In March 2021, we signed a contract with BRW Construction to replace our wooden deck with Trex and…read moreredo our paver patio. The renderings that were given to us by Eric (owner) were everything we wanted, so we were very excited to get our project underway. According to Eric, the construction would take about 2-3 weeks to complete and according to the contract it would be completed by August 1. Demolition started at the beginning of July and once construction began, it was clear that the project wouldn't be done by August 1. The crew came about once or twice a week and worked for at most 4 hours a day. Countless items had to be redone due to errors by the crew, which furthered the delays. Eric was on site a couple of times, but his son Brandon was the project manager. Brandon never communicated when there were issues or when they would be coming/going. The worst part, however, was the lack of communication from Eric. Weeks would go by without hearing anything about the progress of our project. Phone calls, texts and emails all went unanswered. Finally, on August 12, we received a form letter, in response to an email, stating that they were short staffed and would be working on combining resources in order to minimize delays and complete projects in a timely manner. We were just looking forward to the project being done, but the final project is far from perfect, or what we expected-boards don't line up, pavers are uneven and covered with hardened sand. We contracted for the deck and patio to be a specific size but it was constructed at a smaller size, without ever discussing the size change. Rather than giving us the product that we contracted for, the amount for the difference was deducted from our final invoice. Our project was finally completed the second week of October. There were still some issues, so we had the crew come back to fix things a few times. The deck and patio are not perfect, but we are happy that it is finally done. Throughout the whole process, Eric was a pleasure to work with. It would have been nice if he was on site more often, but we understand that he had other projects going on at the same time. We had read numerous negative reviews about BRW prior to contracting with them, but figured that most people just post negative reviews so we would take them with a grain of salt. Well after our experience, I wish I listened to those reviews so I figured that I would add mine to it. If you choose to contract with BRW, please make sure that you have a fluid timeline and ensure there is language in your contract about what happens if the project isn't done on time.

We contracted BRW in January 2021 to build a 12x19 Trex deck with a 10x10 shed underneath. The shed…read morewas integrated into the deck and built upon the paver patio which was also to be constructed. A rain barrier was to be installed under the deck boards to keep the area below the deck dry. Things didn't go well. After numerous attempts to rework the construction of the patio, rainwater still drains toward the house since the patio is pitched in that direction. And, rainwater remains in the barrier, requiring the manual process of going under the deck and lifting the barrier between the joists to push the water toward the gutter. Overall, the workmanship is below my expectations given the company's "platinum" rating from Trex. Eric was pleasant enough to work with, but his crew wasn't able to deliver the quality promised. I wouldn't recommend them.
