that is later puréed with ginger, onions, garlic and spices). Everything had great and balanced flavours, and we got some good capsaicin heat where we wanted it. The mains come with plenty of basmati rice, which is wonderful for soaking up every last drop. The hostess was very nice and helpful, too. I point this out because I cannot digest mushrooms or tomatoes, and she helped me find something that I could eat without causing myself stomach trouble. She even went to the kitchen to confirm with the chef. The menu is in German and English, so no worries if you're visiting from out of town and cannot read German. It's a little on the expensive side, but I will be back again for special occasions later.
