I came here after reading in The Washington Post that it's one of the best bargain food spots in the DMV. Unfortunately, I must respectfully disagree. The portions are pretty big, but considering the price, it's definitely not the best bargain in the area. Carne Asada de Res ($22) - Carne Asada, rice & beans, tostadas, and fried cheese. The beef was way overcooked--burnt and tough--which's a shame because it's otherwise flavorful. Overcooking the star of the dish like this just doesn't work. On the other hand, the rice and beans were amazing - easily the best I've ever had. Overall, it's nothing special. While the rice & beans were spectacular, it's disappointing that they were also the best part of the dish. That said, the servers were absolutely lovely - extremely friendly and even offered us samples of the drinks. read more

Decent Nicaraguan food. Usually crowded. One of the only things that feel authentic is the Carne Asada Plate. As for the starters, drinks, and else, they don't feel a seasoning or flavor as a real Nicaraguan food. Would still come back anyways. Staff is nice and place is clean. read more

FINALLY a Nicaraguan restaurant in the area! I was so happy I found this place. I ordered the salpicón and it was delicious. My mom, who is a picky, eater got the chancho frito con gallo pinto and really enjoyed it. The portion sizes are generous. The decor is really nice. I am looking forward to coming back! read more

These comments are making me want to revoke people's Nicaraguan card. The food is blah & expensive AF! I literally gave this place a second chance a year later and it was just as bad as the first time. The DMV only has 2 Nicaraguan restaurants that I've seen on google maps and I must say Eda's Latin food in manassas is better than this place but still mid. Since they don't have competition, it feels like they don't try. If you want authentic Nicaraguan food just book that flight to Miami. read more

Soooo happy I found a Nicaraguan restaurant close to DC (thanks to yelp) and even happier after I tried the food and loved it!! Delicious, authentic food served in a warm, casual environment with friendly service. It might not look fancy from the outside, but the food is totally worth it! The quesillo is delicious - tangy onions and cool crema in the classic baggie. Loved the tostones and cheese (green sauce was fantastic) and the maduros were so good. Really great finding some of the traditional drinks - cacao, chicha and some of the well-loved juices like tamarind and calala. Loved the nods to nica culture in the decor: the gueguense mask and ideay sign. It felt like going back home on a day when I was particularly homesick. No comparison to Miami. My husband is from Nicaragua and even he didn't like the food. Too expensive for the small plate of food. Carne asada tasted like fish and they don't sell seafood at all. the service was good. young lady did help out in choosing what we should get. The food was good but they just didn't go together much. the banana leaf did throw me off. it took a while for the food to come out. one thing i would recommend for the restaurant would be to add sauces to the food.i wouldn't come here again just not my type of food. read more

The food wasn't that great overall they were very nasty and we ate there. just because we were well dressed up they charge us $200 for 3 Oder of Carne asada fee drinks 3 item carry out. The location is one worse aria because they don't have a room to park. Sorry very disappointed that they ask all that money for what we ate. Never again it was a ripoff. A hidden gem! Super yummy. The service was excellent and the staff were super helpful. We met Pedro Matamoros, the chef who shared about his passion of using only fresh and natural ingredients to keep consistent taste and flavors for his authentic Nicaraguan plates. They had nacatamales and vigoron which are hard to find locally and were absolutely fantastic.
