There's no reason they have to do anything because of the lack of competitors so they can also overcharge. It has some good things about it. One cool thing is the milkshake and smoothie machine. There's lots of flavors to choose from, and you see it made in front of you. Many people come here for the deli. There's a lot on the big menu. Lots of cheese. Sandwiches are okay but these are small portions. It usually has a salad bar. The selection on this isn't good so it's not recommended. Poor quality produce and it can also smell bad. The prices are very annoyingly high. Good for the fast convenience. It otherwise is only just okay. There's a good choice of organic and vegetarian friendly products.

You have everything I could possibly need ..... and you're open till 11pm. Horray!!! I hate you because I spend ridiculous amounts of money for ridiculously small amounts of goods. Your sodas are too expensive. Your yogurts are too expensive. Your orange juice is too expensive. Your beer is too expensive. Yet through all this, I still return. Almost every day. But I do know that there is a hole in the wall, about the size of a small closet, where a man sits all day with his "closet" door propped open in order to breathe. If you need a quick pack of smokes, a lotto ticket, a cold drink, or just some other random convenient store item...this is your store. There's never a line and it's as convenient as convenience gets. I give this place 5 stars because god bless a man who can sit in a 3x3 room for hours on end and wait for any customer to show up. Walk down North Street and look in between the Dunkin Donuts and Red Sky lounge. If you see a door that looks out of place and just a tad awkward--that's the store.

I think the guy who runs this store makes the whole experience worth it. My girlfriend jokes that everytime i come back from this place I say that he is the nicest dude in the world. I say that because of 3 things: he always checks the eggs when you get them, he noticed that I didn't get the milk because of the expiration date (which was just soon approaching) and got me another one from the back without me saying anything, and he has community photos up on his walls. Giovanni's Market is simply the best choice for Northeastern students. It's cheaper than Wollaston's, Symphony Market, and all of the other nearby convenience stores. Like most people commented, the staff is incredibly welcoming and helpful. The owner has even kept the store open late to satiate my roommate's and my junk food cravings during finals week. You can't find a nicer, more convenient place. I highly recommend shopping at Giovanni's! read more
