My rear tire wasn't holding air and dropped by to get it fixed. For something even as simple as this, I'm used to having to leave it for several days. Not so here, despite what appeared to be quite a busy operation. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice store with a good selection of gear. They were cool with using my spare tube. I wish I could give 0 stars. They were your typical bike shop that treats and disrespects women. What a waste of space, the owner couldn't even look at me in the eye nor would even try to talk to me like a human. It is possible he had an off day, but then don't do this and create a horrible experience for a very interested person. I went to Great Northern Cycle and Ski and had a fantastic experience. They even had both men and women working there and I appreciated the care and willingness to help. Glacier cyclery may be in lonely planet, but the next edition should consider removing them. read more

I had a spectacular experience both in store and after purchase follow up. I neglected to try on my purchase while in the store. I contacted them via email and they worked with me for returning and shipping out a larger size. They also had replenished stock for an item I had seen while in the store but not in size needed. They were so easy to work with and I was able to purchase that as well. What was most impressive was the customer service. Although this transaction was very short, several emails were exchanged during this process. All were replied to in timely fashion. Again, this was a short and small transaction but three different staff members at one time or another worked to complete the task. Great handoffs between staff! This place was def 5 stars. We rented 2 mountain bikes for the weekend and were helped by a totally cool dude named Racer. He was upbeat and extremely helpful. Got us fitted on our bikes with helmets then took the time to also chat about the trails we had in mind riding & giving us suggestions. They deserve 10 stars! customer service was above and beyond what I would have expected. Zack was so very helpful in finding me the right set up for my Jeep as I have a swing tailgate and tire. not only did he configure it and determine the right rack, but also endured the hot day to help take my old rack off (required removing the tire) and adjusting the rusted metal bracket, remounted and then set the new rack. This was not an easy or short project. I love my new set up, I am so thankful for this shop and the time they took to help me find the right rack for my Jeep!! read more

We walked into Glacier Cyclery with very little knowledge about possible biking opportunities around Whitefish - and walked out with more options than we could have explored in a month. The guys working there first fitted us for our bikes - they had already picked out the best choices based on our heights and then made seat and handlebar adjustments for us - then helped me find a new helmet and offered to install a bike rack on our rental car. When they realized the rental would not hold a bike rack they gave us lessons on how to dissemble the bikes enough to fit them in the back of the car (and then reassemble). While paying we mentioned that we didn't know where to pedal, and they quickly brought out map after map and highlighted trails for us, explaining which were the most difficult and the most beautiful. It was our first day in Whitefish and we were blown away by how helpful and kind they were. The store also had an amazing selection of biking clothes, including custom bike shirts with Glacier National Park and Glacier Cyclery logos. In terms of customer service, these guys go above and beyond - one day as we pulled our bikes out of the back of our car in Glacier National Park a man wearing a Glacier Cyclery shirt came up to us and said he recognized us from the shop - then put our bikes together for us and checked to make sure we were prepared for our trip before he saw us off at the trailhead. I imagine I will henceforth be disappointed by all other bike rental agencies! read more

The "guys" here are all very friendly and knowledgeable. The last few years I've made a habit of coming in while visiting family and had great conversations about bikes and cycling in Portland and Montana, rehabing injuries etc. It's always been a nice way to spend an hour out of the snow. Their shop is clean and stocked with a nice selection of bikes and all the little goodies you expect. They also carry indoor fitness cycles and stuff as well for use during the really crappy weather. It's become my bicycle fix away from home, and if I'm ever looking for another bike and I'm in Montana, I'll be headed here. read more

We bought a new bike here over the summer and we were super pumped on their service! The guys here know everything there is to know about bikes and the local trails, and also... which bike you should think about using on all those trails! (seems common sense, but you never know in Montana...) They do full tune ups on your bikes, rentals, sales, they've got a bunch of cool accessories too. Just recently, they've taken over running the cross country ski shack over on the Whitefish golf course in the winters too. We rented several bikes from Glacier Cyclery to ride up the Going to the Sun Road, and had an excellent experience! The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable and the Kona Rove NRB bikes were in excellent condition and were well-outfitted with racks, bottle cages, and flat kits. They were not just low-end rental bikes! One of our party members rented a bike from another place nearer to the park, and for the same rental price got a significantly cheaper (retail price) and lower quality bike. Highly recommend these guys and will use them again in the future if we return to Glacier! read more

Best bike shop in Whitefish. Glacier Cyclery can service any need on two wheels. The owners are top notch--both as people and in bicycle knowledge. They are also amazing at hiring wonderful staff members, who know their stuff, and who are also genuine, helpful people. They understand customer service, won't make you wait to be helped, and will always deal with you honestly. They have bikes for any budget, but are also versed in the very latest technology. Their mechanics can work on bikes of any era, and their charges are reasonable. Its simply the best bike shop I know of, you really can't miss. read more

I rented a road bike here for my trip to Glacier National Park and was very happy with my experience. I found out when I arrived that rentals all come with a helmet and saddle bag with tools and spare inner tube, which is super convenient. They also rented me a rack for my car and helped put it on. Overall service was great and the employees were very enthusiastic. The bike itself was a beautiful Giant brand road bike that rode great, clearly well maintained . Glacier Cyclery has a strictly enforced 48 hour *no-refund* cancellation policy for bike rentals. They will, however, take payment over the phone before telling you this and refuse to give you a refund if you need to cancel within 48 hours of the reservation. I made my reservation within 48 hours of the reservation time anyway, so it would not have mattered regardless. The reservation I made was supposedly non-refundable. I even called 24 hours in advance to cancel a reservation but was refused. 24 hours is plenty of time to re-rent the bikes this time of year. They offered half my money back if I promised not to call my credit card company and file a claim. Also, they are closed on Sundays but will charge you for 3 full days if you want to keep the bike past 5PM on Saturday; Saturday, Sunday and Monday. This was a very poor customer experience for a first time customer. I never even touched one of their bikes and feel like I got robbed by a bike shop. If you're looking for a Mountain Bike, just go down the street to Great Northern. They only take a 5% deposit if you cancel within the 48 hour window, which is totally fair. Other bike rental options in the area are even more lenient than that. read more

Definitely will not be using this bike shop. Spoke with Kyle over the phone who I believe is the manager and he was extremely rude and short. I'm not very knowledgeable about bikes as I'm just getting started but I was told by a bike professional when asking advice exactly what to ask the bike shop for. Kyle at Glacier Cyclery quizzed me like I was an idiot and he could sense I wasn't sure. Arrogant attitude doesn't make me want to visit your bike shop and I'm SO GLAD I didn't go into the store because I will NOT be using this bike shop ever. I'd rather order online what I need and use service as any of the other shops in the valley. read more

This is a little late but we were here in sept 2011. We wanted to mountain bike around the area and busted a chain. I don't do my own maintenance and called up. They said they could fix it that day and to bring it in. When I brought in my bike, the guy was able to replace a chain link rather then the whole chain, saved me some money and we were able to bike as we pleased. Super friendly and helpful. read more

I was in Whitefish over the summer to ride a portion of the Tour Divide. I didn't want to ship my mtn bike, so I decided to rent one along with a couple of bob trailers for my friends and I. The bike was perfect....not a single problem over the 5 day trip. Of my 3 friends that rode their own bikes, 2 had mechanical problems. Other than the fact the trailers carry more gear than my body can haul up a hill, the trailers worked awesome. I would highly recommend a rental from this shop. I recently purchased a new touring bike from Glacier Cyclery, where my pre- and post-purchase service was over the top. Before the purchase, the shop owner spent time with me discussing what type of bike I should by. Once I decided on a bike, I was measured on my existing bicycles (I had two: a mountain and a road bike) to determine the size of the touring bike. After the purchase, I had a custom fitting. Along with that, one of the employees brought in his wife's bicycle so I could road test the Jones' Bar on the bike. I ended up going for the Jones' bar, and I also got a trade-in for the offer they made on my mountain bike. I've known and done business with these guys ever since I moved here, yet on this purchase, I felt like a brand new customer.
