I like this local spot. It's got a lower basement space, complete with bar, which we immediately flocked to in the hopes of grabbing a seat. Luckily, in spite of being a Saturday, we managed to nab a table and jostled in amongst a number of jolly regulars. It seems like a happy pub, and certainly wasn't alienating to new folk. I like the smoker cage system, where you can nip out of the emergency exit. Weirdly, this emergency space locks you in, since there's a gate with a padlock just outside, so you can quite easily become trapped if the door shuts behind you - just a warning. Happily there were always plenty of people about to let you back in! The bar man seemed to struggle a touch, but he was friendly, and they're a Sam Smiths so that already means it's a good shout. Can't really comment on price as I only drank soft drinks at this stage, but all in all I'd be happy to revisit when I'm next in town! read more

As I didn't have any change, I turned the offer down. The place has many corners and rooms with seating everywhere. We came here fir beer so I don't know how the food is. This has a vast footprint, considering how small it appears at street level. Loads of seating through the back as well as in the basement bar area. Price-wise it's not as cheap as some Sam Smith's but, for a SOHO bar it's practically giving the beers away. Nice interior, good staff & all the alcoholic options you'd expect from the brewery chain. read more

It can be quite tough to find a pub during lunchtime in a crowded area such as this. However here the dinner area downstairs was almost empty at 12:00. Fish'n'chips was very good, just the right size, texture and taste. Bitter suited the food very well. And for dessert: lovely Imperial Stout at the upstairs bar. Perfect! Once again, a solid combo of excellent beers with good food at a Sam Smith pub. read more

Not sure why it's called Glasshouse Stores but it's on the right street. I just love the Sam Smith pubs in London. They're the only place I know that you can buy a round of four beers for less than a tenner. The decor at the Stores is old fashioned and, as you'd expect, it's pretty much always packed, given the location and prices. Having said that, you can usually get a table and the acoustics are sympathetic enough to allow you to have a good chat with friends rather than having to shout over obnoxious cityboys. There's an interesting table for some such game at the top of the stairs. I'm making it my mission to not only find out what it is, but to play it at some point. read more

You can't get a pint for cheaper in Soho as it's supplied directly by Sam Smiths Beer. I showed up and made friends immediately with 7 people. Meant to have one pint, ended up having 6 hours of fun playing scrabble. My first brit pub experience and the best. read more

The name does not make sense, but the atmosphere inside made sense to me. My companion and I rolled in here last Friday night to have a few drinks before we headed to Amalfi for dinner. This pub has a great decor on the inside yet rather small around the bar area - I did get elbowed in the rib cage a few times by non-descript passer-bys. Samual Smith pub - everyone knows what that means - smiles all around. Actually was in Soho the very next afternoon and would have stopped in here had it not been too early. This isn't my favourite Sam Smiths pub in town, but it is one of the better ones. Nice enough staff, interesting decor and a nice little outside bit for a cheeky smoke while you have a beer. There's a billiards table, interesting old London photos and little sneaky tables dotted about the place. Alas, we did find that our quiet evening was interrupted by a group and pissed-up chavs, but one of them uttered the words I'll eat you for breakfast, even though I've dropped more lines than Tetris and after giggling about that all night, I'm still pondering about what exactly that meant. Oh, and the loos smell like hamster cages. I don't know why. read more

A sanctuary in the madness of Soho! After a busy day round Soho, my friend showed me this gem of a pub. Sam Smith's range of beer is pretty good (love the stout), and it's great to have a nice traditional feeling pub with nigh-on village pub atmosphere. So many pubs in Central London just don't feel pubby with massive open-plan spaces, which makes this pub all the more special. It's a little small, but for a Sunday afternoon stop-off, it was a lovely quiet space. Maybe my opinion will change if I come back here on a Friday or Saturday night, but until then, 4 stars! ...I'll be back. read more

Really enjoyed myself here. Got there early enough to beat the crowds (we were downstairs by ourselves for about half an hour before the stampede rolled in). Budget-friendly boozing (especially given the area) and played an excellent game of Billiards upstairs which is rumored to be the only table in all of SoHo. Although this pub is nothing special inside it's unpretentious and serves cheap beer. Far better value than many of the rip -off pubs in Soho it also serves OK food and is frequently packed on Friday evenings. It has a warren like basement and also backs out onto a small courtyard that is pleasant to sit in during the summer although that's more for the comparative peace and quiet than the unremarkable surroundings. read more

Popped into the Glasshouse Stores for a couple of afternoon beverages this week and was pleasantly surprised. The pub is a nice break from the craziness of most places in Soho, the bar staff are friendly, the local propped up at the bar throw a bit of banter about and the booze is cheap for London prices. There is a cozy little booth near the front that served us well for an afternoon of nattering over a bevvie or two. I like the traditional-style decor, the laid-back atmosphere and the house white wine was nice. One of the better pubs in Soho. read more

Teeny little pub - great beer at excellent prices, but not good for food. Staff seemed efficient enough, and a bar billiards table provided some entertainment, even if it was somewhat tilted. Great place for a cheeky pint before the commute home, but not big enough for large groups. read more

Very friendly pub on Brewer St. Sam Smith's beer. Ancient decor. The licensees are very friendly, and they have a constant stream of bar staff all of whom are characters in their own right. The hard core regulars sit at the bar area just to the left of the entrance (they call it the "office"), and often do a lot of crossword and other puzzles in the afternoons. Can get very crowded in the evenings as the luvvies from the media companies pile in for a cheap post work drink. Not at all trendy, mainly a beer drinkers' pub. Typical of Sam Smith's London pubs. For a quiet refuge from Regent Street or shopping this pub is ok - the staff are a bit crazy and the pub is slowly decaying but it serves a good selection of Sam Smiths beer and I've never failed to get a table. Apparently they do food, but I've never seen anyone eat or order it so it may be fictional! If you haven't been to a Sam Smiths pub before you can expect beer that is cheaper than the average in the area but no brands that you'll recognise. read more

What a lovely pub! My friends and I ended up in an awesome little pit area below the billiards table, where two tables, a banquette and a few stools had been stashed at the bottom of the stairs next to the back door. Sure we had people squeezing past to get outside, but it was decently quiet down there and it was the perfect little nest for my group. The door leads to a little enclosed courtyard, not the street, so the traffic coming and going through the door was just the occasional group of smokers, which meant that it was pleasant little respite from the normal suffocation of a crowded Soho pub on a Friday night. I'm a sucker for good, kind service, and one of the things that sold me on The Glasshouse Stores was the way the staff reacted to a rowdy customer harassing one of the ladies working the bar. The woman at the bar walked past the gentleman and made eye contact, and he did not acknowledge her so she came over to serve us. He started in with the "EXCUUUUUSE ME! EXCUUUUUUUUUSE ME!" because he had apparently wanted to order something after all, and she patiently explained that she had walked by and made eye contact, ready to serve him, but he had ignored her. This escalated for a few moments (there WAS finger-wagging-in-yo'-FACE to be sure), and he ended up loudly calling her an idiot. The bar maid stormed off the floor, nearly in tears. Her colleagues immediately sprang to her defense, asked the gentleman if he had called her an idiot, and promptly escorted him out of the pub and went to check on their co-worker. I have worked a crappy service job where I was expected--nay, required!--to suck it up and TAKE IT when customers were abusive, but the quickness with which this woman's colleagues jumped in to defend her was extremely impressive and the management should be terrifically proud of their staff. So, good atmosphere, GREAT staff, and all-around wonderful night. read more

I have been to this pub several times in the last few years, mainly with works parties, which have always been good, pleasant staff and a great atmosphere..... however this all changed last night by the severely rude barman that was running it last night. Two from our party were drinking soda water (one was driving and one was a little unwell) but that didn't stop the barman for making rude remarks about it. I'm not sure what we had done to warrant such a reaction from him but every-time he walked past us he told us to shut up, stop swearing (?!) and to buy a proper drink, which mystified us as the rest of our party WERE drinking 'proper' drinks! Sorry, but I do not expect to be abused for the choice of drink I buy. We were constantly stared down aggressively by the barman's friends when ever we came to the bar or left to go to the toilet. One actually made an aggressive gesture which I thought ridiculous as he was wearing a biker jacket and cycing shorts! He would falldown if someone sneezed on him. Eventually we had enough and decide to leave... and we were met by 'good, you are finally going, take you soda water with you' and more unintelligible verbal abuse by the barman and his 'friends'. This is totally unacceptable especially as we had gone there for a quiet drink and a meeting. My friends and myself will certainly not be back and I will not book our Christmas parties with them in future. I will also be contacting the brewery about it. No laughing, talking, "swearing" or drinking. Even if you find yourself dying of thirst, avoid at all costs! read more

A great Samuel Smiths pub, super cheap and great location. Downstairs opens up for food, they have a decent menu of British treats, pies and the like as well as sandwiches and baguettes. Frequented by an arty crowd from the RA, this place is always busy. Seating is fairly limited and the downstairs only opens at night so if you want to be sitting with your drink then arrive early. There's a good pool table here as well. It's always to find somewhere in the heart of Soho where a pint will set you back a mere £1.80! Great stuff. read more

beers good, but the food is NOT recommended. there was also a very loopy bartender. my friend had asked if they took cards (they do by the by) and he phoned up someone. did not tell us the outcome until after he served someone else, who to his surprised worked at the bar. a lovely lass did fill us in on the card situation. also, about the food. the toad in teh hole was rock hard. seriously, one could chip their tooth on it. i had the steak and kidney pie which was average. they ran out of the steak and ale pie, as well as the chicken and mushroom. drinks only here friends. read more

I first came to this pub several years ago and on returning to London for a short holiday recently it was on my list of places I simply had to visit, along with the British Museum and the Tate Modern. It's truly a hidden gem, given that it's well hidden (so many pubs/streets in soho just look the same and whenever one marks down the location in one's head, one is usually already drunk). It's very cheap (good old samuel smiths) compared to just about everywhere else in london, coming in at about £1.70 / pint. The lager, ale, and cider is all lovely. Not really a place for chick drinks though. No food but there is a billiards table. read more

Classic Sam Smith pub. Beautiful interiors, cheap beer and crawling with alcoholics of the lowest order. Also smells pretty bad as well as most Sam Smith pubs do. If you're in the area and are desparately in need of a pint at a classic English pub, go for this. Otherwise, I'd go to the John Snow on Lexington Street for better Sam Smith experience. read more

This is one of the best Sam Smiths pubs in central London, and I have tried most, the Taddy beer is always good and the ambience is great however...I decided to eat there tonight ... Big mistake....one of the worst experiences I have had in London in a long time....I did not realise you could burn chicken but they succeeded with a 2mm coating of charcoal on both sides.....but it was Hunters chicken which comes covered with a sauce and they obviously decided to throw it out...don't eat there. Go to China town nearby but make sure you visit here for the excellent beer read more
