Ok, so have you ever been in the centre of Glasgow and you need to get something for a dose of greenfly on the plant your Grandma gave you before she died? No? Well that was what was on my mind this afternoon when I decided to type 'garden' into Yelp - Glasgow Hydroponics is the first thing that pops up. Everything you need for indoor plants and hydroponics - smashing I thought, exactly what I need and only a couple of minutes walk away. So, I mosey on in. Now, I never thought it was possible to feel like a complete criminal just by walking into a shop - but now I know better. There were a few folks already there - who went silent, turned and stared at me. For what seemed like a lifetime. The guy working there was pleasant enough and was quick to point out that EVERYTHING they stock is completely organic. Given that I just want greenfly on a succulent dead (and I've tried a couple of old remedies to no avail), I told him I wasn't that bothered as long as it worked. Now, as he went to get the stuff, I had a better look around. You can't move for compost, heat lamps and a huge variety of unlabled bags and bottles. Ahh. The penny dropped. Hard. Like the tractor tyre in Can You Take on Yelp's Obstancle Course With AG Fitness (see other review). And if I hadn't clicked by this point, the rather potent smell coming from the other customers (along with their rather glackit expressions) certainly helped. A couple of quid later and I practically ran out of the shop. Never to return. Ever. read more

Bought my 1st hydroponics kit from Glasgrow yesterday. Steveie and Jordan guided me very well. Obviously many years of experience! Took great trouble to see that my Amazon aeropinics kit arrived safely as apparently many are damaged in transit from the supplier. Patient and knowledgable help with nutrients, water assessment, and other bits needed. Could not have wished for better! read more

I have been growing food for my family in a polytunnel since we moved to our farm 5 years ago. I dropped into glasgrow to enquire about changing some of my beds from soil to hydroponic as I am tried of weeding the soil beds. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and the prices were as cheap as you can get online, and certainly much cheaper than other hydroponic shops in the area. Ive taken advice from the staff and started to convert some of my beds to clay pebble hydroponic systems. Im hoping that weeds will be unable to root amongst the clay but time will tell. I see a lot of bad reviews from this place and I dont understand why. The staff couldnt have been more helpful or genuinely interested in helping me, and there was certainly no smell of drugs as previous reviews suggest. The only thing I saw about drugs was a sign on the wall telling people that "anyone asking about growing cannabis will be asked to leave"! And as for value for money, they cannot be beaten, the prices are matched to the prices of online, with the added bonus of specialist advice when you purchase. Top shop 5/5 :D read more

Brilliant customer service along with a great variety of stock at sensible prices, staff are very well clued up on the products and know exactly what they are talking about! Been using the shop for over 10 years and long may it continue. Ive seen other shops trying to compete and be the same but they will never quite be like the one and only Glasgrow that has been around for over 20 years. 5 star brilliant guys.. read more
