We stumbled in the restaurant last Saturday and were delighted to find cholle puri (chickpeas with fried whole wheat bread), and a plate of Indian snacks (dahi vada or lentil fritters in curd, samosa, and pakoras). With a variety of four different products, not even one was what it could have been. What was sad was that the dahi vada was well made but had no saltiness and sweetness expected, the puri were reheated in microwave and thus crunchy as a papadam (which when we make at home is never served), and samosas/pakoras lacked salt. I feel its an insult to Indian food when basics are not right, and it saddens me that the locals will form an opinion of the cuisine which is false. I also felt that while the owner was serving others on their table, he was asking us to constantly pick our dishes from his counter.

The restaurant itself is spacious and comfortable with plenty of room between tables which makes dining feel relaxed rather than cramped. One downside was that the restaurant felt a bit too warm which made the experience slightly less comfortable especially while eating hot dishes. The bigger issue however was that the server repeatedly had a finger in or directly touching the food while serving. That was uncomfortable to see and definitely not ideal from a hygiene standpoint. That said the food was genuinely so good that I still ate it and enjoyed the meal despite that concern.
