I'm incredibly lucky to have checked this place out before the latest lockdowns made travel and…read morerestaurants verboten. I know the term "hidden gem" gets thrown around a lot in food reviews, but Forts ticks all the boxes to earn that title. It's off the beaten path with more of a neighborhood feel than trendy vibe. The relaxed and inviting layout makes you want to hang out with friends (back when that was allowed) with service that was stellar from the moment you walked through the door. We sought this place out on the reputation of its coffees alone, but soon realized how wonderful it was across the board. Everything we had from the menu was delicious. Not just good, but *delicious*. That's an important distinction. We all would've gladly had seconds of the same exact thing we had just ordered. Not to mention, the rotating menu of seasonally inspired dishes meant that it would be impossible to get bored even if you ate here all year round. Finally, there was the coffee. Oh my god, was there coffee. If you're an aficionado then you'll feel like a kid in a candy store here. If you're a newbie to the world of high end coffee then this is where you can try the good stuff while being expertly guided by a very knowledgeable staff. You can't go wrong with coffee at this café. I hope this lovely place survives all the curve balls that 2020 has been throwing at the restaurant industry because I seriously cannot wait to return (once things are able to safely open again) and dive headfirst into those nduja fried eggs.

The hot chocolate was certainly worth it - it's valrohna and basically the best I've ever had that wasn't the very thick Spanish/Italian variety (twss). It was also nice and warming on a crisp day, as were the heaters and thoughtful furry chair liners and blankets in the outside seating area. I was strongly recommended the brew special but actually I think I would have preferred something like my friend had - the chorizo folded eggs i.e. with a little more kick. The brew special is a classic combo of ham, cheese and pesto which I loved years ago but now wouldn't be my first choice. Still it was well executed with beautifully cooked poached eggs on sourdough bread. Our breakfast took a long time to come but the service was otherwise notably excellent - our server was attentive, friendly and helpful consistently, meaning we had constant water top ups, updates on the food situation and were able to get the bill quickly before our parking ran out. She was great and an asset to this nice cafe.

Their menu has a lot to choose from, I've had the eggs florentine and the turkish eggs on a separate occasion. Very delicious and fresh, presumably using top quality ingredients. The atmosphere is pretty neat too, love the cabin-like feel on a cold day. I recommend for breakfast, well done Brew!
