To explain, I'm having a destination wedding in just a few weeks and decided to DIY my makeup. I searched for makeup lessons in the Seattle area and was really excited when I found out that LiSun offers bridal makeup lessons. This was a terrific investment because learning tips and tricks from the master is going to last me for years and years and not just for the one day! LiSun reviewed all my tools, skincare and makeup and looked through ingredients in my products and made appropriate recommendations to make sure that my makeup doesn't look just flawless but also camera ready! She helped me plan my palette and bridal makeup look based on my inspiration photos and my wedding theme. I am so grateful to have her keen eye and advice as a true professional MUA. In terms of the lesson she really explained the steps clearly and let me do a lot of hands on learning in terms of the makeup application. She also has awesome tips and tricks for "bulletproof" makeup so that the makeup really stays and doesn't go anywhere! She made a lot of excellent recommendations for what makeup and tools I could use, and I bought some high quality makeup brushes from her that I expect to have and use for a long time. What's even more amazing is that after the lesson she really took the time to email me a list of all the products and tools she recommended during the lesson, along with links to places where I could buy it. She let me know that I can send her photos as I practice so that she could keep giving me feedback over email. She helped take so much guesswork out of this process for me and with practice I'm feeling more and more confident that my makeup is going to look fabulous on my big day! It was my first time getting a lash lift and tint and absolutely thrilled with the result. I really appreciated LiSun's attention to cleanliness. Being in healthcare I can't help but be super careful and worried about cleanliness, and I appreciated how she would always perform hand hygiene with hand sanitizer before touching my face/lashes and moving onto the next step. The first thing I noticed was how kind she was and how comfortable she made me feel. It was fun hearing her story and how she used to be on multiple commercials and movie sets as a makeup artist! I especially liked how she would walk me through each step so that I would know what to expect next, from a warm compress, to removing the towel, to anticipating a bright light, to letting me know that we'd wait at this step for 9mins, etc, I appreciated how she kept me informed with each step. I'm so happy to not have to curl my lashes everyday anymore! The lash lift really helped brighten up my eyes. Having black lashes already, I didn't notice too much with the lash tint with mine, but I definitely could tell that on Niki's lashes (she has blond lashes), the lash tint looked fabulous! Instead of hiring a makeup artist for the photo shooting session, I called around to find an artist to give me a lesson. It's in June, a wedding peak month, so after calling so many makeup artists recommended online, Chimi was the only one who called me back. I booked with her for a 3-hour lesson. We met at a conference room in her apartment complex. When I arrived, she had prepared everything and set up everything we needed. Before the lesson, she texted me to bring my own makeup and skin care products to the lesson, so I also brought my own. She carefully reviewed what I had used, and she gave me her advice on those products based on my skin conditions. We started from the basic skin care routine as getting well-conditioned skin is the foundation of pretty makeup. Then she applied makeup on my half face to explain to me all the techniques. After she finished my half face, I followed her instructions to apply the other half face. I am not a crafty person, so I kind of had a hard time on detailed eye makeup. Chimi was able to use a technique that simplified the process but achieved the same result, which was amazing. She also went over my current makeup products to tell me which one didn't work for me and which one I should use more. The advice helped me get rid of unnecessary makeup things but keep the essential things. We actually used more than 3 hours as planned. I was a bit anxious, but Chimi told me not to worry as she's happy to extend longer time to make sure that I learned what I needed. We had lots of fun doing makeup together, and I did learn a good makeup lesson. I am now confident to apply my own makeup for the photo day!

I always thought I had oily skin, but after her professional analysis, I realized I have healthy normal skin. We started with a basic skincare routine, and then she showed me all the techniques and explained them to me. After she finished half of my face, I followed her instructions and applied the other half of my face. I've always wanted to try European and American-style makeup, and I'm glad Chimi was able to teach me so much about it. I told her early on that I prefer a very natural look and don't feel comfortable in heavy makeup -- and she absolutely delivered. My makeup felt light, effortless, and still completely me... just elevated. It was more beautiful than my daily look, but never overdone. I especially loved what she did with my eyes and lashes. They looked soft and natural, yet defined and stunning in photos. And my hair -- this was huge for me. I don't have a lot of hair and I didn't want to wear a wig on my wedding day. This is a review purely for the bridal hair and makeup trial, have no experience with her in an…read moreactual wedding setting. The main reason I did not go forward with booking with her was because of the haphazard nature of the hair part of the trial. Vian did not part my hair, comb my hair, or use hairspray, and just draped the headpiece on instead of tying it to the hair. She told me the trial is to only get an "idea" of what the hair would look like and made me undo the hairstyle after getting pics so she could get the hair piece and pins back. I was pretty stunned because I paid almost double to include hair in the trial rather than just makeup, so I was expecting to get more than just an "idea", I wanted to see how the hairstyle would stay throughout the day. The end result was messy hair (attached a photo) and my sister who was watching commented after that she could have done a better job. In addition, Vian told me I needed to get a haircut for curtain bangs before the wedding in order for the hairstyle to work. This felt like an excuse, I'd expect her to work with the hair I have and make the best hairstyle possible, not fault me for it not looking good. Afterwards I had a hair and makeup trial with a different artist for the exact same price. At this one, I got a full hairstyle with combing, hairspray, pins that stayed on for the full day and I wasn't told that I needed to cut my hair, and it looked much better. I ended up proceeding with booking this person for the wedding instead. For the makeup, later that day I noticed that there was a smudge on my eyebrow. I checked photos and it was there in the very first photo my sister took of me after the trial was completed. I was surprised Vian didn't notice and fix this and this made me question her makeup skills as well. Style wise the makeup didn't match what I had on my Pinterest board that I showed her -- those had softer, lighter colors but I was given a darker, higher contrast look. To be fair, she asked what lip color I wanted and I told her she could choose because I didn't know (not experienced with makeup). However, the second makeup artist was so much more thorough -- she looked through my Pinterest board and asked things like, "these are all warm toned but this one is cool toned -- do you want warm or cool toned" and was able to distinguish what I liked from that, and I ended up with a look I was much happier with. Perhaps Vian would work better for someone who has a strong idea of what they're looking for, versus someone completely new to makeup (me).

I have been…read morecontemplating getting microblading done on my eyebrows, so I felt this was the perfect time to do so as her studio is located conveniently next to Southcenter mall and she had availability on a free weekend I had. The reasonable price was also very attractive, so I went ahead and booked an appointment about a week in advance. The session took about 2.5-3 hours; the first hour was focused on mapping out my brows to a shape we both liked and shaving/removing the excess eyebrow hairs to clean them up. Then she applied the numbing gel which took about 30 minutes to activate. Finally she got to the microblading process; some parts didn't hurt and some parts hurt quite a bit, but no pain no gain I guess! When she was finished she gave me a mirror to check them out and I was so amazed on how good, clean and natural they looked! Three days later and they're still looking amazing. She advised me on the aftercare and gave me a little kit for it which included a healing oilment I have to apply three times a day for the next week. As a mom who works full time, it's hard to get in those self care appointments on days off while having to care for a child. Gim is more than okay with me bringing my daughter to my appointments, which I appreciate more than she knows.
