For a motoring amateur like me customer service is a big plus and on the occasions where I've had to go and find some 'thing' for my car the staff have only been to willing to help me find it, even where the item is absent from the shelf they seem keen to run off and see if they can track it down for you. Generally this is the only Halfords I use, if for no other reason than my experiences in other ones have been far from positive.

Halford's are usually located in the middle of nowhere, so unless you're over this side of the river it's not the easiest to get to. It's within the industrial district between Rutherglen and Dalmarnock, but if you've got a car or can get a bus, it's not the worst to locate. Halford's are open later than 9-5 hours, build your bike for you and do free servicing. They had a great sale on this month so I managed to get myself a BEAUTIFUL bike (it really warrants the capital letters). It looks very European and has brown leather seats which I'm excited about! It's also a functional town bike, and comfy to wheel around on. This Halford's had great customer service - the staff were really friendly and I got lots of space to try out various bike models. They were also well stocked and full of accessories, from necessary to peculiar. I was almost tempted to get some streamers, but since I'm not Phoebe from Friends or 5 anymore I refrained. Overall there was loads of equipment, good sales offers, great high quality bikes, service check offers and awesome staff, so I was happy!

Once in store with my mum we had a bit of a browse then approached a female member of staff who was stocking up one of the shelves at the back of the shop. I politely asked her if they had any in store to which she rudely interrupted me and told me that Halfords don't carry things like that and I would have to go to a Ford dealership. I was about to explain that I had seen them online, yet she rudely walked away from me and my mum. She was very rude and didn't seem like she wanted to help at all, so me and my mum headed back out to the car. Once in the car my mum decided to have a look on their website again to see if she could then order the panel clips to the store for another day. Upon doing this she was given the option of click and collect and the estimated time for collection was an hour. Confused and annoyed I headed back into store yet again and spoke to another member of staff who was at the main desk. I explained what I was looking for and that I had seen them online and he was so helpful! He then walked me over to a wall in the store which was FULL of the panel clips I was looking for in all different sizes. The guy was so helpful, he helped me select the correct clips and even offered to come out to the car to help me fit them. I am extremely angry that I spoke firstly to the female staff member because she wasn't even aware that they were in store and had no intention of trying to help me. She was extremely rude and just had a bad attitude overall. If it wasn't for my mum messing about on the Halfords website I was going to drive to a Ford dealership in Glasgow because I was told wrong information and basically hurried out the store because the female wasn't willing to help. I am however thankful that not all of the staff members have the same attitude and that the second member of staff I spoke to was helpful. The store is small and there's not a lot of staff, but they do stock the standard items you would expect, from car parts for basic repairs & general maintenance to bikes, camping and more general car and leisure related items. Occasional there are items that you don't expect (like premixed paint for airbrushes), so it may be worth a good browse. It is located on the exit to the retail park, so it can be a bit difficult to get to, especially by foot as you try to avoid the cars racing to leave after visiting one of the other stores. There is a small (about 8 spaces ?) car park and they do offer fitting of basic parts (ie wiper blades, bulbs, etc) for a small additional charge if you need assistance. For some car parts (wiper blades, bulbs) they have handy guides that can help you choose the right part for your vehicle, however I have sometimes found the guides to be inaccurate, so it's worth double checking if you can. I'm sure that you can get some of the parts for a cheaper price elsewhere, but for convenience of location and opening hours, I've always found it worth paying that little bit extra.

I returned the car to Collins to be told there is a leak from the coolant system and will probably need a new part. On explaining there was no leak prior to the service on my car which they conducted and the fault must be with them damaging the part, they denied all. "It's just coincidence", I was told. No offer of repair to make things right. A poor show or now show of the customer is always right.
