I was recently sick in the back of one of these taxis. I immediately apologised and told the driver that I would pay for the cleaning. He pulled over again and said that we wouldn't move until he was sure I was ok. As I wasn't sure it wouldn't happen again, I opted to get out of the car and walk the final part of the journey (at least a 15 minute walk). Before he left he spoke to his manager. I also spoke to her and gave my email address, asking that I get sent the invoice once the car had been cleaned. I paid my fare and got out. Less than five minutes later I got a call from the office saying that my payment had failed. When I explained I didn't know how they said that the cost was £71 ( original fare was £31) and said that they had already added the cleaning fee to the fare price but until that point no one had told me, or the driver, this. We agreed the driver would come back to take the payment but I explained that I wasn't home yet and I would be there shortly. Five minutes later the office called me again and without any greeting on the phone immediately asked if someone was coming to pay the driver. I once again explained that I was on my way but I had got out of the car 15 minutes away from the address they sent the driver to. I did eventually get home and meet the driver to make the payment. He could not have been any nicer or patient with me and was so nice about the whole situation but the office staff lacked any kind of empathy, sympathy or patience and made an already awful and embarrassing situation so much worse. The driver treated me with so much respect and patience but the office were so rude and demeaning. I usually swear by this company but I definitely wouldn't be recommending them any time soon. read more

I was in Glasgow doing a two day course at the deaf Connection. Tuesday 28. November - Wednesday 29. November 2018. A taxi was booked, I waited for half an hour on the Tuesday, before the taxi turned up. Then last night, I was waiting about two hours, but never turned up. I phoned myself, asked what happened to the taxi. The office staff member asked, if I was looking for a taxi. I explained that I was nearly there for 2 two hours, he then just hung up on me. They were told on both occasion, that I was going to Glasgow Central Station for a train back home to Greenock. There was to be "Storm Diana" making an appearance. I had nasty thoughts that the trains would be cancelled, and me stranded in Glasgow. This company should have their Operators Licence revoked, if this is the way they treat passengers, especially visitors to Glasgow. read more

Worst service EVER! Rude to customers and the driver, when he finally arrived, was the most miserable man I've ever met and a total ar*ehole. He refused to take us from Bridgeton station to the SECC because he would have had to "get on the motorway" Pretty lame. We got the train in the end (had we known how easy that was, we wouldn't have bothered with the taxi). Taxis only have one job to do, and these lot can't even seem to do that! Glasgow Private Hire is one of the east end's biggest private taxi firms. My experiences with them have ranged from the good, the bad, to the downright terrible. On an average journey, though, they're decent enough. Many of my bad experiences have been when I was younger and the drivers tried to take advantage, or on a Saturday night when they're on the prowl rather than taking their designated pick ups. It all depends on the drivers. As a general rule, if you're good to them, they'll be fine to you. A fare from the city centre to Baillieston costs about £9, which is not too shabby. They are also excellent if you're looking for a ride from the Fort, as they always have lots of drivers in the area. At the weekends, it's a little more trying. If you're looking for someone to pick you up on Sauchiehall Street at 3am, you can forget it. If you're lucky and use a little bit of tact (I usually request pick-up from Bath St), you never know. Overall not too bad, the people on the phone are nice enough but may well get sassy with you if you give them any lip! read more

Worst service ever, operator woman hung up when I asked where my taxi was, and hung up again after laughing at me saying bye, absolute joke, tracked the taxi as it left my area and went 5 miles away, then the app said that the order was done when the taxi never even showed, terrible service, network private hire are loads better, at least they send the taxi and don't moan about it. read more

Under NO circumstances use this taxi firm! My original contact with Lynn was extremely helpful and made me feel quite comfortable about booking with them, but, this is where any form of customer service ended. Taxi booked for 7th July to take us from East End of Glasgow to Edinburgh Airport. Arrived 1 hour late, making the journey to the airport totally stressful for us, four adults travelling with a baby, and also for the driver who had been totally messed around by the office sending him all over the place on other hires before getting to us. We put this down to a bad experience and, having booked the return journey for early hours this morning, assumed that everything would go according to plan, but no chance of that. Our flight from Iceland was delayed by 1 hour and we 'phoned the taxi firm from Iceland to let them know about the delay and that we would be arriving at 1.30 a.m. When we landed there was a problem due to a lack of baggage handlers, so, as it was going to take a bit longer to collect our luggage, we 'phoned the firm at 1.44 a.m. to let them know only to be told that the taxi had been and gone! We asked them to radio the driver and ask him to come back and were told he was already at Coatbridge, how he managed that if he was picking us up at 1.30 is beyond me. They said it would take about 40 minutes to get back to us and asked if we wanted to do this, which we did as we required a 6 seater vehicle and had no alternative number for a vehicle to accommodate all of us plus the luggage, car seat, buggy etc, although the advice of the call handler was to 'phone an Edinburgh taxi! After waiting 40 minutes we 'phoned again to find out how far away the car was only to be told it would be at least another 30 minutes at which time we told them to cancel it. Fortunately with the help of a very accommodating taxi driver at the airport we finally managed to get a car big enough to accommodate us all. Having just 'phoned the firm to complain and asking to speak to a manager, I was originally told that they were very busy on a Friday and there was no one in authority to take my complaint. However, someone "in authority" did speak to me and it would appear that after a certain distance there is no contact with the driver, so they would not have been able to contact our original driver to ask him to come back but no mention of this was made in our conversations with the call handler, although his suggestion that we 'phone an Edinburgh taxi should have been a clue! The individual I spoke to on the 'phone today was totally unconcerned that we had been messed about on both journeys, or that we were travelling with a baby. Surely if they are offering a service to and from airports they should have radio contact with the drivers for circumstances such as ours! 15.01.16 read more

The rating is based on the service I received from the controller when I phoned to book a taxi. After an enjoyable day at celtic park I requested numbers of local taxi firms from the reception staff. The 2nd number I phoned was Glasgow Private Hire and was told it would be a 15 minute wait to which I agreed. After 15 minutes I phoned back to be told it was on its way and it still never appeared after I phoned a further 2 times then after. After 40 minutes and 20 minutes before our train was departing I phoned yet again to be told by a different controller that they could not tell me when my taxi would be arriving and that I shouldn't have been told it would be 15 minutes in the first place. I explained that we had a train to catch and we had been waiting over 40 minutes to which he replied blame celtic for playing on a Sunday. We missed our train and ended up having to get a bus back to Perth as we would of had to wait another 2 hours. Furious with this taxi firm, unreliable and rude and I am baffled how they manage to function as a company if they have no schedule for their drivers. Not surprisingly I definately won't be using this firm again on my next trip to Glasgow. read more
