Our family's tax situation is complex, involving multiple states and various moving parts, yet Joe and his staff handled everything with exceptional professionalism and responsiveness. They are consistently easy to reach, quick to reply, and always courteous -- whether I'm contacting them by email, using their secure upload portal, or stopping by the office to drop something off. The client portal has been a great convenience for securely sharing documents from home or work, and the front office team is always friendly and organized. What has especially impressed me is how responsive they've been whenever I've received follow-up notices or adjustments from the IRS or from different states. Each time, they've stepped in quickly, explained what was happening, and resolved the issue efficiently. Having worked with two other CPA firms over the years, I can confidently say Joe stands out for his combination of responsiveness, accuracy, and value. His fees are very reasonable for the level of service and attention he provides, and it's clear he genuinely cares about his clients. I'm very pleased to have found him and look forward to continuing to work with him for many years to come.

He knew what questions to ask, who to consult and more importantly how to follow through. This last consideration is key when deciding who you associate with in life. Promises made, promises kept. In line with other reviews, my gut instinct informs me that this fine CPA is fully trustworthy and knows exactly what needs to be done in order to rectify and comprehensively solve issues that may arise. Further, Joe is not offended by questions that are intended to quell any trepidation that is so typical of tax preparations. Although this professional CPA is laid back, he is thorough and compassionate when it comes to planning, strategy and preparation. God Bless Joe Paldino and company.

I found Gerstain on Google and went with them because they were close by my house and I had an…read moreinitial positive conversation with their team. Unfortunately, I had a very negative experience with them once I signed on for them to do my taxes. They made a total of 5 errors on both my personal and business returns, costing me $3,000+ that I didn't think I would have to pay. They were constantly trying to get me off the phone when I asked them to explain things to me, and didn't want to spend the time to walk through what they needed and what the return entailed -- which would have prevented some of the errors they made. Overall, customer service as abysmal and they made carless errors (like not including my w2 income on my business return), which ultimately cost me thousands of dollars. DO NOT USE THEM!

I had not understood that Gerstein's is now offering more services like consultations on retirement distribution, which is well worth it. Thankfully, they reviewed my taxes, made some great suggestions, and I will be staying with them in the future. They are extremely easy to work with and understand customer service as well as they understand the complexities of taxes. The fact they are offering more customer service and important pre-tax season consultations (so you know what to plan for) is great news.

I hired this firm to prepare my taxes last year and paid $400 for their services. Recently, another…read moretax professional identified a potential error related to the depreciation claimed on my rental property...something I would not reasonably be able to catch or verify on my own as a non-accountant. When I reached out to the office for clarification, I was told it would cost an additional $250 just to review the return and address questions or corrections. I do not believe it is appropriate to charge a client to fix or explain a potential error made during the original preparation. What's more concerning is that I was told that because I reviewed and signed the return, they are not responsible for assisting further. This is unrealistic...clients rely on professionals for their expertise, especially for complex areas like depreciation, which are not easily understood or verified without specialized knowledge. This experience reflects very poor customer service and lack of accountability. I would not recommend this firm and would advise others to seek a preparer who stands behind their work.

Then he hung up on me. Complete waste of an entire week... the week before tax day. UPDATE: Called another CPA and they agreed with me. Not only was Fiotax rude and unprofessional, they were wrong in a way that would've cost me thousands of dollars if I hadn't terminated my relationship with them. Update 2: Nearly 6 years later, the business has replied to this review with outright lies. I did not demand anything or cause any distress to staff. I had asked for tax service, they agreed and took all my information, and then they gave me completely wrong tax advice and lied to me, and are still lying now. Avoid this business.
