Pretty good! Was in the area and wanted a quick, tasty lunch. This spot did not disappoint. Small with a few well place tables and a tv. Decent decor for a sit-down-carry-out. We got the whole chicken with 2 sides -- yellow rice and fries. The chicken was flavorful, tender, and juicy. The rice had veggies in it and was very good. Fries ... were a bit dry-- like fried twice. Staff was very helpful, friendly, and attentive.

Total hidden gem! We were in the area getting other takeout when I spotted this place. We gave it a try and I was so glad we did! This was my fave lomo saltado; I got it to go, and was so pleased with the careful packaging. It was just the right amount of spicy, and was perfectly balanced with some yellow sauce. I can't wait to try more dishes and highly recommend this spot nestled in the corner of a shopping strip.

OK so, I have been raving about this place ever since I moved to the area and I've even shared it with a few coworkers and close friends and I'm here today updating this review because they have lost this customer FOREVER! First, let me say this incident happened a few months ago and I did not want to do this update, but it keeps resurfacing and I feel compelled to inform the public about what they are dealing with when they spend their money and consume food from this place. Since they cut back on the ingredients in their sauces, I've been ordering extra sauce, especially when I ordered a whole chicken and other items . On this particular day, I paid for (three extra green sauce and three extra yellow sauce), and remembered that they did not deliver enough sauce the last time although I had paid for it, so I decided to call and reinforce my point about my sauce before my food was delivered. The young lady who answered the phone did not speak English. She tried, and then handed the phone over to someone else while I was speaking with her. When this person came on the line, I overheard her as she was handing the phone over to this lady, while calling me loco. When I ask this woman, "did she just call me crazy"? She brushed over my question and basically ignored it. Personally, I find this very offensive and comments like this could've been interpreted numerous negative ways. I am a customer and you don't know me to refer to me as "loco" I have paid you in the past for extra sauce and I never received them, and I never bothered to make a fuss about them, but this particular day when I wanted to make sure I was not ripped off again over some petty sauce I was called crazy. So to end this, y"all don't need this "crazy" woman's money. And good luck with your business and I hope you continue to receive only Spanish-speaking customers who you can treat fairly and give them all of the sauces for free while the rest of your customers have to pay for them. I mean my goodness we can make the sauces at home, but why should we when we are spending our money on the food? The sauce comes with the food. Some people choose not to have them, and some people choose to. When I choose and I pay for extra that's all I asked for. Money don't speak my language. Get your shit together! BYE‼

Gio's Restaurant is a small restaurant located near Weaton Plaza and on Georgia Ave. This is a traditional Nicaraguan restaurant, you will find the traditional= Nacatamales, Baho, Tajadas con Carne y Queso, quesillos, Lengua en Salsa. It's all tastes like Grand-Ma's homemade food.

Ok my fellow Yelpers this is the real deal. We have been looking for a place that sells Nicaraguan food for years and it is here. Have to try the Fritanga and fried cheese with a nice cold Tona. Super good and super nice service.

I used to eat here often but it's no longer very good. In my recent visit, I got 1/2 chicken with sides. 1 portion of the chicken was extremely dry. I suspect it to be leftover from the previous day. The other piece was ok neither had great flavor. They're also more expensive than other places with better chicken. El Pollo Rico in Wheaton is some of the best Peruvian chicken around and Gio's is more expensive. Not sure how that's possible. Gio's is close to my house and I used to like the place but somethings changed. Dry and no flavor. See pics. 1 piece was cooked ok and the other was overcooked , super dry or probably old.

The food was excellent! Chicken was flawless! The Yuka was cooked perfectly! The flan was awesome. The fries were meh, as was the rice. I would've been a repeat customer however, between eat24 and gios my order took 2.5 hours to arrive (both entities blamed each other!) and I was missing items (dessert) and charged me THREE times! I checked with eat 24 and they blamed the restaurant! Had to file fraud for my bank to fix. I may eat here again, however---I'll pick it up myself and pay CASH! read more

Just a caveat. this was my first experience with peruvian food. This place is fantastic. I had the chicken with yucca and plaintain sides. Very flavorful chicken. The sides were also well done and generous in size. A quarter chicken meal with white meat.was $8 and more than enough for a hefty appetite. Also, 3 sauces came with the meal. A mustard based sauce a horseradish and a spicy avocado. Yum on all 3. 2 thumbs up!! read more

Ordered a whole chicken with sides (french fries, fried rice, and black beans) for carry out. The chicken was amazing, especially with some of the green sauce. The sides were pretty average, but next time we might try the yuca or plantains. read more

This place seems to have something like three different names - Gio's on Yelp, Brio's on Google maps (which is the name on the front of the store), and there's a third name that's on the window that I can't remember. I was a little skeptical of this place at first given that it looks to be very small and was located in a pretty divey strip of stores, this place is great. It's very clean inside, and the bathrooms are also very clean - bonus! The food is really good - it's got your typical Peruvian chicken offerings, e.g., delicious, moist, and well seasoned chicken, fried plantains, coleslaw (very good BTW - chopped up small a la KFC style), corn, misc veggies, beans, etc. They also have some other not-so typical offerings, like stir-fried beef type dishes that you would normally find at sit-down Peruvian places, and not at a fast-casual type place. I didn't sample the beef - only the chicken so I can't vouch for how good the beef dishes are. But if the beef is anything like the chicken, it should be excellent. The staff is super friendly. The quality of this place was a surprise to me, and I give it a five star two thumbs up rating. read more

Love coming to this place. Especially when I'm craving a tasty "Pollo Saltado" that doesn't take long to order. When you call-in for pick-up, it only takes 10mins for them to prepare it. It's very convenient since it's around 5-10mins away from my house. They give you big amount of servings that will fill you up! And it's not that expensive. You're paying a good price with the quality of service and food you're getting. This is definitely my go-to food place! read more

What a great Yelp find!!!! The chicken is full of flavor. We tried after a local swim meet. The half and quarter chicken were very good. We had yuca and plantains as sides and they were also great. We also tried lomos Soltados was good served with lots of rice. Wish we lived closer so we could visit more. The service was quick and very friendly, spoke with owner for a few minutes to compliment the great flavors in the chicken. read more

I ordered food through grub hub, it was delicious, the lomo Saltado was very good a bit too chewy but overall really good.. the lomo came wrapped in foil, ensuring that when I got it.. it was still hot!.. I will be ordering from them again!.. very good experience!! read more

Had it lomos saltados delivered from here and it was excellent. Seasoning was great portions were very generous (they lasted me two meals). Only real complaint was how soggy the fries were but I think that's part of the dish depending how the chefs make it. I've had some where the fries are on top so they don't get soggy. All in all I'd like to go to the actual location and continue this review. read more

It doesn't get any better than this. Not a lot to choose from but they specialize in their Peruvian Style Pollo a la Brasa. Their chicken is so juicy, tender and delicious. I have eaten there so many times and the taste never gets old. Their steak dishes are fantastic as well, Lomo Saltado, Lomo Borracho and their Pique a lo Macho are a few that will fill you up and make you come back for more. read more

This Chicken is on point, prices are great no extra charge for Yucca, Plaintains, or Chaufa(Chicken Fried Rice) which are my go to sides. This is a Peruvian restaurant so I had to try the Lomo Saltado and hot damn that is the best Lomo Saltado I've had anywhere, and major plus it's not expensive. Great prices and Great Food. Another plus here is that they have beer so if I wanna watch a game, f going to the bar and getting mediocre food I just come here grab some brews and some Delicious food. read more

This place is amazing! The flavor is perfect! I love that they deliver and they are always so professional and courteous. The potato salad is a must try. It is definitely homemade. You can't go wrong try anything on their menu. They give very generous portions and you will be hooked just after your very first visit. The food is absolutely delicious. Chicken is amazingly flavored. Even when you have more chicken than you probably should, it doesn't feel heavy- unlike some other places. The chaufa - fried rice with chicken and eggs is so good. Try the hot green sauce. It's spicy, but goes so well with the chicken and the rice. read more

I am giving the review for the confusing signs NOT for the food. I bought a Groupon and took my mom to lunch, after visiting the FB page and reading the reviews I didn't mind driving 45 minutes for a good Peruvian lunch. I got to the location and was disappointed to see the very limited menu, but hopeful when I saw a huge board with the days specials. I believe I went on a Wednesday and even I started placing my order they were out of all try be specials except for the chicharron! I ordered 2 but asked why they have a board that says today's specials and they were already out of everything by lunch time. They explained that all those " Peruvian " specials were only on the weekends. The only Peruvian thigh they had was the chicken.... Well I didn't drive 45 minutes for chicken. I asked what about the chicharron I had just ordered, they said it was Salvadoran style as all the other food being served. I cancelled my order, and left. The staff was courteous. I returned my Groupon bit they haven't issue my refund yet even after I got an email saying " we have confirmed that the restaurant serves Salvadoran food " ....nothing against Salvadoran food but the Groupon ad says authentic Peruvian. I wish I had tried the chicken since it had good reviews, but again I was craving actual food. I am a Peruvian so pollo a la brasa to me is fast food. read more

Their chicken is that good and they do a great job of putting the seasoning under the skin so all the meat is really tasty. Their sides are a nice size and have several to pick from and unlike a place in Wheaton rice & beans is one side. read more

While the rice & beans were spectacular, it's disappointing that they were also the best part of the dish. That said, the servers were absolutely lovely - extremely friendly and even offered us samples of the drinks.

A fresh flour tortilla filled with refried beans, cheese, and crema, with the option to add extras like eggs, avocado, or different meats. I knew this had to be where Kyler experienced his very first baleada. To say it was a success would be an understatement. Kyler isn't the most adventurous eater, so getting his stamp of approval is a pretty big deal. He's officially a fan for life! We were there with my mom, and all three of us ordered some variation of a baleada along with pupusas to share. I also had to introduce Kyler to our version of horchata, which is different from the Mexican horchata he was used to. As an added bonus, we happened to visit during the World Cup, and the energy in the restaurant made the experience even more fun. Between the familiar flavors, sharing a piece of my culture with someone I love, and the consistently great food, this meal ended up being one of the highlights of our trip back to Maryland. For those of us familiar with traditional ethnic Chinese food, a menu written in Chinese is a good sign. They have traditional Taiwanese and Chinese food like scallion pancakes, sesame balls, beef noodle soup, soup dumplings, etc... Very good variety and there appears to be something for everyone, possibly with the exception of vegan dishes.. - Quality. Pretty good. Their scallion pancake was soft, not too oily, and not too salty. I prefer the scallion pancake to have been a bit more thick and flaky, but that's my personal preference. To be fair, still delicious. Their chive and pork dumplings definitely had a delicious chive flavor. Substantial and the wrapper was not too thick. Their spicy sesame paste tofu had a good flavor and substantive. The chili oil wontons were not too spicy and had a good flavor. Again, my personal preference would have been for the dumplings to have been more substantive, but still pretty decent. - Service. Pretty good. It appears most, if not all their staffers, speak Chinese (Mandarin), which was also helpful, because I specifically ordered in Chinese. I asked them about the spice level, because I wanted to ensure it would not be too spicy for my friend. - Price. Pretty good value for menu and portions. - Location. It's pretty easy to find. Also within convenient walking distance to the Silver Spring metro. The inside space is pretty good. Tables can seat a minimum of 2, all the way up to 8. What's Not - Quality. The sesame balls are smaller than I expected. They're the rough approximation of a ping pong ball, maybe smaller. I was disappointed, because I like sesame balls that are substantial. - Service. I specifically asked for soup spoons, because we were eating dumplings. Instead, they gave me regular spoons. Not all the dishes come out in the order you hope. For example, main dishes may come out before the appetizers. This is going to be dependent on your personal preference. - Parking. Given the convenient location(only rotisserie chicken place in Aspen Hill), I went into the restaurant very hopeful. I ordered a quarter chicken with coleslaw and fries. I am a difficult person to please when it comes to 'pollo a la brasa', so it was very satisfying and relieving when I took my first bite. Not only was the chicken flavorful, but it was consistent in taste all the way through the bone. The fries were also cooked as intended: crispy, moderately salted, and appropriate oil saturation. Just when I thought I was convinced the meal was good enough for my approval, I proceeded with the coleslaw.
