UPDATE: Still fire , love this place and its authentic Nicaraguan food. Tried a few more things today and will definitely be going back. At 10$ the quesillo is a little pricy but it's my favorite thing on the menu Also had the enchilada which was delicious

Carne asada de res was good. Although tostones and tajadas were previously made hours before. Staff super friendly. Place keeps full every time I go. Amazing food, Pitaya is a great beverage.

Cacao drink. Not the best and watered down. I am from Nicaragua and it doesn't not take like my country at all.

Customer service was good. Food and atmosphere was not the best. Gallo pinto was just sitting there and not covered the way it should be. It was served cold. I will not be back. Too expensive for what this taste like BUT the milca was delicious.

FINALLY a Nicaraguan restaurant in the area! I was so happy I found this place. I ordered the salpicón and it was delicious. My mom, who is a picky, eater got the chancho frito con gallo pinto and really enjoyed it. The portion sizes are generous. The decor is really nice. I am looking forward to coming back!

Soooo happy I found a Nicaraguan restaurant close to DC (thanks to yelp) and even happier after I tried the food and loved it!! Delicious, authentic food served in a warm, casual environment with friendly service. It might not look fancy from the outside, but the food is totally worth it! The quesillo is delicious - tangy onions and cool crema in the classic baggie. Loved the tostones and cheese (green sauce was fantastic) and the maduros were so good. Really great finding some of the traditional drinks - cacao, chicha and some of the well-loved juices like tamarind and calala. Loved the nods to nica culture in the decor: the gueguense mask and ideay sign. It felt like going back home on a day when I was particularly homesick. Really appreciated this and I look forward to going again! Support this spot!

Finally, all my Nicaragences in the DMV rejoice!! We have been desperately needing an authentica Nicaraguan food spot in the area. Went for the first time today and the food was absolutely delicious!! Highly recommend.!! 10/10 Sad there weren't any Picos though. It's ok, next time. Bonus that I ran into my primas there. &hearts

Amazing food!! We…read morewent about an hour before closing and surprisingly, there were a lot of other people in line already as well! We didn't know what to expect going in. The line was long but they were very open about why it was taking a while (they wanted to ensure they only took orders they could fulfill and check their food inventory), once we ordered it was very fast! The food was delicious and so well made! The half chicken was what we got and it's alot of food so be ready to eat! The rice, plantains, and yuca are so yummy, highly recommend any of those sides. The sauces are all delicious as well, you can't go wrong. Such a great place to get quality dinner and the seating it plenty! 5/5

El Pollo Rico was my first Peruvian chicken spot. After over 15 years since this experience I've…read morepatronized quite a few different places and ventured back to where the journey began to compare. Spoiler Alert: It's number 1. Though what I really like about the place changed. When I first went all they offered was Chicken, Cole slaw, and fries. In a world of many option I actually thought this sent a message that we are so good we only offer a limited choice that's you will enjoy. Tbf the fries can't compete w McD or Chikfila Waffle fries but they were good. The service counter is modernized and they are efficient and friendly. The layout if the restaurant is still basic like the limited menu they used to have. No frills no gimmicks just good food. Still the same vibe The chicken was still very good. Other places are fairly close but Apollo Rico is just a touch better. The charred seasoning is evident. What tipped the scales for me in comparison to other places I've been is the green sauce. It liked fresh. It wasnt like other places where that has the consistency of ketchup it looked bright green and freshly made vs other places where it seems as if it was poured out a container.

One of my favorite things about going back home is introducing my boyfriend Kyler to the places I…read moregrew up loving, and La Casita was at the very top of my list. I've been coming here for years, and it's one of those places that never disappoints. The food is consistently delicious, the atmosphere is lively, and you always know you're going to leave happy. I'm originally from Honduras, and one of our staple dishes... arguably THE staple dish... is the baleada. A fresh flour tortilla filled with refried beans, cheese, and crema, with the option to add extras like eggs, avocado, or different meats. I knew this had to be where Kyler experienced his very first baleada. To say it was a success would be an understatement. Kyler isn't the most adventurous eater, so getting his stamp of approval is a pretty big deal. He's officially a fan for life! We were there with my mom, and all three of us ordered some variation of a baleada along with pupusas to share. I also had to introduce Kyler to our version of horchata, which is different from the Mexican horchata he was used to. As an added bonus, we happened to visit during the World Cup, and the energy in the restaurant made the experience even more fun. Between the familiar flavors, sharing a piece of my culture with someone I love, and the consistently great food, this meal ended up being one of the highlights of our trip back to Maryland. If you've never had a baleada before, let La Casita be your introduction. You won't regret it.

The decor is super cute and even the coasters had the logo which i thought was a cute touch. I definitely recommend trying the mixta pupusa and the carne asada, both were delicious and full of flavor. This place is always a good choice!
