We stayed here for two nights, before and after our recent trip to Heron in the middle of a long…read morevacation in Australia. We selected this particular property because it has a washer and dryer in each unit, and we knew that we would need to do some laundry at this juncture of our holiday.
As can be surmised from the hotel name, these are actually apartment units, not just studio hotel rooms. We booked the two bedroom unit, which was quite spacious with a large living room, a full kitchen, and a dining table. There was a single shared bathroom with shower but no tub. The master bedroom had a queen bed and the the second bedroom had two twin beds, so this was perfect for our family of four. There was a nice balcony with a table and chairs as well.
The kitchen was fully equipped, but we balked at doing any cooking because there was an ominous warning about the expensive consequences of triggering the fire alarm. We focused mostly on doing our laundry. The laundry units are compact sized, so it took three loads to finish what would normally be a single load in our machine at home. The wash cycle was unexpectedly long, but we accomplished our task. It was nice that they provided laundry detergent that was suitable for the size of these machines - we brought our own but it probably would have made too much suds.
The living area and each of the bedrooms have separate climate controls, which is a big plus and certain improves the efficiency of heating or cooling the apartment. The TV, however, was kind of small and because it was set against one wall and the couches were across the room, it didn't make for the easiest of viewing.
As this is not a traditional hotel, the reception desk is not staffed past 7:00pm during the week. For one of our stays we arrived after they closed, but fortunately they have a lockbox out front where late-arriving guests can retrieve their keys. On the weekends I believe that they close much earlier than 7:00. The folks at the desk in the morning were very cheerful and helpful, especially when we weren't able to find an Uber driver on Sunday morning and they were able to call a cab that arrived in just minutes.
Breakfast was an interesting experience, as there is no hotel kitchen and staff to prepare meals for the guests. Instead, there is a large refrigerator with milk, juice, eggs, cheese, meat, bread, etc. and a couple of hot plates with which you prepare your own hot meals. They do have an automatic pancake machine that is pretty nifty. You clear your own tables and load the dishwasher yourself. Even though it required a little bit more work than your typical hotel breakfast, we actually enjoyed the experience thoroughly.
