I used to feel like this garden centre was a second home and I felt at one amidst the bracken and shrubs in the green house. My Grandparents used to take me and my brother here when we were young and I can remember going pretty much every other day. Quite bizarre now I think about it, as they only had a tiny garden. This place is huge and you can get everything you could ever imagine for a garden, gnomes, compost, plant pots, you name it, it's all here. So if you're green fingered then head down to Rouken Glen Garden Centre to pick up a plant or two and maybe even some tips from the other plant fanatics. read more

Is there anything more exciting that wondering round a garden centre? Yes, lots of things. In fact anything! But that's not the point! As far as garden centre's go Rouken Glen is one of the best. I'm not a big plant lover because they require care and attention and I am too busy caring for and attending to myself but, they don't just have plants at Rouken Glen! There is also a large gift shop which sells all manner of randomness from vases and candles to jewelry and mugs. The pleasant little coffee shop sells some yummy cakes and light lunch items. When I go to visit my wee 89 year old Granpa I take him to this coffee shop and he flirts with all the old ladies, sweet and disgusting in equal measures! My favorite thing about Rouken Glen is the Christmas section; it is a magical winter wonderland! I particularly like the outdoor Christmas light section, a little wonder around here is a great way to get you in the festive mood! read more

A fitting Garden Centre for the greatest park in Glasgow, Rouken Glen has the USP of not only selling plants, weedkiller, garden furniture and birdseed, but some of the most wonderfully tacky ornaments and trinkets you ever could see. Personal favourites of mine were door signs with peppered with lame, mildly comic phrases, and boxes and boxes of fake plastic fruit. There's loads and loads of tat, along with what to be honest seems a fairly terrible cafe, but since many of the centre's customers are elderly, a porcelain cat with neon eyes and a nice warm cuppa are just exactly what the doctor ordered. There is still plenty of goods that are of high quality, most notably a few outdoor gas-powered barbeques that were absolute beasts, going up in price from £50 to 300 big ones for a contraption that could reduce a whole cow to a pile of smoking, charred remains in minutes. read more

Never did I think that merely a month into living in Glasgow that I would have reviewed not just one but two Garden Centres. But, here we are. I frequent Rouken Glen Park quite often, and found myself in need of a pot for my basil plant, so I popped into the garden centre. Well, what wonders did my eyes behold! All manner of unnecessary tchotchkes with not even a tangential relationship to gardening! A tatty cafe! And, set amongst all this--a plethora of horticultural paraphernalia! This place is enormous, certainly able to give Dobbies a run for their money. And of course they are not a chain, and don't we all feel better giving our money to a local business over a soulless corporation? This place was perfect (as I think garden centres are meant to be) for browsing, and then eventually picking up the one thing you came in for (and maybe a pair of slippers, a set of fairie lights and a pot of locally made jam). read more

It is nice place, but bit cluttered and all over the place. Felt this place needing a revamp, and to laid out a bit better. I enjoyed looking through the fishes, it looks bit busy and I noticed the cafe area have been upgraded, and it looks nice, but it is a shame that they did not upgrade the whole store! read more

ONLINE SERVICES I ordered an item online straight from the garden centre. Eight days later no item and no email to even confirm my purchase. Very disappointed as it was a present for someone. I rang them and spoke to a very pleasant gentleman who aplogised and refunded my money immediately. He said the item would be in the next day as it was out of stock but it was all too late. I feel when I purchased the item they should have at least contacted me immediately and informed it was out of stock. I would not expect this lack of communication from any online supplier so will not be using them again. read more

The store could be laid out a bit better but other than that it is ok - passes an hour and its a good place to retreat if it starts raining while you are in the park! They usually have good bargains on books. The also have a nice selection of christmas decorations. As well as garden items they have products for pets and gift items such as mugs, candles, etc. There cafe is fine for a cuppa and a cake. read more
